Not a bad place to find some different toys. Had been there for decades. They immediately do not allow any dogs inside the store. Even service dogs apparently. Kind of makes it tough to shop there anymore.Update: your staff didn't even give me a chance. No sooner did I walk in I was being told to leave without being asked if he is a service dog or not. Maybe you should hang a sign to specify and have your staff actually ask instead of just making there own assumptions and kicking everyone out. A little communication can go a long way. I carry documentation on me at all times to prove he is a service dog not that you have to technically show it on New York. I know the argument can be made on both sides, I just think that there is a better way to go about things than immediately kicking someone out without chance.

Very Nice toys store in Canandaigua! Tons and tons of toys to choose from. The staff was very friendly and very helpful! Definitely worth a stop over if you are in the area!

I found this toy store online while searching for a toy my 3 year old told Santa he wanted for Christmas. The customer service was amazing and they went out of their way to help me. Highly recommend!

The staff is super awesome and friendly! They're super helpful with all questions! They have a lot of cool Tous! (Hence the name lol) they have fish, which my son loved, we Definitely will be going there for the next holiday.

I love shopping at the Unique Toy Shop! They have a huge selection of toys you cannot find in any other storefronts. The staff is super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about all the products they carry. Highly recommend checking out this wonderful toy shop if you are looking for a unique experience or for a gift any kid will love!

We love this place SO MUCH!! The name is extremely fitting, you are guaranteed to find things here that you haven't seen anywhere else... And the employees are super friendly and happy to chat. They seemed amused when they asked how old our kids were and we had to explain that we don't have kids, we came to shop for ourselves!

I went in the store with my toddler and holding my 10lb dog. As I’m showing my toddler a toy by the door a lady quickly approaches me and says “You’ll have to leave, dogs are not allowed!”. I was caught so off guard bc there are no signs saying no dogs allowed or else we would have not went inside. I understand not all stores allow dogs but the tone was not welcoming at all. For a toy store I would think it would be more of a friendly environment. When approaching customers it’s all about tone “Sorry we don’t allow dogs in the store” would have been nice.

Wonderful! I have an adult "child" with special needs, and the staff was so helpful with suggestions for what I explained I was in search of. I usually have trouble finding items that work with her capacity level and cognitive abilities. At Unique Toy Shop, rather than being frustrated with not finding what would work for her, I was actually able to make choices because of the wonderful and quality selections they had! I was also able to get good quality items for my grandkids too! THIS PLACE S FANTASTIC AND THEIR STAFF IS TOO!

We love shopping here for our children! Charming, local, family owned business who takes pride in the products they offer their customers. You can be sure you will always find that perfect item that you will not find in a big name store. So many imaginative play, creative, and educational items throughout! FANTASTIC TOY SHOP!Katie, her daughter and staff are super knowledgeable about every item in the store which quickly helps to choose the toys for certain age groups. Of course, you may not want a quick trip as the offerings are so amazing. They will captivate you to linger.I have been shopping there since my kids were little (now in their 40s). Yesterday, shopping for my grandkids, nieces and nephews.Thank you, Katie, for the wonderful experiences over the past 45 years. I just had to leave a review, this store has been one of my favorite places to stop on main street since I was a teenager, and now it's just awesome to be able to bring my little ones in, the staff is always friendly, even if we're just there to browse and play a bit, my kiddos love it and the toys are truly unique and quality, my kiddos love visiting and ABSOLUTELY LOVE when we get a little surprise for them. I reccomend stopping in, I guarantee you will enjoy yourself.

Went there for the first time and the last. If my grandchild didnt want the toy i would have left without buying a darn thing.1st. Why an employee can follow someone around like they are doing something wrong ia crazy.2 . When i cashed out i explained my issue with the casher and asked where to leave a review. The other employee came up and said if you have something to say come say it to my face. Beyond belief i said back i have my grandchild with me this isnt the time or the place.3. Concerned about covid is an excuse they gave me . If that is the case why is the store open its a toy store all the toys are being touched by children . Please..This is a toy store where children are do you think this is ok because i do not.I tried to avoid the situation and if i was there alone i would have had alot more to say..but i refuse to say anything around my grandchild or other children. Dont shop there.. Stay clear..Read response back from store.There are plushies or stuffed animals throught different sections of the store. Please stop with the excuses. You dont know if myself or grandchild is vaccinated. We will not be back and have talked to others. Might not be typical well other reviews show different others complain about be followed... Looks like it hasnt stopped. RATHER SPEND MY MONEY ANYWHERE ELSE BUT YOUR STORE

I love this shop. I bring residents from my direct support job in on a regular basis and staff is always friendly, helpful, and very interactive. Also the store just has a great selection of--you guessed-- Unique Toys. I personally love the insect figurines and can never resist getting a new one.

This toy store is awesome. There are virtually no toy stores left but this place is doing it right. They have a great selection of toys for boys and girls and they are all good quality. You wont find cheap big box store items here but if want toys that will last like the ones we had 30 yrs ago then this is the place. Lots of STEM items and toys/games that are fun and good for early development.

LOTS of stuff from yr childhood, teens & post childhood years. Prices are kinda expensive, but they've got LOTS of stuff! Parking is tough near the shop, but if you see one, grab it -they go quick. Staff is knowledgeable & friendly to help you find what you need, want or just want to play w/, you can EASILY spend $$$ here! It's always nice to go to a (decent) toy shop to re-connect w/ your inner child, do it often, then repeat!

A great place to stop by for the kids to explore. Always have toys and items that are not found elsewhere. And a lot if not most are educational or hands on items... The kids love it, and it has been around for some time.. We definitely recommend.

Absolutely loved doing my holiday shopping at the Unique Toy Shop this year - we just moved back to Canandaigua from Florida and love the shops and charm of Downtown Canandaigua. It was a fun and memorable shopping experience and the family that owns the store couldn't be more kind. Loved seeing the new addition to the store too! Will be back to shop for our nieces and nephews' birthdays soon. :)

Such a large variety of toys that you won't find in the big discount stores. We come here a lot for Christmas and birthdays. They have expanded into a second store front recently, so there is a wider selection and a roomier environment. Sure, you can find a lot of this stuff online, but many of their toys you wouldn't even think to search for. My family loves this place!

Wonderful toy store in the heart of Canandaigua, NY. Has many unusual toys that you can't find in the chain stores like target, Walmart etc. They carry premium puzzles, geodes to Crack open, lots of great products.

I've lived here a while & every time I drove by this toy shop, I'd tell myself I'd have to remember to check it out sometime, but life kept happening & sometime never came. Almost 2 years passed, but when I had family visiting, they wanted to check it out, so we did! This toy store has EVERYTHING!!!! My Mom saw toys from *her* childhood, I saw toys from *my* childhood & they had everything in between & more! They had any & every kind of stuffed animal you could imagine (even a stuffed Standard Poodle!), board games galore, TONS of fun little trinkets perfect for birthday party goodie bags & speaking of birthdays, if you live anywhere even REMOTELY close to this store, you should go here for ALL your kids' friend's birthday gifts! I sincerely hope anyone who reads this will check this store out, even if only to take a stroll through & see what they have! If you do, I know at the very least you'll be entertained with' "I remember this!" & "So & so used to LOVE that!" & I can pretty much promise the next time you need a gift for something, you'll go back & find the *perfect* gift!

We walked in the Saturday of the Kris Kringle fair at the carriage museum. I have a 2 yr old and 4 year old. When we walked in, we were greeted politely, but they became less friendly and even annoyed as my kids touched the toys. One lady followed my son around putting everything back and the short hair lady looked very annoyed we were in there. I should have known better than to bring two little kids to a toy shop, but were in the spirit of visiting small businesses. With that kind of attitude, why would I go back to spend twice as much on something I could get off Amazon. RIDICULOUS!! .. I sure hope neither of these two owned the shop, it would be a shame!

This unique and adorable Toy Shop is tucked in the cute village of Canandaigua. There are two rooms full of wonderful toys, educational games, and goodies you wouldn't see anywhere else. The owner spent a few minutes chatting with us about his background, and was very kind. He stopped to help a young shopper looking for something specific. He was very sweet to his customers. We may drive out here (almost 2 hours from home) to Christmas shop later this year. Next time you're in Canandaigua make sure you stop and shop for the young people in your life!

This is one of my favorite stores. It has such a great selection of toys and kid activities! I do all my toy-related shopping here. Also, they will wrap things for you free of charge - VERY helpful when you leave gift shopping to the last minute.
