LOVE the Co-op! Reached out as I have a friend who wants to quit smoking. We know that Licorice Root works for her. But we wanted the actual root, not a supplement. Ding, ding! Everywhere else we called was a supplement. I know I can always count on the Co-op!! Matter of fact, I need to get over there for my favourite sandwich - the turkey with crayonnaise!! On that AMAZING bread.

This store used to be an amazing store until about a year ago. According to somebody I had talked to, the Hertel location has switched managers. The previous manager was named Tom. He did an outstanding job. The store was neat and well stocked. I have never interacted with Tom, but I never had an issue. When Nick took over that is when I started having multiple issues. A lot of the pre-made foods were no longer available and the few that were available are FREQUENTLY past "sell by" dates. I also noticed a big turn-over with most of the cashiers. I no longer see the staff I was used to seeing. The whole environment has changed. This used to be a great store, it really sucks it has changed. I left the picture up from my original review of exposed fluorescent bulbs above open produce (another issue Nick had created). Not sure if this has been fixed but be careful because the lighting should be covered or removed if over open foods. Otherwise mercury and broken glass can contaminate open produce below it. Hopefully this locations sees better days ahead. I would love to be a member again one day.

This is by far one of my favorite places to shop! Tons of local produce and best prices over any grocery store! The bulk section is great for getting those spices and such that you use less frequently. And they have a great section of prepared foods if you get hungry. Grab your food, have a seat, and enjoy. The proximity to everything in North Buffalo is awesome. Great location! And the staff is always super helpful.

Awesome co-op! Ton of vegan goodies in the prepared section, all marked with a clear V for vegan, and all ingredients clearly marked in everything. several vegan wraps (buffalo tofu, peanut tofu), a tempeh BLT, several vegan dips, VEGAN MAC N CHEESE, vegan noodle bowls, and amazing vegan desserts including a chocolate mousse, cupcakes, cookies, and so much more. Prepared foods aren't cheap but then again they rarely are no matter where you go.Tons of vegan items in the main grocery section as well, a giant section for non dairy flavors, a whole section of the fridge with vegan goodies (Miyoko's cheese, butter, Beyond, local tempeh/tofu, etc.etc).Love the Lexington Co-ops so much!

I love the coop. Super convenient and solid choices on the hot bar. This also might be a very specific to me type comment —but they are also one of the few places that sells chicken feet for when when I make stock.

Stopped here to charge my Tesla about an hour before they closed. Since it's not a fast charger plus its my first time visiting the store and I am visiting the area from out of town, I planned to stock up on basics and took my time while shopping. Quickly noticed the Black female security guard coming out to watch my every move. Literally followed me in every asile and section. Even stood near the impulse items while I cashed out. I would have purchased more items and I was originally excited to see a Co-Op grocery store in the area because as a long time vegan who lives in the DC area (where there are co-ops everywhere) but originally from Niagara County, this felt "big." These are "my" people making space in areas that I didn't grow up regularly seeing. Normally they are the best and most friendly shopping experiences you can have. This one felt hostile and horribly racist. So I guess this co-op is for white folks only. All others need not enter as it's not for you as they will send their guard to openly watch your every move with no shame. 100% do not recommend supporting this business or their EV charger. Go to Wegmans, Trader Joe's, or Whole Foods instead. On top of everything, they don't even have a lot of fresh goods and prepared foods that you typically find in a coop. Most of it looked old, stale, and tired. I would have taken pictures but too tired after spending the day with my mom in the hospital, them driving around searching for a decent charger I felt comfortable using in unfamiliar places in the dark. Didn't have energy for a conflict and just wanted my stuff, then to go to where I was staying. This place was all around disappointing TRASHHHHHHH except I will add the cashier and stocker (2 young white guys) were friendly, helpful, and pleasant. They earned them the one star.

I don't understand why anyone shops here. The place is severely overpriced -- for most of what they sell, you can buy comparable products for 10-20% less at other local stores, and the schtick about "owner" control is little more than marketing hype.The managers and board members are clueless about the politics of food. As a result, the shelves are stocked with products sold by subsidiaries of giant multinationals like Nestle, General Foods, and Coca-Cola -- the corporations that spend millions to lobby in favor of weak standards for organic foods and against the labelling of GMOs. (For instance, they sell bottled water from Nestles, a corporation whose president famously declared that humans have no right to water.)The coop will tell you otherwise, but in truth they've strayed far from their values. It's become the sort of place that caters to privileged folks who want to *believe* they're making a difference without doing the homework needed to make a genuine difference.

I frequently shop at both the Elmwood and Hertel stores. Both have an excellent selection of healthy bulk food and local produce. The employees are always upbeat, helpful and friendly. In November, I ordered vegan Thanksgiving dinners from the co-op. They were so delicious. The stuffed peppers, six side dishes and apple pie were beautifully packaged and easy to reheat. What a treat that was! I love the co-op;. It is such an asset to my neighborhood!!! We make frequent trips there!

I'll be honest, I only go here for the bulk coffee. I love to get the Mexicana coffee beans. I use a French press and makes a wonderful cup.The store is very clean and the staff is friendly.

Especially good assortment of organic, vegetarian, and vegan products, good produce, and excellent bread (Bread Hive and 5 Points). The selection is rounded out with all the usual supermarket products. Lots of locally-sourced meat and produce in season. Good prepared salad bowls and other ready-to-eat meal courses.

I love having another co-op location! So convenient for small grocery runs or picking up a quick HEALTHY meal from the hot bar when I'm in a rush. And look at that bulk section! 😍

I love their variety of different local fruits. The other day I got Italian plums. They were so sweet.Also, the prices for drinks such as kambucha and Kiefer I noticed that they are cheaper than some other places.

Wonderful place to shop and support a local business. The buffalo chicken tofu wrap is great, and if you are a SNAP recipient, your dollars go much farther when it comes to fresh produce! The staff is always friendly and helpful as well!

High quality, healthy foods. Extremely happy with everything I got there. I go on a regular basis now. You don't have to be a member to shop there and they accept wellness cards as payment. They also have some specific specialty items like heirloom tomatoes.

The store is clean, ambient, and aisles were clutter-free. Staff were polite, made eye contact, and they completed my checkout quickly.I read reviews and examined posted images of the store before shopping - specifically images of the produce and bulk sections. This was my first visit to the Lexington Co-op in about five years and my first trip to the Hertel location.Customer service was excellent as they readily located my former membership account.I cannot give five stars at this time. I brought reusable glass containers and walked to the store intending to purchase bulk items. All three of the items on my list, which should have been available loose, were prepackaged and in plastic containers.I asked a cashier questions regarding the items and they did not know the answers. My shopping trip meant choosing one alternative and two prepackaged items in quantities unfit for my household and my budget. Due to the distance, I had no time to shop elsewhere.What was meant to be a healthy (3 mile walk), ecological (no plastic), and sustainable (shop local) trip was disappointing.

Absolutely loved this place. Stopped in with my cousin from out of state that is vegan, she had so many choices of prepared food and baked goods. The hot sandwiches were delicious!! Vegan banana bread was amazing! I will definitely drive the 20-30min back to the market for the Turkey, apple and brie sandwich 👍👍

One of my favorite places to shop. Their produce is superior to Wegmans in flavor. I love the bake goods flowers and cards. And the staff couldn't be nicer. The parking at the Hertel store is a breeze and the aisles are wide and not too crowded. ❤️❤️

Some say it's a expensive bougie store. Well it's not cheap by any means. But I love how I can walk through the store and not fight with space down the aisles. I can't forget to mention how peaceful it is to shop and not see rowdy untrained kids running around causing a scene. We all have seen those types of kids at Walmart and Tops. Lol Plus the best chips in the world are at this store. Boulder canyon chips rule
