My boyfriend and I took a weekend trip to the fingerlakes region and the thing we were the most excited for was to go horseback riding! Painted bar stables came highly recommended. It was truly a magnificent and beautiful experience. The area is so stunning and the trail is easy for a beginner! The horses are friendly and well trained and the staff is super welcoming and skilled at what they do. Neither of us have ridden horses in so long and our instructor/guide really made us feel comfortable and safe. She was such a fun guide too! We will hopefully be coming back in the summer too since it was such a great experience! I would highly recommend visiting Painted Bar Stables and scheduling a ride if you’re in the area. They offer some classes as well if you want to do something more than just the hour long ride.

This is a wonderful place! It was easy to reserve a ride time and the price was very reasonable. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and encouraging in guiding us during the ride. Our guide, Alyssa, took great pictures to capture the experience and made us feel comfortable along the trail. Also, the scenery is beautiful!

This was my first time riding a horse and it was incredible! I can’t say enough about the staff and how great they were guiding and explaining things to a beginner. The horses were incredible and the scenery was gorgeous. I highly recommend a trail ride here, especially if you have never been before. The guide took great pictures as well!!

Definitely the best horseback riding experience I’ve ever had! Our guide was super sweet (I think her name was Sarah, but sadly don’t fully remember. She was from Germany!). She talked us through things before ever even getting on the horses, and ensured us that having fun is top priority. The ride was beautiful. We got to go to a creek and let the horses drink, go up and down some hills (even had the opportunity to go fast up one hill) and at the end we had the opportunity to trot. Both things I had never done before and trotting is something I’ve always wanted to do! Everything about our experience was top notch. I wish we would have done the longer ride (we only did an hour) but hope to have the opportunity to return in the future.

My boyfriend and I came here for our first ride to celebrate our anniversary. Alyssa was our guide and she was amazing. We loved our horses and the trail was super fun even though it was the “easy trail” We are immediately trying to book another ride before our mini vacation ends. Amazing trail ride through fields, woods and streams. We were able to trot and canter even with a new rider in our group. Erika was a great instructor and did so much to adjust to our schedule.

Husband and I booked a ride experience visiting town for a few days. Important to note that we’re both beginners since it’s my husband’s second time riding (first time was 3 years prior) and I rode 3-4 times before this. We just wanted something physical and fun to do outside. We were surprisingly impressed with how technical and fun the lessons were. From the beginning, we felt immediately that our safety was a priority with instructions on helmets and the DOs and Donts. The ride was fun and Alissa our instructor even split us off from the group for a little trotting time. Teddy my horse was such a well behaved and beautiful guy, and Alissa made sure we were comfortable before every turns and knew what to do before going downhill and up hill. Highly recommended!One note to point out was we went while they’re under construction, and had to turn around for the entrance right out front. Things may look a little messy but trust that they know what they’re doing with the lessons and the horses.

I brought a friend for her bday and we had a great time! Neither of us had a lot of experience on horses, but the staff gave thorough instructions and were very helpful. They paired us with really great horses that made us feel comfortable too.I would recommend this spot!

We have ridden with Painted Bar several times over the past few years. Erika and her staff have always been especially professional and accommodating while also making sure the trail rides are enjoyable for all riders. We have taken two children on their first trail rides, adults with varying levels of experience, and even my 90 year old father in law; Painted Bar was able to match everyone with an appropriate horse.I look forward to our visits to Painted Bar Stables every summer!

This was the highlight of our vacation! Erika saved the day for us as well. I made a mistake on the scheduled date. She was able to help us out and join a ride a day earlier. At the dinner table afterwards, we kept talking about how cool the trail was. You are not just walking on a road down and back. Going up and down hills and over creek beds we so cool. We did the 1.5 hour ride and it was beyond worth it. The trainers we very helpful with instructions. Got some great photos and would love to come back and do it again.

We took our 3 yr old granddaughter to the Christmas Eve pony ride, their first time doing this event and it was SO lovely. Unfortunately, the weather was bitter and deterred a good turnout. They set up a riding ring in the barn to be out of the wind, had seating for the adoring crowd, cookies and cocoa for afterwards, decorations and care to the setup that showed. Such lovely people!! Thank you. I hope you keep up this beautiful tradition!!

My sister and I had an amazing experience at Painted Bar Stables! Neither of us had ever ridden a horse before, so we signed up for the trail experience lesson. We started by brushing our horses and preparing their gear, which helped us feel comfortable with the horses before we started the riding lesson! We then spent some time in the training area before going on a short trail ride, and then took some pictures before heading back to the barn. We were paired with amazing horses who were patient with us and we never felt scared or uncomfortable. Our guide Alyssa was also very helpful and detailed in explaining how to ride, and my sister and I had an incredibly fun experience! I can’t wait to go back again!

Great place to take the family for a day time event. Kids had no experience in riding horses. Owner was very personable and helpful in explaining the basics. Trails were easy riding and in the woods which was nice on a hot afternoon sun. They offer different ride times and trails based on experience levels. Kids had a great time and was told we were.doing again. Definitely worth your time. Thanks again to the wonderful staff.

We had a blast on the 1.5 hr adventure ride and would highly recommend the experience. Our riding experience ranges from professional rider/ show jumper in Wellington, FL to full-on beginner (3rd time on a horse). The horses picked for us matched our abilities perfectly. We had opportunities to ride our horses a bit, not just a retired horse trail ride. Thanks for the wonderful morning ride, we will absolutely be back when we’re in the area. Only regret is not picking a longer ride!

Abby was a great guide. Very patient and knowledgeable. It was a great experience. I love that the group sizes are small and they go out with two instructors so you get personalized attention in improving your horseback riding skills. Customer service is great, they're busy so they don't really answer phone calls but are great with email. I can't wait to come back. You guys have definitely motivated me to take some lessons in cantering. Also the pre-ride info session was funny, informative and they've really got their metaphors down. I highly recommend making this a must try experience while I'm the finger lakes.

My husband booked us a trail ride for my birthday and it couldn’t have been more wonderful. We had Chicken Nugget and Captain as our horses and they were great! Erica and Taylor were our tour guides and they were very informative and kept us entertained and safe during our ride. Would 100% recommend this to anyone visiting Senaca lake. We will be back next year!

Made a reservation for my sisters birthday for the scenic trail ride and it was beyond words.Erika did such a beautiful job coaching us and the 2 beginners of our group were much more confident in their riding abilities.I definitely recommend coming here and getting a ride. A great family friendly place to learn how to horseback ride and go for trail rides. I took weekly lessons with Ryan over the summer and went from barely knowing how to ride to going for an all day group ride by the end of the summer thanks to great instruction, amazing horses, and thoughtful planning. They have also been handling Covid very seriously and ensuring that all saddles and reins are wiped before every ride. Will be back next time I'm in the area!

This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever done! I was very scared and anxious to ride a horse and Everyone was so nice and helpful. The farm is BEAUTIFUL and so peaceful. They matched us perfectly to our horses snd made us feel so comfortable. They helped us get amazing pictures of us on the horses. If you do 1 thing in the finger lakes this is it. Worth the money and more!!

A fully worthwhile experience! Erica was an outstanding guide, very thorough and knowledgeable about more than just horses! We had no riding experience whatsoever. Her quick training was incredibly detailed and well explained. She made the trail ride pleasant, even humorous. We were well matched with our horses without ever meeting, thanks to her request form. We went there with two preteen daughters who never rode a horse but we had such a great time. The trail was interesting to both horse and rider. It included some interesting features like crossing a creek, open field for trotting if you feel comfortable with that and meandering through wooded areas.In other places there is usually two guides per trip but they had one in the front, middle and the rear. Very through in their orientation especially for beginners. We would definitely do it again whenever we are in the Lake Seneca wine trail area.

Amazing experience! I had ridden a few times before and this was myHusband’s first time riding. They matches us each with horses that matched our experience, height/size, and abilities. We had Alyssa and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. She even went above and beyond and allowed us to pet a mama and baby horse. Very great! Horseback riding at Painted Bar Stables was the highlight of our trip to the fingerlakes. Katherine was an amazing guide throughout our ride -- she was very pleasant, informative, funny, and personable. She really took the time to ensure that we had a wonderful experience on the trail and she prepared us in the skills needed to successfully guide our horses. I was lucky to have such a sweet boy named Thor for my experience! We would love to come back again in the future!

Safety is clearly first at this stable. The staff are very knowledgeable and spend a lot of time getting trail riders familiar with the horses and rules, which makes for a much better experience for everyone. They were able to accommodate our large group which included an experienced rider, a first-time rider, and every skill-level in between, and we all had a great time. Beautiful trail, healthy horses, clean well-kept tack and helmets, clean stables.

Whether you're an experienced trail rider or a total beginner like I was, Erika and her crew at Painted Bar will take amazing care of you. I was a bit nervous for my ride, especially since it was a pretty big group but Erika put me at ease. Her charm and anecdotes will have you in high spirits no matter how nervous you are! Also, her property is absolutely gorgeous... but not as gorgeous as her horses! They all have so much personality and it's incredible to see Erika pair you up with the perfect horse for you. It really blew me away. Maybe it was because she automatically new that Duchess and I were a little too similar? Haha! I can't thank Erika enough for such a memorable time - I seriously couldn't have picked a better stable to go to for my first time on a horse.
