It's a shame I couldn't give Fern Lodge six stars. Peaceful, quiet, Adirondack lodge-style luxury, and yet, not over-the-top snooty. Wendy was a warm and friendly host, as was Sharon. Breakfast was amazing! The views of Friends Lake from our room and private balcony was stunning. Fireplaces everywhere, and lodge decor set the mood for us. We typically stay at the 2 and 2.5 star places due to our budget limitations, but we saved up for many weeks to spend three nights here, and I'd do it again! It was worth every penny. Maybe next time we visit there'll be snow, and we could try out those snowshoes.Rooms: Adirondack-style rooms. King bed made of reclaimed barn posts and live edge planks. Large shower with body sprays and steam shower. Jetted tub. Fridge and TV as expected. In-floor radiant heat which is warm and quiet.Safety: The lodge has no signs announcing its existence, and is at the end of a private lane. The innkeeper lives onsite.Walkability: There appears to be several hiking trails around the lodge, and many stone paths leading to the lake and boathouse.Food & drinks: The lodge management has (what looks to me) a nicely stocked wine cellar. I'm not into wine, but I have seen some stores with less variety. Inhouse chef prepares breakfast, and the menu varies daily, but it's all top notch.Noteworthy details: Fireplaces and firepits abound! There's a large hot tub on the lower level. Complementary smores making kits rest in a basket with skewers for roasting marshmallows. Pool table, darts, pingpong, and numerous board games are downstairs near the theatre room and minibar.

Our experience at The Fern Lodge was amazing! The photos on line are beautiful and that’s why I booked, but the pictures on line do not do this place it’s top justice. The fern lodge reminds me of a hallmark picturesque movie. Every detail was thought out and met our every need. Wendy the Innkeeper is a Gem. She goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable and unmatched to any other place. She is truly a top notch Innkeeper that cares about what she is doing and wants you to have a magical time. She is always visible and there if you have questions or needs. She greets you at the door when you come home. This is most definitely our new weekend getaway spot. I cannot wait to go back to the fern lodge and Wendy! We will be talking about the lodge for weeks to come. Thank you for a great experience.Rooms: The room is unreal. There was a double sided fireplace In our room. A spacious bathroom and closet, big sitting area, king size comfy bed, complimentary keurig, mini fridge, good size tv and balcony to name a few. The detail in the decor in the room was spectacular. The bed was a tree, everything was woodsy and rustic and that upscale lodge feeling. The room was so big and cozy. It’s the most beautiful room I’ve ever stayed in.Safety: The fern lodge is in a small town. Its a pretty remote location, but at no time do you feel unsafe. You don’t have service on the back roads but the lodge provides great WiFi.Food & drinks: The food and drinks were amazing. The service was exceptional. You can eat your morning breakfast in your room or at a dining room table or even a balcony overlooking the lake. The breakfast choics were yummy and made with love.Noteworthy details: You can truly just spend the day relaxing at the lodge. From ping pong, to the pool table, sitting by the fireplace, or taking a dip in the jacuzzi, you have the opportunity for a relaxing day no matter what. The accommodations are so thought out to meet your needs. The location is remote, but lake George is not far from chestertown. There are a few restaurants in the area. But mostly you have to drive about 20 minutes to go to eat. Which is not bad at all!! Love a location the is remote but close enough to civilization.

My wife and I loved our stay at the Fern Lodge. The room was beautiful and comfortable. We stayed in the Cedar room. Personal fireplace, porch with fire place, jacuzzi tub and king bed. The rest of the lodge was great as well. Home theater, hot tub, pool table, darts and our favorite feature, Noche the black lab. It was all perfect. Wendy was by far the best part of the experience. She was always there when we had a question or needed anything at all. She always had a smile on her face no matter what time of day it was and was always a text away if we need anything while we were out exploring. Highly recommend the Fern Lodge!

The Fern Lodge is a hidden gem of a destination, when you wish to be pampered a little, while surrounded by the rustic beauty of natural wood furnishings, opulent stone fireplaces, in a laid back atmosphere, offering numerous choices of entertainment to pass your time, or simply relax in the comfort of your exceptionally spacious room. Our room had a beautiful gas fireplace that provided extra warmth and an atmosphere conducive to simply relax in front of it, on the comfortable love seat and enjoy a good book, (many book options available to select from). Or you can do the same in front of the giant stone fireplace (wood) in the main gathering room. Turn down service with a sweet chocolate treat offering, and of course the late afternoon hour of drinks and horderves offered either in the main room or delivered to your own room. A breakfast menu is offered daily, or you can simply request how you would like yours. You may enjoy your breakfast in the dining room, on the balcony or delivered to your room. There is no reason to be bored, as you may go downstairs and perhaps shoot some pool, play ping pong, cards chess, or any number of board games, help yourself to beverages stocked at the mini bar or catch a game or your favorite shows in the mini theater, seated in overstuffed chairs and wall to wall screen for viewing. Finally enjoy a luxurious bathroom with a giant soothing tub or a multi spraying shower. This place is special, and we will be back!

My wife and I went to The Fern Lodge for our 10-year anniversary a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with the place. It is beautiful, peaceful and always smells amazing! The innkeeper Wendy is sweet and fantastic. We loved our first stay so much that we now go twice every year to get away from the hustle-and-bustle of our home life and reconnect as a couple in our favorite place in the world, The Fern Lodge!

We enjoyed our 3 day stay at the lodge. It's peaceful, upscale and the location is stunning. The rustic, chic Adirondack styling immediately makes you take a deep breath and relax. A lovely breakfast was served in our room and we ate while gazing out on the lake. We spent one cloudy morning in the canoe and we were the only ones out there. Pretty awesome, indeed. Afternoon wine was nice and the electric boat ride was fun. We had 3 dinners at different restaurants, all within 20 minutes or so and every one was delicious. We look forward to returning!

The Fern Lodge is a gem! It is a beautiful B&B that catches the Adirondack vibe perfectly. It is cozy with fireplaces, an outside hot tub, sauna, two-person jacuzzis and steam showers. Wendy the inn keeper was awesome and super nice. She gave us great dinner recommendations and baked and cooked a great breakfast. They have a great game room on the bottom floor with a pool table,,darts, ping pong, a cheeker/chess table and a "movie" room with a big screen, lazy-boy type chairs and microwave popcorn. They have board games and books for guests to use and a a couple exercise machines and weights. They have snowshoes for guests and a few trails from the property. The views from the rooms are wonderful. As a perk, they have smores kits for guests, which we used every night in our room. It is 25 minutes from Lake George which was perfect we enjoyed Lake George and came back to relax in this peaceful beautiful place. I rarely write reviews and am quite picky, but this place is one of the best B&Bs I have ever been too. My boyfriend and I can't wait to return!Rooms: The rooms were spectacular with stone fireplaces, a large jacuzzi and a steam shower. The room views were picturesque and beautiful.Food & drinks: The Bullhouse in Chestetownwas an amazing steakhouse

We booked the elopement package and stayed for two nights. Our wedding ceremony was everything we envisioned. We enjoyed playing pool, soaking in the jacuzzi, watching a movie in the theater, and sitting by the fire in the enclosed porch while listening to the coyotes outside.Food & drinks: Breakfast was delicious. We had french toast with apply chutney and chantilly cream, with a side of ham, fresh fruit, and coffee cake one day. The next we had a frittata with zucchini and squash, with toast, sausage, yogurt, fruit, and granola, and a blueberry scone.

My husband and I had a wonderful week-long stay in the Birch Room for his 50th birthday in January. The lodge is gorgeous, the food was fantastic, and the innkeeper was wonderful - we had so much fun getting to know her. The hot tub was luxurious and we enjoyed watching movies in the mini-theater with popcorn. There is a sauna and a bar, and lots of games and other thoughtful touches throughout the property. The Birch Room is large but so cozy, with a sitting area, porch, jacuzzi tub, and fireplace. We loved that there was a house dog to pet and cuddle! We can’t wait to go back again next year.Nearby activities: There is a cute town with some great restaurants a short drive away. We were able to easily do a day trip to Lake Placid and a day trip to Burlington, VT.

My husband and I just stayed here for our honeymoon. It was wonderful from start to finish! Wendy and the other staff member who helped us, whose name I unfortunately forget, were both so kind, responsive, and helpful. The breakfasts each day were incredible too!Downstairs, there is work out equipment, a pool table, darts, games, a sitting area, a self serve bar, a sauna, and even a small movie theatre. This place really has it all. Plus, the bed was so comfortable! Our room also boasted a beautiful steam shower and jacuzzi tub. The grounds are beautiful and there are kayaks and paddle boards available to guests. I could go on and on. We could've spent weeks here! The location was within a half hour of everywhere we wanted to go (Lake George Village, Bolton's Landing, etc.) but its off the beaten path, nestled in the woods. You feel like you're off the grid and you have a wonderful view of the lake. For all that you get here, I think the prices are incredibly fair. The positives are endless. You won't regret staying here!

Had a wonderful, peaceful time at the Fern Lodge. Wendy our host was there for all our needs. Lovely people. What can I say, if you want to unwind, this is the place. We enjoyed our February stay here very much. We were traveling with our 10-year-old Australian shepherd, so we were in Treetops. The apartment was very large (bigger than we expected) and had everything we needed. We loved the huge eat-in kitchen, the screened in porch, and the fireplace. It is just a short walk to the main lodge where we had delicious breakfasts and happy hour. We took advantage of the outdoor hot tub and the pool table. Wendy and Sharon made us feel very welcome and were attentive to our needs. Wendy even went out in the snow and uncovered the hot tub for us and extended "happy hour" so that I could soak first and then have a glass of wine. We would love to come back in the summer and enjoy the lake.Rooms: The treetops is awesome! Very large (two bedrooms, two baths) and immaculate. Great for a family.

This place is a slice of heaven on earth! The inn keeper, Wendy, is phenomenal. She’s thought of every detail and accommodates your every need. We stayed in the Birch room which had everything you’d ever want in it. The happy hours with homemade appetizers and the perfectly timely breakfasts were creatively healthy and delicious. The grounds, view, small quiet lake and outdoor amenities made for a perfectly relaxing and enjoyable stay. We highly recommend this cozy lodge. We will be back!

We had a magical babymoon at Fern Lodge. We came in between two snowstorms in March and it was a winter wonderland. Wendy was warm, helpful, and very responsive. The Birch room was big, beautiful, and so cozy (the soaking tub and fireplace were fantastic). Breakfasts were phenomenal! We went snow-shoeing on a trail right from the property that was lovely and peaceful in the snow. We also took advantage of the pool table, sauna, and comfortable movie den downstairs. We did not expect to do much during what we thought would be a muddy transition month, but between the late snow and Fern Lodge's perks and services, we had a truly magical babymoon. Would love to come back during the summer/fall!

Very unique boutique lodge situated in a remote area of Friends Lake. The facility was well kept and updated. The area was what we had hoped for escaping the hassle or everyday work life!Couple of dis-appointments, shower was difficult to regulate and the room gas fireplace was on the fritz.

The Fern Lodge is tucked away in a serene area above Friends Lake. My husband and I stayed in the Forest Room for our honeymoon. Sharon and Wendy's hospitality was exceptional. It was like staying in a comfortable, well-kept home! The breakfast served to our room was absolutely delicious and fresh. The surrounding views are so beautiful. It's very quiet and peaceful. We relaxed and enjoyed our stay. We definitely recommend the Fern Lodge to friends and family for a trip to the Adirondacks!

Fern Lodge is a breath of fresh air literally and figuratively. The lodge is quintessential Adirondack – right blend of rustic warmth. The staff are friendly, helpful, and very good at what they do. The breakfast was perfect. The rooms are luxurious with all the amenities – and they are quiet! We came to the lodge in the “shoulder” season of November – we were looking for a place to chill out, enjoy each other’s company, and be pampered. We got it all. We look forward to returning in other seasons to enjoy this superb Inn and the beautiful Adirondacks!

We had a very memorable 15-year wedding anniversary at The Fern Lodge! The lodge itself is breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful. The accommodations were lovely and very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful and the chef made probably the best breakfasts we've ever eaten. Could not recommend this place more, we definitely hope to return one day.

We went to the The Fern Lodge for a private wedding getaway. It was perfect! We had a great time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the officiant they arranged for our ceremony did a great job, and the room exceeded our expectations. My only regret is that I forgot the flowers when we were leaving! They were beautiful! Thank you for a memorable wedding.
