This is a wonderfully convenient supermarket, hometown feel, quick lines and friendly staff. Great meat department, beer selection, and discount fuel club! Prices are commensurate with the challenges of running a small business and not a multi billion dollar corporation.

We needed dinner Monday night around 8:30 called the store and asked if they were still making subs they said till 9 no problem. We went right over and greeted by two young men breaking down the deli for closing time. They treated us so nice told us no problem and made us two of the best subs we have ever had... thank you again and you have two new customers for life! The store has anything you forgot for camping plus a lot of great products... Great job by all!!!

Shopped here once before and they had the great 5/$24.99 meat deals. Went back two weeks later and they stopped it because they can get more money from tourists 😢 Unfortunately there are A LOT of people who live here/and senior citizens😡

I was on a short vacation and love Clayton. My friend and I stopped in for a few things and this is a great independent grocery store. They have a full line of groceries, bakery and friendly staff. My father ran a corner grocery store for over 50 years so I can appreciate the hard work. PS my friend had a sub made and still raves about how good it was.

EDIT: Bought the 16oz tuna steaks for $11.99 ...went to Walmart and the SAME SIZE AND KIND was $7.49!!!! $4.50 difference!That's just plain old ripping folks off. Staff is 5 stars but the prices are about 30-40% higher item for item than other stores... AND don't get me started on the "5 for 24.99" meat and frozen foods...if you only offer items for an avg of $5.20 then I save a whole $1.01 YIPPEE! At Wegmans the "5 for 25" items have an avg price of $6.40 so you save at least $7.00

This is the only grocery store for miles making it a very important place. Prices are about the same as any other grocery and always has many on sale items. The store brand products are economical and most of them are quite good.This store has a decent meat Dept and a small bakery/deli .. 1 Year Later, review Uodate: after a year comparing prices, Shurfine is better than i originally stated. Prices tend to be much lower than bigger stores in the area, with weekly on sale specials and a good selection.

Not a bad little market. Has most of what you'll need for a quick run to the store. Prices seem a little higher than other local grocery stores, but that's the price of convenience.

Prices are crazy. Bought the 2.5lb imitation crab flakes for $13.85 then found the same size and brand for $6.58 in Watertown. That's just ripping customers off at that point.

I shop here every week and have since it was the Big M in the 70's. You can't get me to go to big box in Watertown. Fair prices and excellent staff. And.....that cannot be beat. And don't let me forget to tell you they have delivery to homes and docks!

We spend a few weeks out on Grindstone island and always shop here to fill up on supplies. Always have boxes and will carry to car. Great products and fresh produce. Great Beer selections and pricing.

I liked the store. It's on the smaller side yet appropriate for the area. Cashier was very nice and friendly. The one thing of importance is that I watched the "sell by dates". The meats dates were getting close to expiring.

August 2017- amazing trips to the Shurfine! The folks at the deli counter are fabulous! They make the best sandwiches here. We ordered customized sandwiches and they have so many topping options. We took our sandwiches out on the river for a picnic and what a great day. We also fell in love with the homemade donuts. During our week stay we got donuts four times! With a cup of tea or coffee down by the river with a homemade donut- great way to start the day. We even did the Friday night fish fry on our last night. Great job Clayton Shurfine- we enjoyed delicious homemade food without all of the going out to eat costs. Customer service also top notch.

Unorganized “deli”, rude employees. Other cashiers looked very nice, but the woman monitoring the self-checkout yelled at us and told us we aren’t supposed to take items out of the bagging area after bagging them until the transaction was done. We had no other choice, we had more than 50 dollars in groceries and there wasn’t enough room in the bagging area. Then after we checked out, we were told we didn’t pay for my brisk lemonade-no big deal, it was 1.49, so we did another transaction just to buy that. Get back out to the car and check our receipt, we did pay for it! Overall bad experience with an unorganized store, but most of the workers are usually very friendly

Parking lot large and easy to maneuver even though this place is sometimes swamped. Great job of stocking as much as possible into a relatively small store. Only drawback was the propane tank refill. The girl that "helped" us definitely didn't want to be there and left my 70+ year old mother and her grandkids to haul the full -and heavy- tank to the car themselves...a little help would've been great!

Newly renovated, and still the same great staff! The meat Department goes out of its way to cut meat for me if necessary. There's always someone there to help me carry my groceries out if needed. I love shopping at a local market.

Really a goo d size store. Has a deli fully.stocked aisles an good selection of brands. STAFF THAT ACTUALLY PAYS ATTENTION TO YOU WHEN YOU ARE INTERACTING WITH THEM , AMAZING!! If you ask a question they use words not duh, or blank looks. Every is friendly.

I think the place deserves 5*. The store has everything you need when on a vacation or boating adventure. I guess that should not be a surprise to see 2 isles of chips and snacks only as well as 2 isles of pop drinks from total of 8 isles in the store. And don't forget the beer store and deli counter. Staff very friendly and helpful

Meh. We shopped there once when in town visiting. The produce was not so great. We picked what appeared to be the best of what was available out of the apples. We bought them to directly to family that we were visiting, cut them up and had to dispose of a good portion of them as they were rotten.

Completely average supermarket that hasn't fundimentally changed for decades. It is really the only place to get your full grocery shopping done in town. While they seem to be doing fine (as the name implies), it would go a long way if they would source produce from the abundant local farms and give something back to the community rather than their current produce shipped from California.

It’s a pretty decent store if you need to rush and grab something from town without having to drive very far to the main city to buy things. This shurfine seems to have more higher prices but again it’s the only real supermarket in the village.

Excellent small town store with a very varied selection especially in produce. Customer service is outstanding, the people who work there will not hesitate to help you out and you don't get ignored when you ask for help... unlike the McDonalds in Saranac Lake.
