I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. The vet I usually take my vet to was over booked yesterday and I had already drove all the way down to Binghamton so I last minute decided to go here. BIG MISTAKE. My 4 year old cats canine teeth were turning black and had a concerning large lump growing on his chest. We saw Dr. Gaylord. She looked at the lump and just shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know." No insight on it what so ever. I asked her if she has ever seen anything comparable to it. She said nope. She was rude about it. She looked at his teeth, she said it just was the way his enamel formed. No concern at all. My cat was also due for his rabies vaccine update. I had his previous paperwork saying his was due for the 3 year. They charged me $54 (after telling me it was $35 on the phone) for a 1 year! They are very expensive. I paid $126 for her to tell me "I don't know."

Dr. Callan saw my two old rats this week and I couldn’t be happier with the care they received. She is very knowledgeable about exotics, and gave them both a thorough exam to make sure everything was in working order (and was also extremely patient in light of them being terrified of new people.) One of my boys needed a tooth trim due to being on a soft diet, she handled him very gently and did a great job cutting them back to relieve any discomfort he was feeling. She was very accommodating and allowed him to go back for the procedure with his brother's blanket for comfort. For my other boy’s issue, she answered any questions I had and explained all potential treatment options with me to help me make an informed choice. Also was met with the very nice young lady at the front desk, who was helpful with updating my billing info. Dr. Callan is an amazing addition to Chenango Animal Hospital, and I’m so happy we were seen by her. If you're looking for a gentle and kind vet that treats your animals with the utmost respect, she's definitely the one!

My 16# rescue was difficult to manage when I first started here. Few years later he is much better. The technicians Danielle and Jen and others are wonderful with him. Lisa at the desk is also wonderful. My new vet, Dr Walley is kind and patient and was able to do exam which was not the case our first visit. It has been an overall positive experience

Stay far away from this Hospital as you possibly can. After my dog received a nasty injury they refused any and all treatment and refused to even take my phone call. Twice I was hung up on trying to obtain help for my dog. When I asked why I was hung up on I was told for speaking loudly and that was due to the fact that I had a crying screaming dog oon my living room floor. At my worst time with an animal I was never more humiliated by this staff treated so poorly, and made to feel like a fool for asking for help. This is disgusting and a true example of how the new veterinary medicine world is now working. The animals do not matter any longer. It's about a dollar value and nothing more because if this animals well-being was truly what was important my dog would not have been left out to suffer in pain. A truly deplorable facility for what they did. The staff was quite informative in letting me know that it's the doctors protocol to treat clients and patience as such. I have both conversations recorded and unfortunately the length of the video will not upload to this review because if it did you would all see the treatment that I received at the hands of the staff. Bring your animals somewhere else that cares. This hospital is not worth your animals suffering.

I have had the best experiences here. They are always professional and genuinely care about the animals. Dr. Gaylord always takes time to explain things in terms that are easy to understand. I would highly recommend this practice.

Took my cat in for vaccines. 2 days later cat is not well. Called to speak to a doctor and the girl at the desk shouldn't be answering phones or even be there. She said she would leave her a note on the Dr desk. I told her i would like a call back tonight. She didn't seem to understand that my cat was having a reaction to a vaccine and it could be serious . Didn't understand the severity of it at all. She should not be answering phones. Office is poorly run in my opinion

Chenango Animal Hospital is where I bring both of my dogs and they always take great care of me and my dogs. Dr. Gaylord answers all of my questions and remembers everything about my dogs. Everything is done easily and I don’t have to worry about getting an appointment when I need one. Thank you Dr. Gaylord!!!

Long wait times here to check in and out for my mom's dog. But very well taken care of. You have to wait for them to call you back as well as they don't answer the phone. But efficient website to order pet supplies.

Call this number and listen to the voicemail message, it's strange, and very rude. After 12 years of taking our pets here, my husband and I were greatly offended after hearing it. I even had others call the number to listen the voicemail because it sounded so strange and off putting. I guess they are too busy and do not want anyone's business. My husband and I wanted to alert others. It's a shame because we took our pets there for years. The office even gave us a beautiful box for our beloved dog's ashes. Last year we had to put him down due to cancer. Since the voicemail, and not being able to get a hold of someone, my husband and I will be taking our business to another Vet. If you care about your pet, choose someone that cares, leaves a polite message, or can actually answer a phone.

First of all way way way too expensive. They want to run numerous unnecessary tests. Why you may ask? Money of course. Increase the customers bill. Vet, whom i will not name, askes questions about the animal, then does not listen to my response and cuts me off. Not friendly, not caring, sporting a superior attitude. Then the animal is removed from the exam room without me the owner, so they can draw blood. Did they even draw the blood? Have had blood drawn from my animals numerous times by other vets. I was always in the room with my animal when blood was drawn. At check out i was asked how i was going to pay for the services. Response credit card. Only found out the cost for services when i reviewed the receipt. And of course they want me to repeat this process every 6 months. Obviously i will never take any of my animals to this vet office again. In the mean time have found a vet office who can provide care and medication for my animal at a reasonable price. Look around my friends. Two thumbs and 4 paws down for this office.AND TO MAKE THIS SITUATION WORSE...The animal just had diarrhea all over my hard floors, rugs, and is not acting like herself. Just looked up the side effects of the overly expensive med given by the vet, DIARRHEA. The animal has only had i dose of the medication and will not be given more. This vet and office does not even deserve 1 star. ZERO would be more appropriate and truthful.

Where do I begin...seem to have very poor communication between staff and the patients. Given wrong meds, no discussion or explanation from vet. Very briefly stopped in, did not spend time and discusswith me. After I paid and was given the wrong medication for my dog we were to wait for a long time with lack of communication about when we would get the right meds and could leave. Didn't get done what we came in to have done. Was then called back, and they obviously had not put in notes or previous records in chart.

Would give zero stars if I could. They didn't know how to spay my dog Willow correctly. I strongly advise you DO NOT GO HERE. I steongly reccomend Speak Animal Hospital located at 351 Flint Road in Binghamton. The Speak staff were kind and knew how to spay a female dog. Do not go to Chenango Animal Hospital. Caveat emptor!!!

The vet was more old school direct kinda rude if you are overly sensitive which fortunately I am not. So I was okay with her. Unfortunately I was not informed they have not changed there covid rules of only one person in a room. The vet reminded me only one person which I was not told on the phone due to being a new patient. If I was informed I would of gone to a different vet. That allowed family to help with medical reasons. So I have my 14 year old with me and 3 year old with me due to just having surgery on my back weight limit is 10 lbs my dog is 86 pounds. She still made it clear after my explanation that only 1 person. My kids still stayed in the room. So if you have endless amounts of family or daycare to watch your children this is the place for you. If you have a family and don't have endless amount of people to watch your children while you are injured. The 14 year old normally would of watched my youngest but I could not lift my elderly dog up in the vehicle due to my restrictions this place is not for you. I was not having my 2 children wait in the car since the lobby can not be used because of covid restrictions. My better instincts wanted to walk out and say okay I am sorry for the misunderstanding I will not inconvenience you anymore but my dog was in need of medical attention and could not wait any longer. To say the least we could not get out of there soon enough with the awkwardness.

My vet couldn't get me in for two weeks and I was able to get an appointment here. I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews. One person said don't go to Dr Gaylord. Well, that's who I got and I thought she was great. I had never been there before and had to bring in my 17 year old cat. Dr Gaylord was very caring and professional. She answered all my questions and took great care of my cat. I thought the whole staff was very helpful and professional.

This happened on December 28, 2017 and it took a long time for me to write a review because it was a traumatic event for my family. Note that my mom's boyfriend was with this vet for many years before this event. The staff and veterinarian are truly horrible people; they absolutely have no sympathy, they're more than happy to discriminate against people, and all they care about is $$$.My mom's beloved cat was very sick and there was nothing more we could do for him, so we brought him to the vet to put him down. Of course, we were emotional and we cried as we spent the last moments with the cat. My mom, her boyfriend, and I are Deaf and we all use American Sign Language (ASL). When we arrived at the vet hospital, the staff at the front desk was extremely rude and she refused to communicate with us by writing upon request. I was appalled by her horrific behavior. While we were spending time with the beloved cat in a room, the vet came in and spoke to us. I signed, "we're Deaf" then I gestured to him, "write". It is easy for people to understand what that means, yet the vet continued to speak. I repeated by gesturing "write on paper". He ignored me yet again and continued to speak. I looked at my mom's boyfriend in shock. Then he gestured the same way as I did and the vet ignored him too. He kept on talking without getting a paper and pen. My mom was focused on her cat and I got my mom's attention to let her know that the vet refused to communicate with us in a proper way then she told the vet to get a paper and pen to write what he said. Shockingly, the vet ignored her too and carried on speaking. Of course, I became angry and yelled at him with my voice. Then he left abruptly and we all were in shock. A few minutes later, he came back with his assistant, Megan, who knew basic ASL. My mom's boyfriend and I explained to her what just happened and then she ignored us!!! She went straight to my mom to ask her, "when are you ready for us to put him down?"Our experience with them was truly appalling and emotionally devastating while we grieved over the cat's passing. This is something we will never forget. What they did is audism, which is like racism but against Deaf people.

This is a horrible place to take your pets. The staff appear to be very uneducated, not mention they are slow at getting your pet seen. The Veterinarian, Dr. Gaylord, was very rude and did not answer any of my questions. I left with alot of questions that weren't answered. I will never step foot in this business, and would highly recommend to look around for a better Veterinarian.

Dr. Mark Silverio is so kind & gentle with our pets, whether it's just for a Wellness visit, a more urgent matter or if it is, at last, the time to say goodbye to one of our beloved companions. Very knowledgable & competent. Very understanding & sympathetic as well. Takes the time to explain each procedure to us. His staff members are wonderful, too, from the Front Desk to the Exam Rooms. Even though our pets don't look forward to going to the vet, we do because we know they are going to be in good hands! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟to all!

This place is super friendly. I have a senior dog who has to be on special food, and they take good care of him.My advice: DO NOT see Dr Gaylord. See Dr. Walley or Dr. Silverio!

We took our elderly dog to be looked at, as it was obvious he was getting close to needing to be euthanized. The staff was completely unprofessional, and rude to us. They need to check themselves before dealing with patients and their families.Update: Took an extra star off, as my family and I were able to get my dog in with his normal vet. It was brought to our attention that what this vet diagnosed him with could not have been diagnosed based on an xray alone. I had also not thought of this at the time, but what we were telling this vet, was not what they looked him over for, as his primary vet found a lump in his throat, which correlated with his inability to breath properly and based on the care he received from them, made it obvious they did not actually take the time to understand what his condition was or what my family and I were telling them. I am severely disappointed not only in how the staff treated us, but in their negligible care. Also, we had asked for them to send over my dogs updated record to his primary vet. They only sent his records, not his xray, which his primary wanted to better understand their perspective.

This is my first time doing a review for a business and after reading some reviews, I thought it extremely important to give this business a 5-star review. I understand everyone has different experiences; however, I cannot say enough good things about Chenango Animal Hospital. My dogs have been seen by a home vet for 15 years and he moved away. The vet I choose for them to see for the past year, abruptly closed at end of 2021. I found a vet that was supposed to see my 2 dogs next week. Well, as luck would have it my one dog hurt his leg on Friday night, with no vets open until Monday, we kept him calm until Monday when the vet opened back up as the only emergency vet for this area is at Cornell and it seemed like it could wait a bit. I called the new vet on Monday morning and they were unable to get him in, said to take him to Ithaca (Cornell or Colonial), and they had an extremely long waiting list. I called both vets in Ithaca and only Cornell could see him but if he needed an admission or surgery, they would have to refer him someplace else (my thought was where? Syracuse after we have already drove 1 ½ hours to get to Ithaca). They also quoted me $500 to $700 just for him to be seen. Money was not an issue, but I did not like the way they presented it. I then asked around and my friend said to call Chenango Animal Hospital. They initially told me they really didn’t have any openings, but I am not sure if it was my crying at that point or because I did bring my cat there many years ago, but they had me bring him that day.Everyone who we delt with that day was extremely helpful, friendly, and made the visit as best as possible given they are not letting people in the building. The entire process was flawless, and they only charged my $60 for the visit (plus some other stuff they did but the entire visit was less than $200 – nowhere near the $500 to $700 Cornell was charging). I decided to switch both my dogs to this practice and made an appointment for my other dog for next week. Then the next day, she (15 ½ year old golden retriever), suddenly took a turn for the worse. I called them first thing in the morning, and they did not hesitate to see her immediately. Unfortunately, she had a stroke and we had to make the hard decision. Again, the entire staff was professional, understanding, compassionate, etc. and made the entire extremely devasting process seamless. We were able to be with her during the entire process even though they are not letting people in the building and the cost was very reasonable. Please understand when maybe they can’t get your pet in, they might not be the friendliest (maybe they are having a stressful day), or you have to wait a bit in your car, that maybe it is because they are taking care of an emergency situation(s) like they did for me yesterday. I want to thank the entire staff for taking care of my dogs this week.My entire family thanks you for all you did this week for my puppies!!

We have been bringing our pets here for several years and will not be returning after our most recent visit. We have a 13 year old cat that has been in kidney failure for over 2 years. We are giving him subcutaneous iv fluids daily and need prescriptions for his fluids and needles. My husband recently called for a new prescription and we were told that since it's been over a year since he's been seen that the vet will need to see him to do a hydration check. That's fine. My husband told the lady over the phone that we will not be doing any tests or shots on him since his health has been rapidly declining. She said that's fine, it's just a quick hydration check. We come to the appt. and still have to wait in the car and they are still not letting anyone inside, which is strange since I took our reptile to a different vet several months ago and was allowed in with no problem. Anyway, after several minutes of waiting, we get a call saying that he is overdue for his rabies vaccine. My husband told her that we told them on the phone several days before that we aren't doing any shots or tests on him due to his health and that he is an indoor cat and they said that was fine. She said that she never said that, hmm. She said that the vet didn't feel comfortable doing a quick exam on him without giving him the vaccine. After seveal minutes of arguing with her, we agreed to the vaccine because we really needed his prescriptions renewed. When our cat is brought out to us, the vet tech asked if we needed new prescriptions for him. I told her yes, that is the only reason he was brought in, not to get shots since his health is not great. Then to top it all off, the vet didn't even have the courtesy to call us and tell us how the exam went or how our cat seemed to be doing. I had to ask the vet tech when she brought our receipt out how he was and that we didn't get a call from the vet. She said she was busy running aroung in there. Now the last few days our cat has not been acting very well. The vet could have put in an exemption for him not getting the vaccine due to his health condition but chose not too. Long story short, they seem to care more about money than your pet's health, do NOT recommend coming here.

Had an appointment at 2:30, they had my dogs shot records but then told me I need my dogs shot record before she could be see even though that's where she get all here shots, kicked me out of the examination room after they had already taken my dog back and made me wait over an hour and a half for my dog to be seen as they took other patients back. Speaking from a man of color in a predominantly white area.

Been taking my dog there for years but during covid they really showed their real quality and how they only care about turning a profit. They sent my dog back to me covered in vomit and tried telling me it happened In my own car basically calling me a liar and even tho she's only 10 pounds they put on her records that 10 people have to restrain her for a muzzle.. the entire staff I dealt with are the most unprofessional most frustrating staff in the triple cities. They were dismissive and uncaring after I swiped my card and they got what they wanted. If you love and care about your animals go somewhere else if I could rate this a 0 I would have. Never coming back.
