Gorgeous, delicious, and amazing.I can only say good things about Catharine Valley Winery. I came by with a group of 30 of my grad school friends to celebrate a birthday (please make a reservation if you have a big group, they don't usually have so many people there) and we all had so much fun. Since we had so many people, we bought a wide variety of bottles of wine and were able to sample and share them among our group. They were all so delicious. Not only is the wine amazing, but the view is to breathtaking. There is a perfect view of Seneca Lake a few miles north of Watkins Glen and the way the sun glints off the water and the cool breeze that comes off the lake creates a very peaceful ambiance.I will definitely be back soon.

This was our first stop on our wine trail tour. We had a very nice experience here. The wine was good, the server was friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and the area, the inside of the building was cute, the outside had great views of the lake. They are doing some renovating so they are obviously investing in the place. We will definitely come here again the next time we visit.

Catherine Valley was a good stop for us. It didn't stand out like some others for us. The view is one of its better features. This winery has been around for some time and is starting to show it's age a bit. Generally nice, but some improvements would enhance the experience (i.e.: great stuff plugging holes etc.).

The worst winery in Ithaca. Just a bunch of underage college students. The manager does not provide indoor bathrooms, and they even ran out of some of the wines. For over 400 people they had 4 tiny, dirty, outdoor bathrooms.

Had a wonderful time at this winery- it was laidback but fun all the same. It was great to taste the different wines while enjoying the view!

Stopped here on our recent vacation. The wines were wonderful, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and the scenery and “house dog” were beautiful. I wish we could buy the wines online! They were THAT good!

This winery is more of a college bar. They book hundreds of college kids at one time, and then yell at everyone to get out when it’s packed. 0 customer service. When you PAY to reserve a time slot, you should be treated as a valued customer.

Dog friendly place. Even had my pup off leash. They have two very friendly German shorthair pointers. When I asked the owner if he minded me walking My dog through the vineyard his exact response was "enjoy life". People were very friendly. Wine was ok, very sweet and not too complex. Boxer Cider is our favorite pick.

We called ahead and we appreciated the willingness to accommodate us. Friendly staff! And the view is wonderful! Thank you Catharine Valley Winery!- from the family in the white van who parked next to the F350!

Strange encounter. Went there today and was told they think they were closed for a private event (not even sure this man was an employee) and told us to back out the same way we came in. Also we love dogs and actually had our two with us since we read it was dog friendly here, but a GSP jumped right up on my car and left scratch marks. Do not recommend.

First time at this venue. This is one of, if not THE most accommodating and friendly places in the finger lakes area. The view of the lake is perfect, the wines and ciders are delicious, and the girl serving us could not have been more pleasant. We will be back!

My wife and friends of mine were just at the winery during the chocolate and wine weekend on Sat. 2/9/19. I have to say that Don, one of the owners is an awesome guy! The staff was super friendly, and you could tell they are proud owners of this great winery! I was fortunate enough to meet their German Short Haired Pointer Reme! He was super friendly and well behaved! What a treat for them to welcome us to their home!!! Thanks again for the great hospitality and fellowship!

Fantastic winery. My husband and I were just here over the weekend, walked in and were greeted by the owners even though they were close to closing (we found out after chatting that most wineries close around 5pm)We were the only ones there and had the opportunity to learn a lot! They were cordial and spoke to us about how they landed there. We loved it so much that we left a sticky note with our information to buy the winery when they retire (after a few glasses 😂) but the experience could not have been better. And the view - wow! Seriously cannot wait to go back for another visit!!

Amazing! Absolutely my favorite winery to go to. The owner is funny and personable and their wine makes the visit all the more better. Would highly recommend.

This location would of got 5 stars but for the total ignorance of one of the waitresses. She didn't wear a name badge as I would of named her. However she was the only lady in a pink t-shirt. Never in our lifetime visiting a restaurant have we had experienced this. Started well with her taking our order then when she served our food she put the plates as far away from us as she could....... I'm not lazy but usually I get my food placed in front of me. Wasn't sure if she was going to add something more we waited awhile. Nothing happened she just walked off. Put us of our food which was not that great.Anyway the wine tasting was very good and the kind lady was helpful an friendly.Hope the server/waitress gets some training on how to give the customers food correctly.

I went here with a small group- just myself, my sister and her husband. So no- we were not a big group of annoying, young drunk people. The price was $5 per tasting, which is as high as it gets in the area. I would be fine with the tasting price if the wine was actually of good quality. However, it was really bad! We knew as soon as we looked at the list of wines that we were in trouble. No standard 'Merlot' or 'Cabernet', all silly names for the wine. Even despite the crappy wine, we could have come out with a positive experience had the staff been fun. However, the girl who waited on us was miserable and barely spoke two words to us. She was blatantly hostile to us and clearly poured huge tastes for the other patrons, while giving us the tiniest tastes possible. Fine- because we really didn't want any more of the crappy wine; but offensive to be treated differently for no reason! Would never go back here! Don't waste your time or money!

I went here as part of a group. After we got out of the bus, the proprietor marched toward us screaming and ordering us to “go back to your transportation.” He then boarded the bus to enumerate the “rules” of the vineyard, which were also posted conspicuously by the bar. He loves his rules. A lot. Other weirdnesses: he subsequently insisted that our group must leave his property by 5:00 sharp. We were promised a food truck, but instead we were provided with Doritos and crackers. I don’t know whether our organizers were charged the infamous surprise “cleanup fee” (I’m betting yes on the basis of other reviews), but it is worth pointing out that there was only one wastebasket that I could locate on the premises. It is astounding this place is still in business. One star for next level rudeness.

Okay experience; staff is very hands off and relaxed. The wine is pretty good. Unfortunately I left my jacket and car keys there and I've tried calling these people a more than dozen times over 2 days, I left voicemails, and no one ever called me back letalone picked up the phone a single time. What kind of establishment is this?? I'm not even sure how we scheduled a wine tour if they never pick up the phone...

We had a wonderful time. The owner and employees are great people and actually took the time to talk to us about the wine making process. loved the wine and the hard cidar was some of the best I've tasted. If you are looking for a down to earth experience, this is the place to be.

The view is amazing! The wines were ok. The ones I really wanted to try they didn't have in stock. Also they didn't talk about or describe their wines, just pour a tasting and walked away played with their dog and came back to pour the next wine. No customer service for a winery on the wine trail was very disappointed.

This place is a GEM! The Wine and Cider is incredible, the highest quality, as were the people we encountered. We were treated so warmly, and the decor was interesting and comfortable. This place is now on the short list of locations I visit every time I visit Seneca lake.

Really???Charged our group a deposit for "not cleaning" and "not going to them to check out" when neither of these things were told to us when the employee got on our bus and told us the rules. We also literally didn't make any mess so they just charged us for something they never told us to do.Wine also tasted like trash and there was mud all over the property that literally everyone fell in. And why does the owners dog go around eating people's food(not offered to dog)

Beautiful serene little family owned winery with patio and incredible view of lake! Nice wines & friendly couple. Opens at noon not 10am as website states. Glad we stopped in.

I read these reviews and it seems like a completely different winery. Not friendly. Not welcoming. Asked about the history and the owner couldn't be bothered to give us any story. Owner was a lady. We left. Super awkward.

Awesome laid back atmosphere. The owners and staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. They also have a great selection of wine and ciders that will accommodate everyone!
