It was a nice place to stop on a long trip from Newport to Northern Michigan.Easy access to the highway.The owner was nice and was working with the construction crew to update things around the place.My favorite part was the family that was living in the rooms below mine.I had to negotiate a daycare collection of children's toys in the parking lot.Actually the children were still out there playing with them.The adults, did appear later to argue with another guest about parking.(I should have known the sidewalk chalk drawings were an off limits area, even though the were directly in front of my door in the center of the parking lot.)The adults did finally claim the area by sitting on the ground in the center of the parking lot, surrounded by sidewalk chalk art and kids toys.If you want a travel story to tell to your friends, stop here!

You get what you pay for.It's the best deal around.Ya'll that are complaining,Are just barking like a hound.Edit: from 5* to 3*I am very tolerant typically but enough is enough. (Every one's complaints are accurate)There's no water now and no one to get ahold of, instead of going to bed i'm stressed out now and going to have to go to a store to get water to brush my teeth. There's no one at the property to even apologize or anything, i would help and try to fix the problem for free cause I have a lot of construction knowledge but there's now way to even do that.If I get refunded for tonight i'll go back to 5 star and erase this no water part.

My husband and son stood there for the weekend because it was close to where they were hunting. The walls were dirty ,floors disgusting,cobb webs all over the room.Looks like the blankets haven’t been washed in years.The air conditioner would go on then off every 30 minutes. The smell of smoke in the room was over whelming .The bathroom was so gross you were better off peeing in a cup. Thank god they had sleeping bags to sleep in on the bed .would not recommend

Even though the staff was very kind and helpful, the room itself was dirty. The sheets had been changed but that was about it. An animal had thrown up under the table and no one bothered to clean ot up. It hadn’t been dusted in ages as there were heavy cobwebs along the ceiling, walls, and lamp shade. The heater worked very well which was needed since it was cold out. I feel bad giving such a poor review as the staff was kind, however they need more staff to clean.

When I first arrived, there was trash all over the property, and much of the structure and stairs were rickety. It looked like nothing had been painted or updated for several years. The photo shows the pool clean and full of blue water, but during last summer it was empty, dirty, and closed off. There was no breakfast except packaged "treats" that you had to pay for. The carpet in our room was not clean, so we always wore shoes, and the shower was in bad shape. The sheets and other bedding was iffy. It was expensive because of its location (close to Tanglewood, etc.) and we would have left if we could have found another place to stay. It was one of our worst travel experiences and would never stay there again.

Kind of a dump. Didn’t find any bugs (Mild surprise). Visible rot on exterior, stairs seemed a bit risky. Pool was covered - unusable; not sure what the mattress outside the pool area was for- overflow? A couple of long term renters were availing themselves to some fresh air / first daylight when we arrived for checkin at 2 PM, which was then pushed back, again, to 2:30.It was comforting to know that NARCAN was available at the front desk (?). Some interesting stains on the walls and furniture.The shower actually dispensed hot water, and the towels were clean- but not amply supplied. So, after breathing heavy, oddly tasting air discharged by the noisy - but much needed - air conditioner, used mostly to treat the foul, musty air in the room, I took a shower, dried off as best I could, dropped my key in the box on the “office”, and high- tailed it out of there. Next time, sleep in your car.

If you want a cheap place with dirty rooms, hair all over the blankets, hair in the showers, sketchy reddish brown dried spots in the floor, hard beds and rude service, this is the place for you! If you want a safe, comfortable place to sleep, your car may be a better option. We wanted to leave but the room was non refundable and there aren't many other options in the area. You will leave wishing you hadn't come and feeling a lot dirtier than when you walked in. Edit: We ended up leaving and driving 20 minutes to a Hilton Garden Inn ... Save yourself money and just go there right away.! We want to eatRooms: Rooms are old and dirty! Literally worse than the guesthouses I've stayed at in 3rd world countries!!!!

i’m only giving one star because 0 is not an option. all the rooms smelled horrific (like mold, mildew and YEARS of cigarette smoke). there were stains on the ceiling, and the washcloths in the bathroom were grey (not by design they were just disgusting). the building is decrepid and falling apart. the bedsheets had burn holes in them.Rooms: DisgustingSafety: unsafe

It may not be the Ritz Carlton, but the staff is friendly, it's in a great location and the rates are great. The world is full of complainers and people who just want to knock on someone else's hard work. I say your doing great Berkshire. I will be back! Also I forgot to mention, to all the people who claim cigarette burns and smells. It is smoke free, oh how I love know it all people who don't smoke and think they know it all.

Definitely not a horrible hotel. The room was a little musty smelling when I came in. However, it is definitely bearable. Beds were made, room was clean, bathroom was clean. They have a small breakfast place in the office with hot coffee, orange juice, apple juice. They also had toast with butter and different jellies and Honey buns muffins, etc. I think for what we paid it was definitely very nice experience. It says their pet friendly I had two dogs with me my wife and 14 month old baby. We had no issues at all. The AC worked well. I didn't even know they had a pool. But if I am down this way again, I will be renting again and I will be looking for the pool!

This hotel was so filthy I had to get a room somewhere else. It smelled terrible, cigarette burns and stains on the blankets, floor in the bathroom was visibly disgusting. I’ve never seen anything like it. Absolutely foul.

Re-edit: Good place to stay when you're in a pinch and no other option is available. Had difficulty speaking with the front desk regarding a reservation as it seems English is not the dominant language. They understand you, but you have to speak slowly and spelling things so you will need patience to get by. I had originally given a good review but after 1 night of stay, I wanted to extend my stay for at least a couple more nights, which didnt happen at all. Was told my room was already booked by someone else and needed to leave, even though i told the front desk person the day before i was planning to stay longer if my Boss didnt call me the next morning with a load out of the truck stop. So long story short my stay got shorted very quickly, the room experience was ok to say the least, the bed was definitely a little rough to sleep in so i woke up with a sore back. The cleanliness of the room was acceptable and was quiet with good A/C for the night. Breakfast was pretty much non existing as other guests have already mentioned, limited to just coffee made in a pot and a few single wrapped pastries like twinkies and cupcakes. Maybe a piece of toast with butter. Thats about it. If you need the sleep for a day i guess its okay, if you need extended stay you better say that upfront because they give priority to reservations and if there are no rooms left, then you need to leave before 10:30am. 1 star deducted for not being able to clarify the miscommunication in plain simple terms and 1 other star for so-so service. The gentleman cleaning the rooms was perhaps the best interaction i had in all the time I stayed. 3 stars for this instance.

Will not stay again. Place is in disrepair and not maintained properly. Never saw pool (and wouldn’t risk to use it). Soap doesn’t work at all. Toilet clogged (although there was a note attached to it that it was disinfected. How)?Windows dirty and full of dead bugs. Paint on stairs peeled and hanging down. Shower door was peeled from water damage. They give you 1 tiny pillow - you have to ask for more.There were couple nice tables outside - but with garbage cans filled to the top. Couldn’t sleep well. Breakfast was coffee, donuts and bread only - did not want to taste it.

Unacceptable accommodations. Didn't stay there. Room was not clean. Bedspreads had burn holes, mirror was smeared with something, bathroom door was falling apart, smelled musty.Noteworthy details: Last motel I will book with the name Travel Lodge in it.

Very cheap, but that's pretty much the only redeeming quality. The wifi was unusable, and there's no reception either (not their fault but makes better wifi a must). The room was okay, nothing special. The porch outside the room was absolutely covered in spiderwebs with giant spiders, they should definitely clean this up. If you want a better motel around the same price not far from here, try the Pilgrim Inn.

ALL SMOKE AND MIRRORS To the management you all need to take the time and read your reviews. Your place has gotten terrible.I stayed a many times in 2015, 2016 and 2017 for Berkshire and Canaan summer trip. Very pleased. What happen, have you turned over ownership? Cause it is now a dump. If you all read this before you book. Don't do it. Reviews read. Save your cash. Sleep in your car at the rest truck stop over the tracks.The restrooms are top notche.Being as honest & truthful."Zero Stars"Berkshire Travel Lodgetake classes in Hospitality along with your Banking.Bye bye never ever again.

Upon our arrival to our room, we noticed that the batteries had been taken out of the smoke alarm. I pushed them back in, then it went off while someone was in the shower (which is probably why the batteries were out). I spoke to management, expressing my concern- he said the previous people who stayed probably took the batteries out and their staff never put them back in. Big safety concern!Lots of other pretty gross things about the room but our biggest concern was not knowing how many working smoke detectors there actually were.Management said he would look at the smoke detector in our room before the next people come.
