Stopped by on the recommendation of a friend while I was visiting the PA/NY border.We visited for dinner and didn't have pizza, but they had some great looking pizzas a nice comfortable bar area, and a decent dining area.It was easy to get a table when I went, but I was warned that during the spring through fall months, you should make sure to get a reservation.

I was born and raised in Northern NJ. I grew up on amazing home cooked and restaurant Italian food from NJ and NYC. So I have very high standards for what good Italian food should taste like. Every Italian restaurant around upstate NY has deeply disappointed me, except for this restaurant. It's so nice to have found a local place with food that reminds me of home. Everything from here is amazing and high quality ingredients. The restaurant is beautiful, with a comfortable atmosphere. It is also spotless and very clean, the way all restaurants should be. Their chef Matt is a great guy and a great chef, who is always consistent and takes pride in his work. Which is very important in order to be great at anything, you must love and care about what you do and how you do it. A+++++

Honestly it hurts me to leave this review. We have been to this place many times. We drive for an hour to get here and it has always been worth it. Until today. We came for our anniversary. We brought our children with us. Everything was good except the cheesesteaks which were subpar to be generous. Each of our children ordered one. Two of our boys ate them despite them not being good. The third barely touched his. The cheesesteaks were not good. They were terrible. We ask them to take one of the cheesesteaks off the bill. They did not. I was surprised, after I asked, but they didn't take anything off the bill.We have been very satisfied in the past.This time we were disappointed to say the least. For them to serve cheesesteaks on soggy buns with meat that tasted Frozen, and then to refuse to take even one off the bill, one that had merely a bite or two taken out of it, which was then left on the table, not taken home in a to go box.Not to mention the fact that we waited for quite a while for them to decide whether or not they would take one cheesesteak off the bill, while they ultimately decided not to.I have worked in food service before. I was a waitress for years. It shocked me that they did nothing to alleviate our dissatisfaction. It takes a lot for me to complain in the first place.We will not be back.

I came here for the pizza bc I only love NY style pizza and I was not disappointed. Even if it was slightly salty, I still enjoyed the generous w mozzarella cheese, the thin thin crust, and the fluffy and light but chewy dough. The crust was probably the best crust I had in ages. Almost like a hybrid filó dough thin top layer and chewy core without much density. The waitress was very sweet, gave our dog fresh water in a clean washed bowl, let our dog sit with us on the outside table which had an umbrella for sun. The salad was huge and could be shared with 2-3 people. Calamari was done just right … light and crispy with lots of homemade marinara sauce. The surrounding area is beautiful in the Catskills with lakes and farms. The town is nice and friendly. The bathroom was nicely done, clean, and spacious.

Such a beautiful place! We made phone reservations about a half hour before, and we got seated right away! I ordered a blackberry lavender lemonade off the special drinks menu and it was delicious. They gave us bread immediately, and took our orders, me and my fiancé ordered penne alla vodka with grilled chicken and a Caesar salad. the dressing tasted homemade and was incredibly tasty, and the penne, oh the penne!!! the vodka sauce was so good we asked if they sold it by jar! they gave us such large plates, and i took home a whole second meal, my fiancé managed to eat most of his lol. All in All, i didn’t have a single bad experience or even mediocre bite in this place. Absolute perfection.

Love the charming town of Callicoon, NY! Love Peppino’s Restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating. Caution, large portions here! Veal chop dinner I got could feed 3 people! Great drinks (beer) reasonably priced. Bar area. Plenty of nearby street parking. Not cheap, but excellent food cost extra. Friendly and professional staff. A door opened and I noticed staff in the kitchen joking with each other, good vibes and food here! I will be back!

My family tried Peppinos and we were not disappointed. I had penne a la vodka! Delicious and super huge portion. My son had the stuffed pizza and my husband tried the margarita. Clearly we couldn't decide. The food was great. Brenda, our server, was wonderful. Best of all, we were able to sit with our pup out front. We will be back!

This is a place I always go to. I was extremely disappointed… Need more & better servers/help. Waited over 30 minutes before placing food order. Place was extremely crowded when our pizzas came the other table was so close that the young lady who was sitting at the next table was blocked in by our pizza trays and her long hair was inches away from our pizzas.Most importantly the waitress was horrible! Waitress did not have any concern to check the kitchen regarding if there was dairy in the meatballs after we told her of dairy allergy. We were served a side order of sautéed spinach which lacked oil and was microwaved and cost over $8.00. Our pizzas came within 15 minutes but the chicken florentine took over 1/2 hour to be served. It was only after asking where the food was did we get the dish. This was an extremely disappointing dinning experience.

This is a beautiful restaurant but unfortunately after the pandemic the food is so salty or the opposite, tasteless. I have to believed that they do not have the same chef or cook unfortunately. Please take this constructive criticism the right way. It is only meant to help. Your restaurant has been the favorite for everyone in town for many years but please hired a good chef or bring back the one you had before the pandemic.There is not need to fill the plates so much it looks gross and you are trowing the money out the window.

I have formally dined, casually dined, and ordered take out countless of times over the years at Peppino's. They always provide great meals. It's always a gourmet treat to go there. Joe and Lyndsey work very hard to provide this great place. They are also a major employer to the area keeping many people gainfully employed. I've had conversations with the head chef and can tell that the staff is very passionate about providing great food. The fried calamari, grilled octopus, grilled veal chop(The Big Chop), salads with chicken and jumbo shrimp, chicken marsala, and double shrimp w/garlic pizza are my favorites. The portions are huge and we always have another meal of leftovers the next day! Don't forget the deserts--they are fresh and delicious too. I've recommended many clients and customers to eat there over the years and have always had solid positive feedback from them. I rate this restaurant very highly and feel lucky that we have such a fine place in our little hamlet of Callicoon!

My favorite pizza in the area. Love coming over the border and enjoying this gem of a restaurant. The service has always been great coupled with a nice atmosphere. Not one complaint with any dish I have had so far. Love the pizza and garlic knots...the kids love this combination. There is a bar at this location also. Well worth a stop and will return in the future! Check this place out!!

Yum yum yum! Hubby & I go here from time to time. He gets the Milanese and I get the Shrimp Alfredo which is delicious. Staff are always friendly. We’ve had Melissa as our server a few times and Lindsay who is very nice as well since she remembers us every time we come in. Worth a visit for good Italian food. And pizza to go is very good as well.

We arrived in Callicoon for a three day vacation with no plans, no reservations, and no direction. We needed a quick, hot meal and the hotel suggested Peppino's. Wow. The homemade lasagna was AMAZING. We also had a couple small salads and the baked cheese tortellini. SO good. Mili was terrific and offered a few suggestions for a couple confused tourists and we were very appreciative. Thank you for the excellent meal!10/9/23 - Receipt #152233

Came here after a long day with my two daughters while traveling through the area. We had my daughters service dog with us. They asked for proof that he was a service dog (which is illegal per ADA law) and when we couldn’t provide it because we had been traveling all day they refused to allow us to sit inside. We tried to sit outside but it was very cold and my daughters couldn’t handle it. We waited at the outside table for 15 minutes(without anyone even taking a drink order) before we decided to leave. Will not be visiting this place again.

As usual, the restaurant is amazing. The staff are fantastic and so friendly. The food is delicious with very generous portions! Go hungry. The prices are decent for the amount of food you get. The atmosphere on the deck is the best on a warm summer night. Honestly it's a must visit if you're in Callicoon.***definitely the sweetest staff ever. The cheesecake is to die for!!
