Very nice old style general store with a very good selection of ready to eat desserts. Fresh homemade breads, the oatmeal bread is wonderful. The store also has some hardware aisles with hard to find products.

Well I stopped there with my family and my Service K9. After being in the store for about 12 to 15 minutes the older lady behind the counter started telling me to leave, dogs aren't welcome here. I told her and my mother told the lady that it's a Service K9 (which is wearing his vest) and under the ADA Laws he is welcome to be there. I showed her my credentials and encouraged her to read the back of the card about the ADA Law to educate herself. Once that she saw that I did have a card her tune changed and she didn't have any problem taking the $37.00 for organic beef liver that I feed my Service K9.

These lovely folks and this wonderful store are such a great addition to the community.They try to source from Mennonite producers and are thoughtful about each item.I look forward to trying many of the specialized products for preserving and canning someday. They have terrific sandwich meats and cheeses at attractive prices. Their herbs and spices also seem to be a bargain. The whole wheat bread is made from grain that Dorcas grinds herself !! I make new discoveries at every visit.Not sure I should be spreading the secret but .... the Canaan General Store is a treasure .

An amazing general store. Has literally just about everything anyone could need for anything in general. Great prices, great service, and top quality products. Do yourself a favor and get a sandwich from the deli, probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. All around a 5 star business!!!

Just stopped really quick while passing through to grab a drink and boy were we amazed. Amazing selection of grocery items along with a deli that offers sandwiches on four different varieties of bread made in house daily. The wife and I have already said that it will now become a destination for an afternoon ride in the future. They also sell outdoor furniture and I believe run a small BBQ Cafe on the same property it just wasn't open when we stopped, but believe me I definitely would have grabbed some barbeque had it been open.

An amazing find in the middle of nowhere. They have everything you could think of, and more! Everything from spaetzle to sprinkles! Bulk products, fun, unusual baking products, dried goods, candy, and more! The homemade bread is hard to beat, and the deli is great. They also have a hardware section, although I'm usually so lost in the food aisles, I haven't explored that much. This place is worth a trip out of your way.

This is a very cool place, and they do sell everything from rain gutters to deli sandwiches. Their baked goods are excellent, and I often swing in for bulk spices and seeds.

The best authentic general store we've found in a long while. The variety is of provisions is vast. It ranges from the BEST farm fresh butter and eggs, to a large selection of nuts, bolts, screws, household goods. Freshly picked lettuce , tomatoes and so muchvmore. A full service deli counter. Family run. Extremely helpful service. And they go out of their way to get what you need. We never miss a chance to stop in and pick up what we need, and even itens,we love like rocking chairs for the front porch and so on. It's impossible to list it all here. Don't miss it.

I love the Canaan General Store. While I don't live near it, I will stop there several times a year (it's not far from I-90 near the NY - Mass border. There aren't many general stores left and this one is worth a visit.

Canaan General Store is truly one of a kind. Food items you'll find nowhere else. Hardware. Paint & supplies. Lawn furniture. Local produce and meat. Free-range chickens and eggs. The largest variety of candy you are likely to find anywhere. Family owned and operated. Very nice people. Closed on Sundays.

Great place to find unexpected stuff. Remember that you need a snow shovel and a box of nails when getting fresh milk, local eggs, and cold cuts? If you are here, it is no problem!
