We can’t thank Chelsea from the Canton Animal Clinic enough! She was instrumental in making sure we got the best care for our father’s dog. The entire staff was very welcoming and Dr. Thompson and our tech, Meredith, were very thorough. They made a stressful situation so much better! What a wonderful first visit. Thank you!! And thank you Tracy for help at the desk and Nate for making the dog look handsome! 🐶

Made some serious mistakes with the family dog and then wouldn’t see my cat for an emergency the same week. I had to drive to Ottawa because canton animal clinic couldn’t care less. They are also incredibly overpriced and have poor administration. Go to Java you’ll spend way less and your animals will actually get care.

Dr. Dengler has joined the Canton Animal Clinic and has a wealth of knowledge on horses. She did a thorough examination, was not in a rush and took the time to explain what I needed to do for my miniature horse. He now is recovering and on the medication to help his condition. She also knows about horse nutrition and with her recommendations is doing so much better. I am very thankful she has joined Dr. Amy Thompson in the Clinic.

First, let me say I think Dr. Martin is a fine vet - very knowledgeable and great surgical skill. Bedside manner is notable as well. The staff and the vet techs do their best with apparently little orientation time. That is the only reason I am rating this clinic a three. The business side of the clinic is highly problematic. Extremely long waits for appointments, scheduling logistics that don't work for the client or their pets, forcing non-compete contracts with their vets which greatly exacerbates the local shortage of vet care, etc. After our last experience when our two older cats were so stressed by the long wait that they "wet their beds" with drool, I asked to speak with the owner and/or whoever was making the administrative decisions and never received a call or contact. Hence I am completing this review instead. It's very unfortunate that the clinic is run this way as I believe that Dr. Martin and most , if not all, of the staff really do want to provide quality care.

A few years ago my Fur-Baby became ill, she declined very quickly and needed care immediately. I called all over to find help. This clinic was the only place that would take her. I am so grateful for the care my "Sweetie" received, because of this care and the amazing staff at the Canton Animal Clinic, she is still with us and has just celebrated her 13th birthday. My daughter graduated High School and was able to celebrate the day with our beloved "Sweetie" .The staff here understand that our pets are family, that they have an impact on human lives and the quality of care for them should match our love for them.Words will never be enough to express just how Forever Grateful we are for saving my girl.

I have nothing but great things to say about this clinic! When we got our puppy Canton Animal Clinic was the only place that would accept her as a patient within her puppy-shot timeframe, so our choice was made. But, time and time again they have been helpful, knowledgeable, caring and timely whether it be a checkup, shots, weigh-in, or spaying. They treat us kindly and take such good care of our pup, I absolutely recommend this clinic!

I’ve gone to this clinic since Dr. Bancroft opened it. Since she left it steadily declined. There have been a few decent Vets there over the years but since COVID the place has gone downhill badly. I have spent literally thousands at this place and yet, I took my dog in for their final visit and spent over 2 hours waiting. The decision to stop your pet’s suffering is hard enough, but to drag it out like that was unbearable! I don’t blame the techs as they only do what they are told. I was even offered a chance to “come back on a better day”! There is no “better day” when you’ve gotten to that point!! The reception staff were marginally cordial which didn’t surprise me as they have to deal with everyone coming in and out and when you’re waiting like that, it causes people to get miserable. But they definitely over book appointments and treat their clients as if they are merely a cash cow. (No pun intended) I will never take another animal there again.

Dr. Thompson and her staff gave wonderful care to my beloved pitbull Lucky for more than nine years of his life. I was touched by how well they know the pets that come to them as family over time. This never became more evident than when that time came that we had to make the decision to end Lucky's time with us and allow him to cross the Rainbow Bridge rather than suffer effects from cancer. Dr. Thompson and her staff....especially Technician Karen made one of the most difficult days of our lives dignified and done with great compassion. What we did not expect after that difficult day was the beautiful plant basket to remember our wonderful boy by and a month later a card of sympathy signed by the entire Canton Animal Clinic staff with messages of remembrance of our boy! He is forever in our memories and missed terribly but these wonderful people have helped us through this period of loss and grief. We God Bless you all for it!

Today was the first time visit for my Zoey here. From walking in the front door to leaving the staff were very nice and professional. Zoey had a sensitive spot and she was not forced to continue treatment which is great (as she is 10 yrs old) will get next visit. I will be bringing my other animals here

Hadn't taken my dog there in 2 years, so the fact that I only had three visits, so could not have emergency care. We don't all take our dogs every month to a vet. What the hell? They would not see a sick dog

Dr. Martin is very compassionate and genuinely cares about your pets. She has been wonderful to deal with. I appreciate all she has done for my dog. The lobby staff and vet techs are friendly and helpful.

At first the place was amazing and when i called a while after my first initial apt i was then finally told i couldnt make an apt due to too many patients to vet ratio and in turn left me no choice to look elsewhere. Never once did they say i needed multiplle appointments in order to be added as a estabilished patient and now my cat is without a vet. Great job to this place for informing new patients on ALL the details to avoid 2 year waiting list.

Got in very quickly. All staff kind and attentive. Just a heads up, there is a courtesy charge for Credit Cards but that would never prevent me from going there.

Caring staff... HOWEVER, prices here continue to go up exponentially! The less than $120 fee we paid for the EXACT SAME service in 2020 has cost us more & more each time since, to $157.60 the last time, a couple of weeks ago. Looking for an alternative!!

We had to put down our 14 year old German Shepherd today. This was a hard one. They were very nice and professional and allowed us time with him while he passed. I am forever grateful for the staff at Canton Animal Clinic.

I think they did a good job caring for my dog. As my dog aged he had difficulty getting into the car and became anxious riding. We lived about 25 minutes away. I called to transfer his care to a vet that was closer. I was informed if I transferred his care they would not see him in the event of an emergency. My thought was is your primary concern really animals??

It's my own fault for not establishing a vet, but, whoever I called that informed me that non clients aren't eligible for emergency services could have shown more compassion. Also, maybe the receptionist could have a list of vets that's do take walk ins for emergency services, I don't know. I get it, they don't have to labor to help every pet owner that calls. Maybe next time they could try to be more helpful.

Horrible, heartless, care more about eating their lunch then helping. Called at 7am for emergency services. No one calls back. Called again and they tell me dog can't be seen until 1. Get there at 1pm, the receptionist tells me that everyone is on lunch it will be a wait. At 1:42 the dog passes away in my arms because your more worried about the money and payment to services you hadn't even preformed yet. The reply to us was, So Sorry we weren't fast enough. Doesn't matter if you spend thousands there year like I did. They will treat you and your beloved pet the same way sooner or later.

Have had nothing but great experiences here especially with having to make a decision of having a pet cross the rainbow bridge. Made the process comfortable and peaceful and I will always appreciate how caring they were during this time especially for a dog that was our first family dog and raised us kids.

I am so thankful I got in with Canton Animal Clinic because they are amazing! It can sometimes take a wait to get in and established, but once you are an established patient it is so worth it. My cats are little mischievous devils who get into everything and this office has always been so great at squeezing them in when emergencies come up. They have an after hours phone service where a real person answers and they get a vet to call you back so fast (less than a hour wait each time for me!). Even when they don't know exactly what's wrong, they clearly lay out options and support you through making decisions. And the receptionists are awesome--those phones are constantly ringing but they are always so helpful and great at their jobs. They are expensive but it's quality care and I highly recommend.

This place is really nice. So far, everyone I’ve dealt with has been kind and caring and extremely patient. It’s not cheap though. Expect to make a pretty good dent in your wallet. I believe you get what you pay for and in this case, the quality is worth the cost.

Absolutely horrid place. Our 9 year old Golden was diagnosed with cancer and late at night, he had a seizure. We called since we only live about 7 minutes away and were told that since “he hasn’t been seen there within 6 months there was nothing they could do”. Exactly 1 month and 1 week after we lost Duke, our 7 year old English bulldog got hit in the road. We called and they told us to head their way. We were approximately 4 minutes away when this VERY RUDE, HORRIBLE woman calls and says that they could not see our dog because of covid. I explained that he was dying and needed help. She very rudely told me to “be mad at my own vet”. These people do NOT care about your pets. We had to watch both of our boys pass away and suffer because of this clinic that claims they offer emergency services. Apparently this ONLY applies to their elite customers. If you love your pets and find yourself in an emergency situation, avoid this place. They only care about their nasty image and NOT your fur babies. Absolutely disgusting “business” and I wish I were able to leave a ZERO STAR REVIEW. Thanks for allowing my babies to pass away in pain and suffering.

Canton Animal Clinic has been amazing to my cat Salem! He ended up swallowing a string a couple months ago and they saw him right away. They even stayed open a half hour late to make sure that he was okay. This vet's office is compassionate and you can tell that they really love the animals that they work with! I wouldn't take Salem anywhere else in the North Country!

We’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with Canton Animal Clinic. The team has always been helpful, courteous and literally life-saving for our dog. They always go above and beyond, reaching out to us after appointments to make sure our dog is still doing alright. We need more people like the staff here in the world. Thank you all again!

Thanks But no thanks

Canton animal clinic does not care about your pets. Money money money is they're only concern. Sure they'll treat you well if your constantly going there shelling out money. If not don't bother with them. You could have an emergency and they couldn't care less unless you're a regular big spender there. The desk people are rude and not compassionate about your situation at all. If they think you don't have lots of money to spend they'll just turn you away and send you somewhere else. Just a bunch of money grubbers I'd stay away if I were you and not encourage this type of business practices.

I would give them 0 stars if possible. After being a customer for 5 years (and gladly taking my money) they refused to see my dog after he got into porcupine quills because he had not been there in the past year for an annual wellness check (you know ... during a global pandemic). Absolutely no compassion for animals or their owners. This place is greedy, lacks ethics, and shouldn't be taking care of animals. I will never return to this place, and I wouldn't encourage anyone that loves their pet to visit this clinic. It is run based on greed, and lacks empathy, ethics, or any moral compass.

It’s a large facility for NNY. They have a good selection of products as well that can be purchased. I really only had two problems with this place. 1. Didn’t catch her name but the receptionist working the evening shift was honestly one of the most rude persons I have come in contact with in a long time. I’ve been there many times before, always paid. Never had an issue, until I forgot my wallet. It was a checkup visit so I only owed like $85 or something and she made a big deal when I asked her to call and pay over the phone tomorrow, which I’ve done at other vet offices many times. After being loud about it so everyone could hear “payment is due when services have been rendered” I apologized and she said muttered under her breath and I asked is it okay if I call and pay first thing tomorrow and she loudly said “well I guess since you say you forgot your wallet and can’t pay tonight... it’s going to have to be ‘fine’ isn’t it?!” Like, not sure if her husband just left her or what, couldn’t say i would blame him if that was the case- but this was totally uncalled for and if I didn’t want to return here I would’ve flipped out and called the vet or management. Other than her, the staff has been great- the vet is awesome. #2 is they need to clean that place better. Wads of dog hair under the seat in waiting room...
