Due to the hot weather (needing a/c for our dog) we had to cancel our reservation at a nearby state park. Merry Knoll was centrally located for our needs and a great alternative! The staff were very attentive and the seasonal residents were among the friendliest we've encountered! The bathrooms and laundry facility were very clean - some of the cleanest we've ever seen in a campground. RV sites are close together, but this is a prime location on the St. Lawrence River. It's close to so many nearby activities and dining options. Check out the historic building (now a distillery) just a few doors down.

We visited 2 years ago for some school shopping in Watertown and to get away for a few nights. They had a BBQ while we were staying there and they invited us to join. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Any info we needed, they had ready for us. The cabins are spacious for being cabins. The view at the water is breathtaking. We've been meaning to go back, just haven't made it down that way yet again. But my kids still say that was one of their favorite memories, so we will be back.

The nicest place to enjoy the 1000 Islands. Cozy and quite. Nice level lots. They help you with about anything. The owners Jim and Joanne are the absolute nicest people. And it seems their campers are all returning customers. This is our new spot when in the 1000 islands region!!

Our first time in the 1000 islands, we have been so amazed at the beauty, and gladdened by the friendliness. Here for just over a week, Jim & Joanne have made us feel right at home with a cute little spot under the trees. We had a major electrical problem and George & Jim totally saved the day. It’s a steep hill to the dock on the river, and so worth it to see the sunset. We covered about half of what we listed to try and do, so we hope we can plan to come again to Merry Knoll

The owners were wonderful! They went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable. Our site had amazing views - we totally enjoyed watching the big ships pass while enjoying our campfire. The location of this campground was perfectly situated near all the attractions, and Canada was just 15 minutes away. Perfect! The only issue that I had was the bathrooms/showers. The bathrooms were old and dingy. Very dark and outdated. The showers were controlled by a 5” chain that you had to pull for tepid water. To rinse your back, you’d need to be a contortionist.

Jim, Joanne and dog Acres were so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The grounds are clean, beautiful and well maintained. I had an amazing time during week stay, can’t wait to go back!

Twice at this place, the first time it was mostly empty, the second time it was busy. Campground is geared mostly toward annual renters with permanent and semi permanent camps near the edge of the steep hill and beyond. Most of the wooded area consists of seasonal renters as well, sporting assorted RVs.There are rules in place pertaining to renters, which is fine with me. Your view of the river is a ways back from the embankment, but you are allowed to hike down to the dock. Sites are quite close together, in fact, another individual was complaining about having the adjacent camp's sewer pipe next to his patio area. Admittedly, if you are not in an end spot you will be cramped.Public bath is kept clean, owner does this once a day. Trash dumpster is at the main road exit to the park. Jim, the owner, rides one of his golf carts around the park pretty much nonstop.Just be aware that uncharges for electric service are in place. 30 amp service is standard with a full hookup, however, if you use one AC unit it's an up charge, two AC units another up charge. 50 amp service is $9 per day more. Our first visit found the fireplace to be full of cat box contents and a few items of trash. We never used it, but did police the site up a bit. On our second, most recent visit, the fireplace was mostly empty but the cat box contents were at the bottom of the power pole next to us. I mentioned it loudly enough so whomever it belonged to must have picked it up, as it vanished. If you have a pet, you must take care that it's not on the loose and endangering others or destroying property (per the rules). This policy, I totally agree with. On the other hand, the owner allows his large dog to run loose, raising havoc where it sees fit. Certainly doing his business wherever he pleases and running into open doors and camper's vehicles. It aggressively came after our four month old dog, which is always on a leash, and in the process of being trained. Fortunately, I was the person with her, and was able to extricate her before she was injured. During this event, the owner was chatting with another individual watching it occur. Not a word from him. From what other campers iterated to me after the fact, this behavior is not uncommon. All campers with dogs were extremely responsible, I must say. The cats, maybe not so much.In summation, we don't intend to return, and in fact, left a day early (paid in full) due to the stress of having to deal with a small common "green" area for people and pets, with uncertainty as to the possibility of another aggressive visit by the owner's dog. Just to reiterate, the campers were very considerate, as they are in almost every place we've visited..

This was an amazing place! Came with 5 other people for Memorial Day weekend, we are all in our 20's and although there are mostly older people at the site it was such a great time. Everyone in this camp site were super friendly. It was a beautiful spot on the lake and we were in a shaded spot under the trees in two cabins. The cabins were gorgeous and are kept up well. Whatever we needed the owners were there to help us. Bathrooms were cleaned every night and showers were very spacious and clean. Thank you Jim and Joan from Brooklyn! I hope to be able to come again in the future.

I cannot say enough about how incredibly accommodating and friendly the owners are at Merry Knoll! They went out of their way to ensure our comfort and needs were met. The pool was clean and the kids loved the playground. The views were perfect and exactly what I would expect out of camping on the St. Lawrence. We will definitely be returning! Thank you Jim and Joann!

The campground is clean and well maintained. The cabins are charming. The reason I won't give this place a 5 is because the lady at the front desk is rude and cold. However, the gentleman that works the ground and gives you the tour of the campground is amazing, great customer service, and very caring he made us feel at home.

What a great find! The location is beautiful with an incredible view of the St. Laurence Seaway. You have so much room to camp. When you check in the owners take you on a tour before they escort you to your campsite. You can tell they have a lot of pride in what they do. They recommended some things to do during our stay.Every night was a treat at the campfire looking at the seaway and up at the millions of stars. Bathrooms were clean.Truly enjoyed the time there and would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling in that area.

We just got home from camping here. This is a really nice campground. It is kept very clean. Our site was spacious. A short walk to the water and the view for watching the boats going by was awesome. Has a nice pool...and the owners are very nice . Joe rides around everyday checking on everything and everybody....just a wonderful place to camp. And the fishing off the dock was great....use live bait and you will catch fish all day. Great place !!!!

My family has several seasonal sites here and we all love it. The sense of community is great, the owners(Jim and Joanne) are amazing, and the campground itself is beautiful and very well kept. The camp has hot showers and bathrooms, laundry, an on-site store for things like ice, RV-friendly toilet paper, s’mores ingredients, etc. and a game room with some old classics for the kids. Would highly recommend to any and everyone for both seasonal and transient camping!

All I did was call asking about availability and the lady was rude. First she asked what kind of dogs I had then she said “as long as they’re quiet” in a condescending voice, however I moved past it (as if you can make a dog not make a single peep”. Then she said “you can’t have any visitors the max is 5” I said “ yeah we shouldn’t” and she again in a rude condescending tone said “you won’t and you shouldn’t are two different things” which led to me just hanging up. I didn’t even ask about visitors and she was at my throat at my verbiage.

A tight knit community that is very welcoming and everyone has a drink waiting for you. The owners treat you like family and the grounds offer million dollars view. The tree line draws your attention to the river and frames a relaxing view. We look forward to our next visit.

We spent three nights in mid May. Delightful. The owners Jim and JoAnn were friendly and helpful. The place was clean. It is not a resort and there are many permanent setups but it was perfect for us.

Such a Wonderful Place!!! We were greeted by the owner Jim around 2:30 on Saturday afternoon. Right in the middle of a beautiful wedding on the patio overlooking the River. Which he was supposed to be attending. He was so gracious and patient. But we shooed him along to rejoin it and we easily finished up the check in process later. We hooked up our camper with no problems. There are great level sites with concrete strips for the tires to park on. We had full water, electric and septic hookups and we were given a WiFi password for the internet later upon settling in. We had a perfect spot with a small picket fence and a big yard which had a picnic table and fire pit for our personal use. A big pile of Firewood was available for $5. The building with the community bathrooms and showers was big and very nice & clean. A gameroom with pool table and arcade style games was available for kids. And the pool looked very inviting but it wasn't quite warm enough on our visit to use it. The views were wonderful and everyone was so gracious. If we have the opportunity we will definitely return and hopefully stay much much longer. Thank you Jim and JoAnne!

I stayed there for our second year with our grandson for pirates weekend in Alex bayI paid for four nightspaid extra in case we needed to use the air conditionerpaid extra for a third personAfter the first night my mother in law was rushed to the hospital so we packed up and left . The third person (my wife) was never there as she was to come the next day.I can maybe understand not recieving a full refund for the three days we didn't stay but had reservations for but not for the four days of extras that were not used. It may be petty but in principle I wouldn't go backHad a nice stay at ceder creek campground 1/2 mile down the road this year

The reviews are misleading, the bathrooms are horrible old and dirty. The showers are so outdated and. It cleaned , u have to use their showers set to the temp they set it to. The bathroom stalls are so close to the doors u can't sit down. The exit when u leave with ur camper is too high so u will bottom out your camper. The pier they show is like a hike and half straight down to get to

Can't say enough about this campsite. The owners are so hospitable and caring. The cleanest Campground I have ever stayed in. The grounds have spectacular views and our site had more than enough space . We cant wait to come back and stay.

We asked to reserve two campsites next to each other. She she yes. The day before we were to arrive she called and asked if she could move us across the road from our friends. Well, we thought she was in a bind and it would be okay because we'd just be across from each other, so we said fine. Turns out the road wasn't where we thought it would be and we weren't across from our friends. The first night there were empty sites. The second night four great big busses rolled in. That's when we figured out why we got put "in the hole." We ended up in a very small site. It wasn't wide enough to roll out our awning if we had wanted to. The buses only stayed 1 night. After that there were empty sites 1-2 nights. Just don't think that was the right thing for them to do to us. We paid the same as those big busses. We already had our sites reserved probably 3-4 weeks earlier. The bus people called AFTER we did. We are the ones who got a really crummy site. Will not go back!!!

Wow what can I not say about this jewel of a campground...We loved it!!First of all Jim and Joann were the nicest and friendliest people ever..They really know how to make you feel welcome...When we arrived we were taken in a golf cart to see a few sites before choosing the site we wanted...it was great..went back and checked in..got lots of brochures and info to make our stay a fun one ..lots of things to see and do...Jim followed us down and helped us get parked on our site...Its a very unique campsite because of the view.... its completely clear right down the center of the campground and you can see The St Lawrence Seaway and as you are sitting at your campfire you can watch all huge barges travel up and down the Seaway all day and night...its sooo beautiful to see and they are sooo quiet you don't even know they are out there til you finally see them ...what a beautiful site...Its a truly wonderful place to stay...all the other campers are friendly and very helpful...WE LOVE THIS PLACE. when were arrived we were friends ...when we left we were family...Def planning another relaxing trip to Merry Knoll in 2020.

My father, girlfriend and i tried to drive in to see the groumds before we paid for it. We were told that was not allowed. The rates are very high as well. Try one of the 4 state parks that are within 10 miles for half the price, and they have hot showers.
