Congratulations to Canandaigua Veterinary Hospital on welcoming Dr. Stiner to your team! She's been our trusted veterinarian for over 20 years, providing no-nonsense, fact-based care that's helped our pets thrive. Her unwavering pursuit of excellence and compassionate care has left an indelible mark on our hearts and the lives of our cats and dogs (who all live to old age in her care). Her addition will undoubtedly elevate CVH's commitment to excellence in animal care.

Don't trust older reviews, they've been bought out. This place is the definition of a veterinary practice to be avoided. Your beloved pet is simply a dollar sign to this corporate-owned facility.I've lived in a few states and been to several vets with my aging dog, this is hands down the worst experience I've ever had.My now 14 year old dog has been going here for over almost 2 years. She's on prescription allergy meds and food.Today, when I emailed for a copy of her prescription so I could pick up a bag of food out of town, they told me they have no record of her prescriptions. None. Funny, they know she's on the rx food and they've been approving her chewy orders but now that I need it, it's gone. At first they refused to even email me a copy but then decided they can do that but it'll take 72 hours to rewrite the prescription we already had. I hope my frustration is adequately coming through. I asked them to please ask for it to be done faster as it's their mistake and she responded with, "I don't tell the vet what to do." Ohhh man, thanks for nothing.Don't get me started on how long it took them to actually look at her records and incorporate them into their system. Appointments are booked months out, even if you're desperate.Take your pets anywhere else you can get an appointment, this place is a joke. It's run worse than corporate-owned prisons.

Took my dog to the vet today. Been going to this vets office for years & the last 3 visits have been nothing but issues. Ever since the last doctor & office manager left the quality of service & care for my pets has severely declined. Today was the final straw for us, we went for what we thought was a wellness check up, a rabies shot & a Lyme vaccine. They’ve always done the appointment in the exam room with us for whatever reason they felt compelled today to take my dog into the back & administer she shots & perform her “exam” in the back. I still do not trust her exam was done, they had her for all or 3 minutes & usually each time were there it’s about a 30 minute appointment. The tech brought my dog back & said “your dogs all set, we had to muzzle her, you can check out at the front”. I said wait what? Where’s my appointment? Her wellness check? You put a muzzle on her? For what reason!!! They stated because she was growling. I said yes because I told you guys she had anxiety being away from me & you insisted on taking her in the back for her shots , I never agreed to taking her for her full appointment. I always ask questions, the doctors explains things to me & asks me questions. I actually had a list of things I wanted to talk about but I guess none of that mattered. They brought me to the front counter to collect their money & could tell I was furious. They asked if I wanted to talk with the office manager, I said sure, which was a huge waste of my time & a joke. She’s a poor excuse for an office manager. All she could keep saying is “I’m sorry” & “I’m trying to explain”. No explantation is going to be okay, I paid for an appointment that I truthfully don’t think they did. After I got up & walked out of the exam room with the office manager , I went to the counter & was still furious, she said do you want me to write your questions down & ask the doctor or do you want to check out!? I said well I’d like to have my appointment that I pay for so that I can ask questions as I always do. She didn’t seem to care. I don’t know if she’s a new office manager but she was so cold & dry & a poor excuse for a “manager. She then told me that I needed to stop swearing (which valid- but then see I’m upset & do something about it. Don’t just keep giving me a load of excuses. This is my dog. This isn’t some item at a grocery store). Then she told me “I think it’s time for you to go”. Also not something you say to a paying customer & someone who brings their dog their for you to care for them. The lack of care to my dog is unacceptable. I will never refer anyone here & I never want to step foot in this “vet office” again. I demand to speak with someone higher than this “Erin chick”. I’m fuming, pissed off, angry & I still paid $170.00 for an appointment that I truly didn’t even have. There were NO NOTES on the paperwork I was provided that told me anything other than my dogs attitude was “anxious”. If she truly needed a muzzle because you were truly afraid of her then I suggest putting down a different attitude description than anxious. By the way the dogs breed is an ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIEL. If anyone knows anything about that breed they know that that breed is a far cry away from something to be “afraid of”.

Dr Steiner is extremely condescending and unprofessional. We have come to this vet hospital for years and with all of our animals- we’ve just recently seen Dr Steiner. She is the first and only vet to recommend we switch to the cheap Kibbles and Bits, and after finally questioning her judgement because this has been happening for over a year, she then referred to me as someone “watching commercials with a Karen holding a bag of dog food and false advertisement that misleads people. And that reading the front of a dog food bag that says ‘grain free’ is actually a gimmick.” My husband and I have done research on the food we feed our dogs, have never taken the word for a commercial (I can’t even recall the last dog food commercial I’ve seen, as we don’t typically watch regular TV) and we don’t feed them a grain free option, anyway! I explained that I read ingredient labels, not just the front of a bag, then asked if bi-products were considered okay for dogs, and she then questioned me on if I knew the definition of a bi-product- I asked you, as the professional? Received a poor explanation- as all she did was ask me what my dog would eat if she found a dead rabbit in the woods. She wouldn’t… How did that answer my question? Very unpleasant and unlike any veterinarian we’ve ever seen at this facility. After 10+ years, we will be switching to a more credible vet office and will not be returning.

Such a caring staff. I recently had to put my 15 and a half year old pug to rest. They made it as peaceful and comforting as possible. When I get a new pet, I hope to have them as a vet.

I switched vets after my dog's anxiety was misdiagnosed. Dr. Jarnot diagnosed him right away, and his anxiety was managed perfectly. The whole staff here is knowledgable, friendly, and happy. It's nice to have my dog looked after by people who clearly love their job.

Highly Recommended. I just said goodbye to my beautiful kitty of 15 years. She was sick for a short time and I did not want her to suffer. Dr. Ally was kind and compassionate letting me know all my options and giving me time to make the best decision for me and my kitty. The entire staff was professional and sensitive to my very emotional situation. A few months ago, I was there and saw Dr. Amanda and she was equally kind & compassionate. This was by far the hardest day of my life so far and their care & compassion made it a bit easier.

I am totally upset with the veterinary services right now. Don’t even deserve 1 star. My cat was attacked by a dog and severely injured and refused to see my cat. They said call the next day IF there was a time slot for my cat to be seen. Poor service, that is no service at all for our beloved family member. You would THINK that these vets LOVE animals and what have gone above and beyond with compassion to take care of my cat.... I am totally confident a lot of other pet people got turned away like we where and totally agree with me....

This is the most caring & sympathetic group of doctors & staff. I'm astounded by & appreciate the level of genuine concern & care when I had to make the difficult decision to euthanize my cat; they made her end comfortable. And they also cared for her very well while she lived.

Extraordinary is absolutely an understatement for this wonderful practice! I was recently faced with the most difficult decision of my life... to say goodbye to my 13+ yr old Akita.Dr Samala was by far the MOST compassionate doctor I have ever encountered! She was incredibly patient and explained every detail for me to make the most informed decision for my "soul puppy"! She was truly my "Angel" that day and sincerely cared for my pup AND me! I am so very grateful to her! Moreover, the entire staff was so kind and understanding allowing me all the time I needed to say goodbye to my baby girl and lovingly caring for her!We were certainly blessed to have been in the best place possible at such a difficult time! Thank you from my heart!God bless you all! Jean & Kiara <3

I love coming to visit, but then I realize that I have to go to the back room with my favorite tech staff for my "clean out". I know how to break out of the office - sometimes Tracey locks the door, so I can't push the doors open with my big paws.

We had to say goodbye to our Yellow Labrador Retriever of 15 years. Not only was Dr. Rockcastle integral in her care and getting her to 15 years, when it came time to let her go, Dr. Rockcastle and the office staff were so compassionate and caring, not only for Ellie, but also for us. They allowed us the time it took for us to say goodbye. We never felt rushed, only that she was there to help us through the transition no matter how long it took.

I recently had to say goodbye to my 18+ year old cat. Dr. Jarnot, Dr. Rockcastle and Dr. Stiner were so amazing and compassionate along with the wonderful receptionists and techs. I can’t thank them enough for their kindness and care. I have been going here since we moved to the area 9 years ago and I highly recommend Canandaigua Veterinary Hospital.

Amazing, kind staff that took very good care of our dog. We were very impressed the first time- and when she ripped her stitches out they got her right in a second time as well. We cannot say enough good things! We are not going to take our dog elsewhere!

My dog had Kennel Cough only a couple of months after his vaccination. He was in bad shape, and I could not get in to this location because they were closed down, no message on the machine, no answer when calling, so I drove to the location since they are scheduled to be open. Arrived to just a note on the door. Called the emergency and after hour affiliated Pittsford location...told it wasn't considered an emergency. Went through the others on the call list, and they could set up the "Emergency visit" in about a week. Ended up going to Cornell Veterinary School an hour and 40 minutes away. After fluids, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, etc. were needed due to pneumonia starting. This place is overbooked and understaffed. Meaning that they have too many patients for their size.... it is not an effective business practice.I will be looking elsewhere for future needs.I did reach out for an appointment… well visits are 4 months out. It’s sad that current clients can’t get in when they need to to help maintain their pets health.

All of the staff I have interacted with are kind, friendly and patient. They have always accommodated my special needs with my sometimes less than cooperative pets. After several visits, I completely trust them with the care of my babies.

After my previous vet retired and I hadn't found a new vet yet due to covid, I found my cat near death one day so I called as a new patient and they brought me right in for an appointment. They saved my little guy :) Because of my cat's chronic condition, I have gone here many times since my original visit in August 2020 and with every visit I receive nothing less than top notch service. Every person I have interacted with has been so incredibly kind, compassionate, and helpful. You can tell they really care about their clients. I am so happy that I found this practice!

We have been clients for over 4 years and could not be more pleased. The entire staff is caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. Our dogs have been seen by all of the vets---all have been outstanding. Appointments are always timely, especially when the need is urgent. We are very impressed with the vets' follow-up calls related to visits and questions. The calls are timely and thorough. We are especially grateful to all staff members for their compassion during our senior dog's illness and euthanasia. They made this difficult experience as peaceful as possible and provided us with a great deal of emotional support. Now we have a new puppy, and everyone has been so helpful and patient with us as new parents. We feel that they are giving our pup the best possible start and care.

I love this veterinarian hospital they truly care about your animals and you're furry Friends which is a part of your family and there's. I like that they treat you a human and a few forget your appointment on accident that they treat you well that you in as quick as they possibly can for the next appointment. The customer service reps are very nice and very eligible of the services that they have. I went there with my service dog Artie he was having some troubles with him and they help me a lot and they understand important Artie was to me. I was strongly recommend this very hospital to anyone and to my friends they are the most respectable people in veterinarians I know
