This is a review for the terrible hiring practice for this company so no one else will go through what I went through. I applied to this location(1004 Culver Rd) online and received a text from the District Manager a few days later. I spoke briefly and scheduled an interview with a recruiter a few days later. I was interviewed by a recruiter and was referred back to the District Manager whom shared that they were interested in me as a Candidate for the Store Manager position. I was then referred to the Regional Manager whom I had a phone conversation with and was informed by him that the District Manager would reach back out to me. After several days, the District Manager contacted me saying they were sending the hiring packet out and I needed to complete. Once completed I informed her and she asked me how much notice I required for the company I was working at (Dollar Tree Store Manager). I said 10 business days and she told me I would start June 10th. I was given a schedule and the training manager reached out to me to confirm schedule. I was also added to the group chats. I purchased uniforms and was ready to work that day when the District Manger called me at 6am telling me I wouldn’t be able to go in to work because the background check wasn’t done yet, but my salary would still begin and I just had to wait for the report. After several days I reached out about the background check and was given the number for the company First Advantage that runs them by the District Manager. I contacted the company several times over the course of a week and finally got an email with the report. I notified the District Manager and she asked to email the report to her since it wasn’t in the system. After I sent the report to her, she said it was forwarded to Human Resources and I should hear back soon.That was 6/16/23. After reaching out and getting no response, I explained how I was not unemployed leaving my previous job for Dollar General and everything going on, I was told on 7/4/23 that the background didn’t pass and I was ineligible. Wasn’t told what or why it didn’t pass interestingly since I was a Store Manager at Dollar Tree prior to giving notice for this position and passed the Backgrounds multiple times there. I was never compensated for any of the time I wasted even after the District Manager said my salary began 6/10. I do not recommend applying to work at Dollar General, read the reviews and it seems a common theme with an extreme lack of professionalism. Further research after all of this shows This company has settled multiple times over lawsuits with similar situations. I am now unemployed with having a decent job prior to applying to Dollar General due to their terrible hiring process.

This place always have what I need right away the only problem is they lack good customer service. There lines are always long because there is always one cashier. One tume the cashier left to help a customer and took forever I was literally in line for like 10 minutes and everyone was getting frustrated. Good place but lacks customer service.

First time shopping as I recently moved into the neighborhood. Upon arrival to this establishment, hopes weren't very high. Once again I judged a book by its cover, everything I needed was right there, the prices like all dollar generals were awesome it was great! The staff was very willing to point me in the right direction for everything I ran in there for, on top of it all they were so friendly to me. The whole experience was very pleasant, I know where I'll be doing most of my shopping in this neighborhood from now one. If those employees see this, know your doing a great job regardless of some grumpy folks have to say!

The store its self is a hot mess. The shelves are never stocked, and there's always carts with boxes on them blocking your way to the aisles. The staff are unhelpful and extremely unhappy. You cannot walk in or out of the store without being hounded by panhandlers. This store is only used for a last minute item

Was horrible. I was approached by a scary man outside of the store. The store employees were well aware of this person. Store was cluttered with boxes in the Isles. I wasn't able to use my digital coupons. One of the reasons i went to that store. I got no help from the employees. I wont be going back.

The people have always been friendly. However, I have been here twice and both times they were out of the item I was looking for. Shelves were pretty bare. Could use some help in the restocking department.

That store is dirty, cluttered, disorganized. The line was long with only 1 cashier. Will say that one visible cashier was pleasant as they could be with an irate customer, but waiting over 20 minutes in line was not acceptable. I left and went elsewhere to purchase what I went in for.

The workers are so rude and always have unnecessary attitudes towards customers who are not even doing anything. The place is always dirty and they are always speaking to customers like they are try to steal ( while checking out). They need some new workers with actual respect for the customers.

VERY customer service oriented. The cashiers are ALWAYS greeting customers answering questions and helping to locate products. GREAT shopping atmosphere and experience.

Awesome new Dollar general store aka DGX on E Main is way better than the ole family dollar a block away from it. Better prices, cleaner store, better selection, and more friendly employees.

I will never shop there again, I went to return some items I purchased the nights before the cashier called the allegedly supervisor who started screw facing me as though we had a problem. Long story short! He blatantly says too me, I thought I told you twice already to stay out of this store!! I said what? And tried to explain to him he has mistaken me for someone else. And then he goes on to say No! It's you I have you on video now I am losing my cool because he's humiliating me in front of this Caucasian customer. He even had the audacity to say if you come in here again I am calling the cops, after that statement I said call them.... No the manger/ supervisor needs more training in dealing with people ( especially black men ).

It has a large variety of different items ranging from food to hygiene products cleaning supplies and automotive products too! Prices are reasonable! Try the gallon of milk it has a FLIP-CAP!

The lady manager and the tall young man with the fanny pack where very rude and mean to me while I was also yelled at for clearance shopping and banned me from coming back apparently they assumed I was a thief even when I'm NOT 😢😭😭😭 the $ price rang up different than the $ items what I scanned on DG app.

It is a smaller store which is fine,however every time I go there it is a disaster inside !it is always such a huge mess . they don't care if anything is put away properly . I try to not go to this particular store but sometimes its quick

Every now and then you can find items,they rarely stock items on the shelf.. certain employees come to work with attitudes...but some are friendly

They took over most of the Family Dollars but yet when I go in there I can never find what I want it was a wasted trip I like Family Dollar better

Such a fun store and everyone there is super friendly . I highly enjoy Dollar General every time I pop in there !
