My country vet retired so needed a new one. I drive from Whitney Point because I like how no nonsense Dr Ober is. He’s very efficient, the staff is super nice, and he’s very reasonably priced. I don’t care about his people skills as long as he treats my animals well.

Dr John Ober is am amazing vet! He truly loves animals and never charges exorbitant rates. He's fair, understanding, kind, gentle and so learned in the science of our beloved pets. I have been taking my dogs and cat to him for almost 30 years. He's absolutely the best! Love him!

I have taken my little dog Ozzy to Doctor John ober, for nearly the entire span of his life. I trust nobody else to handle my fur baby. Dr ober is unbelievable in his knowledge about animals. He's very quick whitted, and sharp. So you better be able to keep up. Like I said I won't take Ozzy anywhere else.

Worst place ever. He’s rude, not a good vet & the place is disgusting. Did an ACL surgery & put wrong part in my dog. Then when the wound wouldn’t heal due to his bad work he wanted to amputate her leg. We said no, remove everything. He did, we went to CC they agreed he screwed up. My poor dog had so much pain due to his negligence. AVOID AT ALL COST!!

Very happy to have found Dr Ober. I don't think there are too many around like this any more. After looking into several different vets and going to a different one this past month with a new kitten...it is the only vet office I will want to take my pets to. Dr Ober saved me a ton of time and money...didn't try to talk me into things that are unnecessary at this time and I am very thankful!

I have heard terrible things that have happened to peoples pets under Dr. John Obers care. He has no empathy for your pets. Has had multiply pets (kittens) die due to his neglect during spaying. Kittens dying after a simple spay operation. Sutures opening. Please take you pets to the Humane Society for excellent care of spaying and nurturing. And it's no charge. They accept donations.

Not even worth one star, this is a horrific excuse for an establishment. Ramp up to the building is falling apart, huge safety hazard. What’s even worse is the unsanitary, DISGUSTING environment inside. Went to read reviews after our visit to see the same exact complaints over and over again. Not sure who would be leaving this place a good review, if anything it should be shut down. Countless stories of beloved animals suffering and DYING due to the carelessness of this so called “vet.” Guy is a narcissistic sociopath who exhibits nothing but aggression and recklessness. Don’t dare ask any questions or else he’ll threaten to never offer your animal care again, whether it’s an emergency situation or not. Mention another vet clinic and his insecurities will really start showing. He’ll threaten you and burst into fits of rage, and make it very clear he doesn’t care whether or not your animal is dead or alive. He certainly doesn’t like people, and has ZERO compassion for animals. It’s like watching a toddler throw a tantrum, except this toddler is a grown man who will cuss you out for having any concerns. I have never met someone in this capacity who was so horrendous and unprofessional. Makes it clear that you are a waste of time, good luck receiving adequate care as he will look at your animal for two minutes and verbalize that he couldn’t care any less. Or he won’t even look at your animal and then tell you the only option is putting them down. A JOKE. Who in their right mind says, “Let’s put your dog down, how are you paying for this?” More concerned about his payment than the actual well-being of any animal. Of all the vet clinics I have been to, this is by far my worst experience. I promise this is the LAST sorry excuse of a human being that you should trust your pet with. Absolutely vile. I’m on my way to submit a complaint to the state veterinary licensing board. I’m in shock this garbage dump is still open.

Dr Ober has amazing knowledge when it comes to animals and cares deeply for them. He always works to improve the quality of life for the fur family member. Today he helped us transition our senior dog to the rainbow bridge. He showed such compassion during and after. He scheduled us for the end of the day so we were the last ones in and out giving us a peaceful setting and privacy. He gave us as much time as needed afterwards to spend with her as well. Between his knowledge, care for the animals, and very reasonable prices you can't go wrong.

John has been amazing helping our dog battle Lyme disease. He cut his Father’s Day plans short, just to see us for an emergency visit! He keeps it real and answers your questions (and I always have several) the best he can so that you understand. His prices can’t be beat for the exceptional service he offers.

I think Dr. John is great! I have brought in a few cats over the years that we thought weren't going to make it but he somehow managed to cure them. His knowledge is like no other. He seems to know what's wrong with the animal within minutes of the visit but does the tests to confirm. I find that he is pretty much always on the money with his diagnoses. I have been going to him for years and he can treat pretty much every pet under the son. He has seen my dogs, cats, ferrets, bearded dragon...... He's extremely good at what he does and he does truly care about the animal.People who complain about his bedside manner have to understand that he is an extremely busy vet. I have found that if you respect his time and make an appointment instead of waiting until last minute to see him that he is quite personable. Also, understand that an emergency visit is not the time to ask tons of questions about your pet that are unrelated to the emergency. Save the questions for a scheduled an appointment. In short, do what any decent person should do and respect his time. That being said, I have called him numerous times for emergency visits. Nights and weekends! When other vets turn you away or tell you to go to Cornell, he will always see your sick animal. I have never been turned away by him.

If I could give this office zero stars, I would. There is absolutely no professionalism with this doctor, and in fact, he is downright rude. I paid $70 for my cat to be seen by him for three minutes, just so that my cat can continue to receive the prescription food that he needs. I live well over an hour away, and wanted to make sure the food was in stock before driving all of the way out there, only to be met with questions of why I haven't taken my cat to him since then and that I would have to drive there to find out if the food was there or not. My cat is otherwise very healthy, and well taken care of. Strictly an indoor cat that does not need to be seen all of the time. This did not show me that his concern is my cat, it did show me his concern is his pocket. I will not take any of my animals there in the future, nor will I recommend him to anyone else.

I'm only 22 and this was my first experience with a vet. My rat Monty had a VERY LARGE cancerous tumor and Dr. John took it right out in no time at all. He's a very genuine/honest doctor and he did an amazing job, he promised to try his best and he really did. A few minutes after she woke up, she was herself again and had some yogurt as a treat. I thought I was going to lose her. I appreciate him and the folks at Candor for the work they do.

I cant say enough about this office. They are small town but were willing to fit me in even with the fact that I was not a patient. I had someone's dog who had been hit by a car and when her own vet could not or would not get her in Dr Ober and Jenny were more then sincere getting her in the same day. They handled the pup as if she had always been there. I am so grateful for them taking her case on, it saved her leg and i cant show enough appreciation to them... I will be taking her back in one month for a follow up... Thank you Dr ober and Jenny for your compassion. I'm glad to know there are still vets that truly care about animals and their suffering. It was well worth the one hour drive there.

Called the office to see how much it would cost to get my dog fixed as our vet was going to cost almost $800. The doctor answered and stated NOPE not going to do that and that he will only do it for people that are loyal to him. Well not going to your office anyways if you are going to be rude like that. Do not recommend this vet at all.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. Due to this vets neglect, my kitten has passed away after hours of suffering. I called him, upset and very concerned, she was very sick after a surgery he'd done and vaccine. He acted as though it was no big deal and shrugged her off and told us to see him tomorrow, she didn't make it over night and died of a seizure hours later. My children and I are absolutely devastated, and all he had to say is "I'm sorry to hear that" after arguing with me. If I could give him 0 stars, I WOULD! This is NO emergency vet, pathetic excuse for an animal care giver.

Dr.John is the best vet in this area.He doesn’t care about the money you have to offer, only about helping your animal. Our cat got out and was ran over, John saw him on a moments notice, patched him all up for under 400 dollars, and still checked in to make sure he was recovering ok.All these negative reviews are insane.Every other vet wanted 700+ to walk thru the door. John only cared about making sure my cat survived.Would recommend over and over again!

Honestly wouldn’t even give this dude a fricken 1 star. He’s very very rude. Got mad at me for calling other vets. Tells me that he’s charging me for the tests and for him to call me with the results. Both different charges. All the while got very upset when I said I can go to this other place it’s cheaper. Also they’re good people. But was told he couldn’t see my kitten who’s dying till next week then proceed to get very upset when I told him I’m taking him to someone else tomorrow! Then proceeded to down me and then told me “ ya know what? I’m gonna put ur phone number in my phone so I can block it for wasting my time” ummm wow. For one a lady told me he has no bed side manors. That’s a fact. He’s very self absorbed like the world revolves around him and like he’s the best out there! I remember going to this place when my mother had to for an emergency visit for her dog and it was beyond dirty. I can not believe this guy thinks he’s something special!!! Last I checked it’s freedom to go searching around for the best case scenario for your situation!! He will down you for it and say cause you called to ask him questions like any parent would do with their child Same as a pet that ur wasting his time. He will threaten you too! He’s trash! I wouldn’t take my pets there even if he was the only one left in case of an emergency! He’s not worth anyone’s time. To be honest as well I know damn well nobody who truly loves their pets wrote good reviews. He paid them or it’s friends and family. News flash dude on a pedestal you ain’t poop! Get of f your high horse!

My rabbit Of almost 12 years Went to him for the first time. He complained about how old he was when I came to drop him off . We discussed his age when I spoke with him weeks prior to our visit. I dropped him off at 8 o’clock he called me at 11 o’clock and told me to pick him up. He didn’t have the proper tools that he told me he had in our prior conversation. He said he did his best grinding down his back teeth I didn’t know how he really did because he couldn’t see him because he didn’t have the proper tools. He charged me over $100 for the visit. I noticed he shaved my bunnies ear and gave him a needle in his ear. I brought him home he was very scared and was hiding and wouldn’t come out of his box. He didn’t want to play with me and I noticed he started to cough a couple days later.My bunny is very sick and he wasn’t even there long. He stopped eating and thank God the cat doctor in Endicott is taking care of him. He’s a rescue I’ve had him myself for seven years and he has never been sick for me ever . I’m hoping he gets better and gets through this but he is the worst vet and I would never bring my dogs or any animal I ever had in the future to him. I think all the good reviews are ones he wrote himself.

Dr. John Ober is absolutely amazing. I've always taken my cats to him and he's always been so good with them. He is very blunt and honest which is so good as he doesn't try to make you spend money on tests that aren't necessarily needed. I would definitely recommend him to anyone for your pets... a lot of ppl say he isn't good with people, well he's not a doctor for you, so if you want someone that has true compassion for your pet please contact him, he is the most amazing vet I have ever met.
