What a charming place! We were lucky to find a table, as they were very busy. Really interesting and delicious selection of wines and tapas. Just one delightful server and the owner/chef, with whom we had a pleasant conversation as we were buying some bottles in the shop before we left. Embrace the quirky charm of the place and wait for a table, if necessary. If you enjoy good wine and inspired small plates, you will be rewarded for your patience.

One of the best restaurants in America, no hyperbole at all. The attention to detail, the thoughtfulness and intentionality, every single aspect of the meal is curated to your taste, and all in the least pretentious environment imaginable. My partner and I love the Wine Merchant. Their tapas, small plate, and dessert menus are incredible. It is a must go stop! I think it’s the best place to eat in Callicoon.

The cider this guy recommended me after driving 45 minutes away was absolutely the worst tasting cider I have ever tasted. Not only that, it was overly priced. It didn't seem like the guy wanted to be bothered either..which is why I'm giving this a one star. No worries, plenty of other wine shops around with better service.

Run. Don't walk to get here. Seriously amazing wine selection and small plates. Try a little bit of everything. The house made ricotta with local honey was an experience from the crostini that was perfection, the ricotta was both creamy light and satisfying, the drizzle of local honey and local sprouts on top just tied everything together. Also loved the rice balls with harissa and the mushrooms. The spiciness was perfect and addicting. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Nice spot to sit and drink a glass of bubbles and a snack if you feel like it. The bubbly is always a good choice. Nice outdoor seating mostly in dappled shade, ideal on a hot day.

I've been coming here for the past three years and this place have proven time and again, that it has the best food/wine menu and staff. I've visited other restaurants around the area and this place far surpasses them. The food is perfectly seasoned and they use fresh ingredients. The wine is always great and I end up grabbing a bottle to go. The atmosphere is laid back and I'm never made to feel rushed. Definitely worth the stop.

I’ve been to this establishment 4 times. I will start by saying, I liked the tapas and small plates and felt that the execution was high end and the food tasted good. I will also say that the wine selection was good, but not great. At a wine merchant/wine bar, I would expect more. I would expect a better selection and a more knowledgeable staff leading clients in what to order. This is not the case. Their young and inexperienced server staff isn’t equipped to guide the average client on what to order. In addition, they are frequently out of items on their menu, both food related and wine related, and their servers are stretched in terms of the number of patrons they need to serve. They will often ignore you for sometime until they can eventually get to you. In addition, and most importantly, I feel that the owners treat their clients differently depending on certain parameters. On the 4 different trips I’ve made here the one consistent experience has been that I’ve been treated in a lesser manner than other patrons. I’ve been discriminated against, plain and simple. Tonight my husband and I were there and very clearly served a half glass of wine each when all others around us were served double the amount! I brought this up to our server in a polite way and she reluctantly brought us a regular glass of wine. I don’t understand this and it’s happened on at least half the occasions we’ve been there. We are polite, well dressed people who treat our servers with respect and kindness. Why then are we being discriminated against?I can only assume that this establishment is run by a group of snobs who discriminate blatantly against anyone who isn’t in their inner local circle. I won’t go back. I’ve had enough. These owners are nasty and mean people and I decided I will spend my money elsewhere. There are many lovely establishments in Callicoon who deserve my patronage far more than this bunch of nasty snobs. Don’t go here.

The outdoor seating is great for socializing and with the tapas menu it's a fun place. The music isn't too loud which is perfect. Caution though, the food won't tell you if it's spicy on the menu, so if you have issues with that ask the staff before ordering. I wish they had a spicy logo for the food menu.

Amazing wine store with a tapas menu that is simply outstanding! Tremendous chef with some very creative plates. Great way to spend an afternoon and evening! Will certainly be back.

It is a really nice and quaint shop. there is also a bar and some tables outside with heat lamps. The wine shop looks kind of small but for someone like me who doesn't know that much about wine it is well curated because everything there is high quality. They also have a good selection of beer which is more my speed. My favorite part of the outdoor area was a giant rock that they turned into a stone table with stools around it. They also had string lights hung up giving a cool ambience when the sun goes down but beware it can be chilly even with the heat lamps.

We came on a slow day because of a recommendation from a local bartender in Jeffersonville, and had our choice of several metal tables in the gravel patio area. There were only two vegan options on the menu, and they were pretty tasty. But as the sun came out it became uncomfortably hot, and because there were no tables in the shade, we decided to move a table about 5 feet into the only shady area within the gravel patio. The owner ran out and literally chastised us for moving the furniture, immediately moving the table back to its original spot, "No! I can't have you moving the furniture!" I can understand if there's some kind of policy against moving tables (though any reasonable person would have done the same as us), but I just can't understand why the owner was so rude and condescending to new customers patronizing his restaurant. Naturally, we will not be returning or recommending, and it's unfortunate we gave this guy our business in the first place.

Such a nice little place. Perfect spot. Not just a wine merchant by any stretch. Delicious little plates of well conceived food are available and great wine and draft or bottled beer. Indoor and outdoor seating. Nothing like this around. Love it. Highly recommended.

One of the best places around, a real jewel. Truly excellent small plates and tapas paired with a carefully selected wine list. There is also a small wine shop with well priced wines for any occasion. Really a lovely spot.
