This place is every bit as good as your local vet. They are caring and loving and will treat your animal companion with compassion. Carol and Tina at the front desk are especially great to deal with and are wonderful over the phone too. Our mini dachshund Beatrix was spayed for 1/3 the cost of our local vet and the treatment was exactly the same. Highly recommended.

Kent animal shelter went above and beyond to help/save my girl Princess. My dog is my child and our world and she is now doing amazing after her surgery. Thank you Kent animal shelter for working with us, helping us financially also so we can keep our baby .

They have the nicest, most caring people working there. They have a great selection of dogs who are cared for, vaccinated and spayed/neutered before adoption. We have only adopted from them. This is Holly and Sabrina!

Very poor management. The only rescue that has no trainer to help the dogs become behaved enough to be rescued. They won't out money into a trainer. They get so many generous donations, but clearly nothing goes to the animals there. The place where the dogs are held is disgusting. Kennels are dirty, too small, and the dogs are getting injured by the front wiring. They have no heat at night. These animals need to be rescued and placed in another facility that cares for them properly.

I find it completely ridiculous how every one star review is replied to with “back talk” and calling people who are sharing their experience at your shelter “liars”. It’s completely unprofessional. If you’re upset with something someone says, why not take it into consideration, and put it towards making your shelter a better place. Take it as advice. If I had read that before visiting your shelter, how you respond to people alone would deter me from visiting at all. Aggressive defensiveness is a sign of guilt. What I’ve read in everyone’s one star review in regards to the condition of the place is true. It is in terrible condition. The beds are chewed to a point where a dog would cut its mouth on the side. They are obviously reused to a ridiculous extent, and even witnessing it by going there the day after they received a new ‘shipment’ of dogs’ when we were there two day earlier and the place was filled with completely different dogs. From what I’ve heard, the excuse is- “ We’re re-renovating” -And has been for a very long time.I have also heard from several other horrible stories about how employees, people who are not Caucasian, and Or don’t look old enough is taken into constant consideration by the owners and management. But I won’t bother sharing that because it will probably be replied from Kent as ‘false statements’. All I can say is; I would not bring a dog here If I needed help rescuing it, and I would not go here to Adopt. I do not support this place. This review isn’t for Kent to see in hopes they change something, I do not care about what their response might be. It’s meant for the anyone who is considering going there for any type of business as a warning.

My recent visit to Kent Animal Shelter left me deeply disturbed and saddened. From the moment I stepped inside, the atmosphere felt grim and neglected. The facility was unkempt, with an overwhelming stench of urine and feces assaulting my senses.Staff members seemed indifferent and overwhelmed. Requests for assistance were met with apathy, and it was evident that the resources needed to provide proper care were severely lacking.Furthermore, the adoption process was disorganized and inefficient, with potential adopters left waiting for extended periods without any assistance or guidance. It was clear that the shelter prioritized quantity over quality, with little regard for the welfare of the animals or the satisfaction of potential adopters.In conclusion, my experience at Kent Animal Shelter was nothing short of heartbreaking. It is evident that this facility is in desperate need of reform and increased support to provide the care and attention that these animals so desperately deserve. I would strongly advise against supporting this shelter until significant improvements are made.

I was so ready to stop by and visit this morning,,, and then I read the replies to the reviews,,,, it was the immature, bad attitude in the responses from the animal shelters owner?!? (What the app says) that convinced me,,, if y’all can’t even speak professionally, how are you going to be professional?Whether that’s effective at your job or effective customer service, either way the lack of composure,, and maturity left in the responses is very offputting and I’m glad I saw you call people a liar, telling them they’re spreading misinformation that they need to get your facts straight before I came in because how are you handle yourself Shows a lot of how you handle other animals

Kent Animal Shelter Clinic:I scheduled an appointment for my female cat to get fixed, they fit me in quickly and were very nice! I picked up my cat the next day, all seemed to be fine. 12 hours after bringing her home, her incision began to open. I luckily have a vet friend who directed me to purchase a cone, in case my animal was the cause. 24 hours after picking her up, 12 of which she had a cone for, her incision was almost completely open. I called multiple times, left multiple voicemails and ultimately with getting no reply took her to my vet. I continued to call multiple times a day, leaving voicemails, even my vet called trying to get ahold of her records from the surgery. I asked them to please call me back ASAP, and still no call back or reply. I have still yet to get a call back. Please note, when booking the appointment they returned my voicemail only hours after, but when it came to my cats health, there was nothing. There is 0 aftercare provided, they tell you to call if you have any questions or concerns post surgery, but essentially ghosted me, leaving me with an additional $800 bill at another vet. I would recommend looking into other affordable options, and ensure aftercare is something that take more seriously than Kent!Edit:To answer your questions I did both! I left a vm on the main line and at the clinic so to try devalue my review by lying is even more worrisome to me, I called the main line by the number above, which you effective called me from multiple times. I tried all numbers and got more frantic as the time went on. This reply only furthers my concern for your business. If you actually care to fix this issue you can give me a call, my number is in your records and can be found on the many voicemails I left. It’s interesting that every bad review is responded to in a similar manner but devaluing the reviewer, and not taking their concerns seriously. If you are reading this review, steer clear. My pet is my first priority & I can say whole heartily she clearly was not Kent’s :(

Kent animal shelter has an issue fulfilling the Rabies Vaccination post payment. My Orange Tabby, Cray-Cray (rest in peace baby girl) was infected and passed away with the c.o.d. oddly being confirmed Rabies. Go to Patchogue Animal Shelter which is affordable, caring and transparently professional.

I had visited the shelter looking for a cat. I found a very pretty cat named Georgina who was friendly and we seemed to have bonded. I was told by the cattery woman to place an application online. I did and was told that I didn't qualify because I didn't have a cat in my home at the present; they judged me as though I had no experience with cats. I explained that my cat had passed away from old age. When I checked back a few days later, the woman at the cattery said Georgina had come back and was available for adoption, again. I applied for a second time and was turned down for the same reason mentioned above.I gave up trying to adopt a cat here!I did adopt a cat from another rescue in another town with no problems about the fact that I didn't have a cat at present. I explained to the other shelter that my previous cat had passed away and they were wonderfully compassionate and sympathized with my loss.I do not recommend Kent for adoption.I DO recommend using their clinic because they did a wonderful service for a female cat I needed to have neutered.

Don't go to this dump lady in office nasty rude place looks run down buildings are falling almost killed myself walking on big tree stumps and on top of that my family has given so much money to these people and donations all i see is new cars but nothing to buildings trash no more money for them for sure ooo ps and the dogs was so cold no heat the guy that there had 2 coats on and gloves so how you think those dogs felt I was right dogs are cold no heat but the owner is nice and warm at home just care about the money just look at Pam's passport France Italy Mexico expensive trips but the dogs suffer look at the new cars tesla bmw some one needs to check the books on this place because alot of money is going up in air and ps I got my facts straight before I wrote this

From talking on the telephone with Laurie, who returned my calls twice, all was great when we dropped off and picked up our fur baby! Everyone was so kind, professional and they truly care about these animals. I highly recommend Kent animal shelter! They took great care of our girl, sent her home with all the instructions for after surgery care on paper and discussed how to care for her best as she heals from her spay. We’ll clearly you didn’t investigate well enough, you are not professional, because when we went into the dog shelter there were 3 of your employees working in there that were very nice and they told us you had to be 21, all 3 of them, and obviously you guys aren’t professional enough since you don’t let your staff know the exact age to adopt a animal, and judy was not professional when we knocked on the door she opened the door and was rude to us from the start not knowing how old we are my cousin is actually 23, not 19, tell judy to start being more nice, cause we all could clearly tell how rude she was, even the other employees told us how they all hate Judy cause of how rude she is, so i guess im not the only one, and that’s a fact. Not a lie.

People working there were very friendly, answered all my questions & I had alot of questions...lol being a 1st time Cat owner regarding Pumpkin the Cat. Pumpkin was Neutered & got his Vaccines plus his Booster Shot & 3 months of Flea & Tick drops. The prices were very inexpensive considering everything I bought & had done to Pumpkin. I'm happy to know Kent is there for future visits. Thank you Kent! 😽

I brought my dog here a few weeks ago to get spayed and they did a phenomenal job. They had far better pricing compared to other places and had a far more reasonable availability then all the other places. If you're looking to get your dog spayed/neutered this is the place to go.

The owner Pam just fired Ricky who has worked in the kennels for over 10 years due to budget cuts!!! He has bent over backwards for her and the dogs!!!!! And she keeps people who have not been there for that long!!!! This is so wrong

I brought my kitten here to be neutered. It was a nice experience, simple and quick. The people there were very nice and helpful for a first time cat owner. Prices were also affordable. However I noticed that they had, without telling me anything about it, cut my cats nails. I would have had no problem with it whatsoever, knowing my cat is a little spicy. However, they cut his nails down WAY past the quick, to the point where several of his nails were bleeding :,< He is in pain still and wont stop licking his paws. @Clinic/vet techs, you must pay attention, and take necessary time, if you insist on a nail trim for every surgery patient, or you shouldn't cut our cats nails without telling us.

I was looking for a place to have my daughter's fur baby spayed, as we live in the city, there was no options. Everything was booked up and the pricing some vets wanted was too high. I found Kent through a goggle search and had an appointment schedule within a month. Upon arrival the staff was welcoming and insured us that our fur babu was in good hands. We dropped her off between 8-9 and she was returned to us by 3. She did so well and was back to eating by 6pm. Great service provided and thank you for taking such good care of my grand dog.
