This is a great breakfast place. The pastries are special. The Wagon Wheel is this crazy disk of a croissant stuffed with Boston creme and a segment dipped in chocolate. The Black and White cookie is thick and fluffy. I had a wonderful sandwich called Sugar Grove. It's sausage, goat cheese and apple on a croissant (yes I ate 2 croissant items! One sweet and one savory!) Here's the only problem with our experience. My husband is vegetarian. He ordered a sandwich called The Greens Platter. The menu on the board mentioned no meat. Yet it has two big pieces of crispy prosciutto and bacon in the sauteed greens! (Yum for me, not for him.) When the server (chef?) brought it out my husband mentioned he's a vegetarian and there's no mention of meat on the menu board. She was very apologetic and promised to fix that but didn't offer a new dish. My husband ate around it but that's not very pleasant for a vegetarian. I'm still giving 5 stars because the food and overall service and atmosphere are definitely worth it and we will return when in the area.

Guy Fieri should come here! What more can I say! The Toast is fantastic. The turkey apple Brie sandwich is one of the best I ever had. The bread they put the sandwiches on is to die for. All of the desserts are fabulous. the Toast is a must go to location in caz. The service is fantastic and they're quick to help you and serve you. Very welcoming. I could sit in here and smell the desserts and baking all day and just eat turkey sandwich after turkey sandwich. I also tried the chicken peppadew and that was also fantastic. Seriously you have to go here! Cazenovia should honor and cherish this establishment

We stopped here after our morning run to grab a quick breakfast! It did not disappoint! Food was awesome, and came out quickly! I ordered just a simple egg, meat, and cheese croissant breakfast sandwich. He ordered the special eggs, greens and prosciutto! Everything was delicious 😋 To go we ordered some pastries, a sugared chocolate mousse donut and a raspberry crumble cake! Definitely a cool place to check out!

Stopped in a little town called Cazenovia for coffee and to stretch our legs during a road trip. Lovely little bakery called The Toast! Unique cannoli flavours including a chocolate peanut butter and a raspberry pistachio. Coffee was good. Excellent smoothies too. Everything on the menu and in the bakery case looked amazing! Loved seeing the pride flag in the window of this small town bakery too!

There's no better sign that something is going to be good than when people are willing to wait for it and when we got here the line was out the door!Very cool environment, a little bit of old and new all wrapped up in one.The menu must be constantly changing as it is rolled out on a big roll of brown paper that can be cut off and occasionally rewritten. We got some croissant sandwiches which were all super delicious and for the number of patrons who ordered before us they can really chug out the orders as we didn't have wait very long.Would come here again and recommend to others.

They have limited hours (breakfast and lunch) so was happy to catch them right at lunch time. Pro: everything seemed made in house. Cons:?prices are not posted for bakery items and are on the high side. We got the small 2-3 person peanut pie (good value @$8.10 total) which was pretty good and a white chocolate croissant with raspberry (dry and terribly over priced at around $6.21?).

After traveling for an hour to get this place I planned on using a gift certificate ,a gift from my daughter. Wasn't able to use it. It didn't have an expiration date. Very disappointed. Owner didn't even offer us a discount! We left and felt that she handled it wrong.

Decided to take my son to breakfast this morning and so I thought I would try The Toast since I had never been there before. Parking was easy and the place was all but empty. The girls at the front were super nice, helpful in answering some questions I had, and we ordered our food. I have to say there was no real option for children and so I spent quite a bit of money for an adult portion meal for a 5-year-old child and there weren't really any options that were child appropriate but thankfully he likes adult food too. We sat down and waited quite a while for our food to come out and at some point I thought this better be worth it for the wait but when the food came out I realized it was definitely worth the wait. Our food was excellent, and I mean excellent. I had a goat cheese, apple and sausage sandwich on a croissant which was heavenly and my son had french toast which I tried also and it was very good, beautiful presentation, albeit a little bit dry, but of little matter once you put maple syrup on it. My son needed to use the restroom, and I found it a little odd that they had extra tables stacked in there - I found that kind of off-putting and maybe prevent someone with a wheelchair from being able to truly access it easily so I would say they probably need to find somewhere else to store those, but the bathroom was very clean and easy to find. I also really liked how they have art for sale in there and it was on the wall in the bathroom and up front by the registers. I almost missed that actually because it's so low on the wall in front of the registers - they could probably put it on The Big empty wall by the large party table, but nonetheless I really like the idea of selling local art if it is indeed local. Overall I would say really good food and I can't wait to try some of their pastries someday. I don't think it's a place I would go to often with my son for breakfast just because of the price points being so high (almost $40 for breakfast) and not having any children's meals, and no pancakes which are his staple out to breakfast meal, but I would definitely take my husband back there or another adult for a special occasion breakfast, grab a sandwich to treat myself, or stop there to pick up a dessert for dinner sometime as a special treat to my family. Will be back for sure.

My first impression everything cofee, lattes and food was just luke warm. Meal took a while and when we got it was hardly luke warm , Latte tasted good but barely luke warm. Corsants are okay. Seats are not comfortable. Very over priced for what you get. My first time here and may not ever come back. But may give it another try not for a long time though and will not be for breakfast Service could of cared less how everything was. No refills on cofee

The attention to detail and heart has been sadly lost at The Toast. I went years ago and had one of the best meals of my life, so I was excited to have the time to go again for breakfast this morning. I was very disappointed with taste, quality, and presentation. It just felt like the care was gone. Nothing is local in their sandwiches anymore, as far as I could tell from the menu descriptions. The atmosphere is lacking. Feels more like a middle of the road diner than the local heart-felt bakeshop I remembered those years ago.

You're looking at $16 for this. Coffee is about 20cents per ounce. If I wanted a coffee to go, I wanted it to fit in my cup holder so that I could drink it while driving, too short. There's only one size too small. The cashier/barista was awesome. They need to drop their prices by about 33% for the area, they may have been the hype over in Canastota but in Caz they're just status quo at best.My breakfast sandwich was a fork and knife ordeal... Should have come wrapped in parchment paper or wax paper and been edible with hands. No I don't have giant hands, Average at best.

The Toast is a cozy cafe with plenty of seating. Drinks are served in an eclectic set of mugs that make you feel right at home. So do the staff - they're friendly, polite, quick, and not overbearing. It's a bit cold inside (I like it around 72 degrees, I would guess they keep it at 68 - 69) so if you're like me, bring something warm overtop if you'll be eating in.Food is brought to your table if you eat in. My food and drink came out quickly, far quicker than I expected for a panini - ten minutes, tops. The turkey jive panini is made with chunks of dark meat from a whole turkey, which is a fantastic departure from the cold cuts found at every other sandwich place in the area. The lady working the counter even anticipated my need for a box as I started slowing down - the sandwich is large, about twice as much as a small person like me can handle. Sandwiches come with your choice of chips or a pickle for side.I assume their breakfast lives up to their lunch, but I didn't have breakfast, so I can't say. Their menu is full of creative toasts though (hence the name), so I'm looking forward to coming back and trying some. The Toast fills a much needed niche in this region. It's hard to find a restaurant around here for light fare that isn't fast food. If you want something to eat that you'll enjoy, do yourself a favor and visit The Toast.

A great breakfast place! Came here with the family and had a delicious breakfast along with awesome service. There were two kids with us and the ladies were very accommodating. The food was to die for and the coffee with the espresso shot was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place! The picture is of the breakfast of champions option.

Drove 45 minutes to eat here for the first time, tried calling prior to make sure they were open but no answer so we chanced it. We arrived, they were open but claimed they just stopped serving breakfast that due to some issue. So we were going to go somewhere else and get breakfast and come back to get pastries then the woman stated their hours changed too and they’d be closing at 12.. so we got several pastries and took them to go. When we got home we tried them. And honestly, I don’t know what the hype is. The cinnamon roll was hard, the raspberry muffin wasn’t bad, the blueberry crescent thing was ok at best, the hand pie was ok, the filling was fine but the crust was very soft and I didn’t care for it. And it all came to $30. I wouldn’t return.

I went here expecting a basic small town diner experience and had my mind blown! I don't eat out often because I am usually disappointed by the quality. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! REAL FOOD! They make everything themselves! Even the jams and jellies. I never expected to find a place like thus in Canastota, but I am thrilled I did ! The portions are decent and the prices are fabulous. Downstate I would expect to pay readily 2-3x for this quality of good. This has become my go to place!

The atmosphere was nice. Clean place and friendly staff. Potatoes were a little under seasoned but the corned beef was outstanding. Coffee was amazing. Haven't had the baked goods yet but they look luscious and I cannot wait. Will definitely be going back

Great food. A selection you really can't find anywhere else around here. Quiet enough for an intimate brunch with friends, but lively enough to just go and get something by yourself too. Super yummy desserts!

I'll say what quite a few reviews have said (and I'm sure many more who haven't reviewed )... Good but very overpriced .The croissant french toast ( actually more of an " lobster claw " pastry typical of Italian bakeries ) was good but if you deconstruct it your looking at a " croissant" with 2 slices of bacon and 1/2 a banana for $10 ... Yup $10 ... First time ever I spent that for breakfast at a diner and actually left hungry. Someone else posted " they can't wait until they come to Syracuse " ... Ummm, let me save you the trouble and bankruptcy proceeding... If you come to Syracuse with those portions and prices you will be crushed by the competition... Rise and Shine, Stella's, The Gem all far outshine. The reality is The Toast is an ok choice in Canastota because there are no other choices... Literally no other choices.

Great variety and selection of pastries. Highly recommended grab and go breakfast. We got the snickers croissant & the pistachio croissant which had Creme Patissiere (Pastry Cream) in it... Both were great with the the snickers croissant finger licking good

Very sad experience. I went to the Toast years ago in Canastota and had one of the best breakfast sandwiches Ive tasted. I went here this morning and we were disappointed in very run of the mill diner food that is not at diner prices. Im sure the pastries are great as it seems their business model has shifted towards focusing on that side of things. I would recommend visiting other cafes for breakfast food.

I ordered a cake for my birthday and it came out looking amazing. The macarons were delicious like always, but the downside was the cake. It didn't have much flavor. The frosting didn't taste like anything to me and the cake was dense and semi-sweet. It was almost like the sugar was forgotten from the ingredients. So if you order a cake just a heads up to make sure you let them know you prefer it on the sweeter or lighter side. I ended up throwing over half of it out, which is ashame because it was gorgeous and it was up there in price. All other items i've got from The Toast have normally been great, but this cake was a let down.
