Got two of my rats from here. Sadly they were both just awful in behavior and clearly not handled at all, but that's what you get from a store so my other babies are from breeders. Otherwise they carry a ton of toys and feed I buy regularly. Like other reviewers said, the pet care at this location needs to change. Prices are horrendously high and that means pets stay here for long in the small enclosures they give them. There are signs asking for pet toy donations... like Countrymax isn't a chain that could simply afford those. The cashiers never ask for my phone number on my orders, so I am a bit confused what the point was for me to sign up for the rewards.

Animals are neglected, half of them are half dead, and have health conditions that aren’t expressed. If you get an animal here expect it to have some crazy disease they don’t tell you about that’s gonna cost you an extra $500 to fix.

My 12 yr old bought $140 dollars (of her OWN money) worth of fish stuff and fish. The glow tank, rocks, plants, food, filter replacements and 3 fish... bought it all the the same time. No one spoke up on the side of country max and told her she should set her tank up in advance and run it ect... let her spend the money and get her heart invested just for the 3 fish to die. She went to exchange them and they told her they wouldn't replace them because she didn't run the tank filter long enough b4 putting fish in. THEN WHY DID YOU SELL HEE THEM AT THE SAME TIME!!?? She literally was so cute and I love with them. You guys suck.So you made $140 off a little girl, give her no guidance and won't even replace 3 basic fish. Steller.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM!! I bought a blue tongue Skink and was told it was captive bred, which Indonesian skinks are always wild caught. When I got home with skink noticed a bunch of small dots in the picture, only to figure out he was infested with Reptile mites. Not only will these spread to my other reptile, I paid $220 for a overpriced skink infested in reptile mites, disgusting never coming back after this straight up animal abuse. Also the day I went to get the skink the room was extremely hot and multiple reptiles were panting it was so hot and were digging on the tank trying to get out, a couple didn’t even have water. This place is disgusting -5/5

I've trusted the twice now to help me pick out some good fish to put in a tank together and all of the new fish I keep getting end up dieing I don't know if something is wrong with the fish or its something I'm doing because I set up my fish tank exactly how they told me to. I was also hesitant about buying a fish because right next to the shark tank there were these small gold fish looking ones and all about 20 of them were dead floating at the top, we went to tell the lady grabing the fish for me and she acted like it was no big deal, just a whole fishtank of dead fish. I am not satisfied with how the people that work and obviously ther knowledge of putting togather fishtanks. I will not be buying anymore fish from here again, and there prices are really high for decoration just look on Amazon its half the price

Stopped for dog food, had a couple of questions about my fish tank and the guy working was outstanding. Full of great advice, sold me a couple of product and actually talked me out of the bigger, more expensive filters due to my tank size. Was very knowledgeable, polite and took the time to explain to me why some things were better than others based on what I have. Very impressed.

Love this place!! I just recently got into raising reptiles and fish and didn't really know where to start.. The employees at this location have always helped me to make sure my pets are properly taken care of and happy!! And even after just a couple times shopping here the girls know exactly what I need and are always quick to take care of me!! And because of their amazing staff they've earned a loyal customer for anything my pets ever need!!

Clean store, very special and genuine staff who treat you very well. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. Large selection of pet products. Huge dog food selection. Prices are good.It's nice to save a few dollars shopping online but spending a couple extra $ to support our local biz is worth it. If we don't support these shops, they won't be around long. They employ our friends and neighbors. This store is very deserving of a try!

Absolutely abhorrent animal care. A zebra finch was dying in the corner with clearly labored breathing. It's impossible that no one would have noticed. This is a company wide issue as I have witnessed this multiple times at this location as well as in Batavia. Do not give Countrymax your patronage.

Staff very friendly and helpful. One calls me by name, as been coming here for many years. She remembers that I need birdseed in a bag so easier to get out of my car. Staff always carry my purchases to car and watch out for me as walk with a cane. Makes me feel good.

The employees at this location are knowledgeable and helpful in each department. If the employee doesn't work in that area, they find someone quickly to help answer questions or address your concern. I consistently have a friendly and positive experience when I stop here for pet supplies, garden supplies, wild bird seed mix, or fill my propane tanks.

I trusted this store to have bird feeders that are easy to use and to clean! I just purchased a Perky Pet feeder for $35 which has no instructions on how to open to put seed in and in fact having read the on line reviews it cannot be dismantled to be cleaned. Very disappointed and I'm bringing it back tomorrow.

It was wonderful. My companion went in store for me as I am handicapped. One of fhe clerks came out to car to show me what store had in way of dog bark collars. She went out of her way to help me. She checked with someone who would know about the product to help me make a decision as to which one to buy. It was wonderful to know there are nice people who help the handicapped in a store.

Dog friendly store. The staff was able to answer my questions and suggest products without being pushy. They seemed to have a good knowledge of the products being sold and where they were located inside the store. Large selections available. I thought I was going to have to make two stops but was happy to be able to find everything I needed here. Decent prices also. I will be back.

Went in this store for dog food which was on a pallet in the back. Was told there's no way it would be on the floor today. This happens ALOT. I've started using chewy.com for all my pet supplies because everytime I go here they never have what I need available. The manager said sorry but never offered to call a different store to see if it was available or give me a time frame to come back. Awful customer service. Associates all standing around doing nothing but talking while there's a line at the register. All done with this place. CHEWY.COM

Great and affordable dog wash. Don’t charge you per pound like some sort of butcher shop. Flat rate of $10 and $2 more for towel if needed. Great service. Friendly folks.

Every time I have gone to this store in particular, everybody has been so friendly and helpful! I bring my ferrets in to walk around, and i get nothing but smiling faces every time! Love this place and will continue to shop here despite the longer drive from home!

This is a decent pet supply store, but be warned--I will never buy feeders here again. I usually buy from a guy in Greece but I have bought them here when I was short on time. I came in once and bought a frozen small rat, they charged me almost 5 bucks for it, which is the going rate at pet stores. After taking it out of the package I realized it had blood around its nose and smelled...off. I realize that dead rats can't be expected to smell like daisies, but this was nasty. Recently I went against my better judgement and came in again to buy a feeder rat. I asked the dude for a small rat and, first of all, he came back and already had it in a box and had me pay for it, I brought it home and opened it and knew immediately that it was not a small rat. It was at least a medium, and too huge for my snake to eat. I opened the package to throw the thing out and the smell of urine hit me so hard I almost puked. I don't want to feed my pets something that smells like pee! That's gross, and this is the only place I've bought from where the smell has been this bad. If their feeder rats are being treated this poorly, imagine how they treat their live animals that they sell as pets.

A good store with nice, unusual gift items. Can be a little pricey, buy they have things you can't get elsewhere. I love their popcorn and pickled watermelon rinds. They have pet and livestock supplies and feed plus a large gardening cen y er.

We go for the self serve dog wash. We have been to Pet Saver in Pittsford which does offer some little extras but who wants to drive out there. This is a great place. There are only 2 washtubs so you may have to wait. They have 2 types of shampoos that are provided. You either need to bring towels or can buy a sham-wow for 2.00 that you keep. Has a great sprayer and can dry your dog too. They have one apron to try to stay dry. Overall we love it and go regularly.

The girl I spoke to couldn't have been more helpful. I asked her where I would find a product & she walked me over to show me 3 choices & even told she had used 1 of them & found it worked well. The selection of items were great & the store has a fun decor.

Carry all brands of dog and cat food. The small pets they sell are taken great care of and their cages are always very clean every time I have ever been there. Great dogwash!

I visited the store to get advice about fish and how to keep them. I asked a woman with a buzz cut and gages in her ears a few questions and she proceeded to answer me rudely with little knowledge. I had to pry to get answers out of her. She was cold and condescending. I will not be purchasing any more supplies from this store.

The whole staff at CountryMax in Brockport go above and beyond to satisfy their customers need's. They were out of a bag of cat food that I desperately needed, instead of telling me sorry we can't help you, they called the Spencerport store and reserved the last bag they had so I could go get it. Shocked that a Pet Supply store could have this awesome of customer service. Thank you.

Came here to get cat food for a very skinny kitty, left with the best food I could imagine him eating. The staff helped me pick out the best food and my new old man had already gained half a pound and is acting like a kitten. Thank you countrymax!!!

If i could give them negitive 5 stars i would. This review is about-pet rats-frozen feeder rats for snakes-----------I bought two Dumbo pet rats there within the same week. They both have a life threating upper respitory infection. Did you know they only garentee your pets life for five days? How can you even analyze if your pet is 100% healthy in 5 days? URI is a highly contagious illness. Meaning all the dumbos they have are probably now infected, along with possibly any other animals in that room. I called them (still within the 5 day garentee for one of them) and i was talked to by what sounded like a teenage girl who couldnt care less about my animals or the ones still in her care. All she cared about was if i was still within the 5 days and if i wanted my money back. And the tone she used was majorly offensiveIf you want to get a new pet, i would highly sudgest going to a breeder or adopting. It may be more money to buy them, but you will end up saving 100s in vet bills and or dissapointment. Shouldve known when i saw 3 dead baby feeder rats just laying in another cage on the floor that this place was carless.Also i used to buy frozen feeder rats and mice for my snakes , when i thaw them it looks like they bash there heads in. Usually they will have arms or tails almost broke off. Blood would be coming out of there noses. Looks like they wack them on a table a few times then toss em in the freezer. It is grotesque. Think about how horibly they treat there animals before going.
