Vary nice facility. Nice people. We went to adopt a 5 month old kitten. She is such a a little angel. We are enjoying her as she settles in her forever home it's been two weeks now. We came from Holley NY. Best of luck to all the staff and animals. God bless.

We visited this SPCA looking to maybe adopt a dog and we left with 1 Beautiful 3 mo old puppy + 2 adorable cats. Boy did we hit the jackpot - best pets ever! And Everyone was amazingly helpful and kind. We were heading home the next morning to Pittsburgh, PA and they opened early so we could pick up our new family on our way out of town. 3 yrs later we are happier than ever with our amazing crew - Kaiya the dog, Max the black cat and Eloise the little tuxedo cat who is also the big boss of all of us, including the 100 lb dog.Thank you SPCA!

Beautiful Place set back off the road. Cats have an inside place and a wire enclosed outside area. Dogs look well groomed and taken care care of. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Great staff, very helpful. My cat was neutered, chipped, groomed, and all shots for such a gr8 price. And they took great care of him. Better then some vets. Thank you Allegany spca.

This shelter has no morals, they will not post a lost pet found if it is a specialty breed. They will then adopt your cat out to an employees family and give you zero chance to regain your beloves animal. Pieces of filth who deserve everything they have coming for them. They should be absolitely ashamed of themselves and disgraced at their behavior.

Very disheartened to hear that this facility has allowed an employee to steal someone’s cat. Return Chester the Maine coon home to his rightful owners!!!!! Despicable behavior from a facility who claims to help animals!!!

Get Amy Clemmons her Main Coon back. Your employee illegally adopted him out to a family member. You all should be sued. Disgusting.

Our family wanted to expand our fur family and adopt a cat. We needed to adopt a younger cat in hopes that he/she would have an easier time adapting to our dog. Oh my.. what an experience. I had no idea how in demand kittens/younger cats were now. It seemed like applications every where near us far exceeded the cats that needed a home. After a couple weeks of searching and with less than high hopes, we called the Allegany SPCA on a Saturday morning. The lady on the phone was very friendly and said, to our delighted surprise, that we could come in for a visit and fill out an application that afternoon. When we arrived, the building was beautiful and all staff very helpful and friendly. All precautions due to COVID were in place. We filled out an application and then we were taken into one of the several rooms with cats up for adoption. (So many that I wished I could just take them all...) You could see right away that the cats were all taken care of very well. Staff were knowledgeable on the background of all cats and recommended the ones that were known to already have good experiences in houses with dogs. We were given lots of time to play with the kitties and to make the hard decision of which one we would be bringing home. Needless to say we walked in with the plan to adopt one and walked out with two kitties that day. (Again... so difficult to not want them all.) I highly recommend that this is the place to go if you are wishing to adopt a new fur baby.

They contact you very fast. I was able to apply for adoption for my kitten and in about 2 days I was able to adopt him and take him home with me. Unfortunately, since this would be my first pet, he seemed to be sneezing a lot and I remember a different shelter told me to look out for sneezing cats. I took him to a vet and he has an upper respiratory infection. It made me wonder how much do they really pay attention to the pets they shelter for their health. Hiro is now on the path to recovery but I am still shocked they did not say anything about it. They were nice though. I would adopt from them again but make sure the animal I adopt is healthy before I take them home.

Beautiful, clean facilities, amazing staff and volunteers. I visit sporadically in search of a dog to adopt. They need donations to assist them in giving the best to the animals.Yes I occasionally donate directly or through Amazon.

I was assured from the buildings cleanliness and the staffs genuine interest in Buttons that my new pet has had the best of care during his wait for a new home. The staff took pictures and gave our dog a great send-off. If you are looking for a pet this is a wonderful place to consider. We'll worth the ride. Thank you Lucas, Graham, and Crystal.

If your main coon gets out and ends up here an employee will just steal it for themselves

Wish they were more willing to let you adopt dogs even if your grandchildren might be around them once in a while. You can teach them it's okay on your own it's all part of the bond and trust you have with your pet. How can they overcome if they are not given the chance.

I asked them how I should deal with corruption within Catt. Co. SPCA and dog control. They told me to contact Catt. Spca. Sounds about right. The "FRIENDS AND FAMILY" program runs pretty deep in N.Y. and the SPCA no exception.

this place is ACTUALLY comical. I applied for 2 separate dogs and wasn’t hearing back by the timeframe provided on their website, which when i applied they replied and stated they had an influx on applications. so i called a few days later and inquired if the dogs were still available to which they replied they took the dogs down from their website to go through the applications, but GUARANTEED that everyone who applied would hear back whether they got approved or denied/ were or were not getting the puppies. i go on facebook to see the SAME DAY i called to ask if the dogs were still available, they told someone else (which i found out through facebook comments) that the dogs already had meet and greets set up and were about to go to their new homes.

Do not recommend for homes seeking to adopt. Our application was submitted and we didn’t hear back for over a week, despite the website and application stating review may take up to a week. I continued to call over the next MONTH with absolutely no update. We offered to provide more information, references, anything to help move the process along. I finally called and asked for an update once again, and was told the dog we applied for would require a fenced-in yard. This was not included in the dog’s profile nor was mentioned when I answered other questions regarding our home environment. I would not have gotten ANY of this information if I hadn’t continuously called. The communication is awful and the lack of information completely wasted our time.

I am beyond disappointed and frustrated with my experience at this shelter. I would give this adoption shelter zero stars if I could. My adoption application was approved prior to my visit and I was told several times that I would be able to take the kitten home if she and I got along. With this in mind, my roommates and I scheduled an appointment and made a 4 hour trip to pick her up and bring her home.Upon arrival, the staff did not acknowledge any of us and pretended we were not there, despite watching us walk through the front doors. After introducing myself, the staff member pointed to the doors the cats were in, but she did nothing further. She did not take the time to show us where the cat was or tag along to observe how the cat interacted with us. After about 15 minutes of us being inside, the staff member approached us from the other room and said she was not comfortable moving forward with the adoption because she claimed one of my roommates were sobbing and having a breakdown in the hallway due to a phobia of cats This was not true, but because the four of us were split up, we made sure to check on each other before accusing the staff of making a false statement. Soon after, the staff asked us to leave because they were closing, and we did not have the opportunity to question the staff member. When I called the next day to discuss my experience with the manager, he was suspicious of what I said. He wrote down my contact information and mentioned he would call back when he heard from the staff involved, but I have not heard anything since speaking with him.My roommates and I were all extremely heartbroken when we realized we could not take her home. Such a disappointing experience.

Very nice facility. Kennels were filthy.Staff apparently had better things to do like be on there cell phones or iPads. Maybe a little more work and less social media.

This is such a caring shelter! I adopted a dog from there last week and they called today to see how he is doing. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and the staff were all friendly and kind. Kelsey and Graham were exceptional. It is evident that they love their job and the animals. Thank you for all that you do!

My first visit to the facility. The staff were friendly and were keeping everything clean in each kennel. The animals are all well cared for. It was a pleasant visit. I submitted an application for adoption and look forward to hearing back on it.

Because of my country setting I seem to get a stream of drop offs. I had an affectionate young male they took after many phone calls, run around and paperwork. A couple weeks after dropping him off I went to see him and to give a $200 donation. They said he wasn't there but he hadn't been adopted. I asked repeatedly where he was so I could see him and give them the donation. They hemmed and hawed giving clues like he is a couple hours away but refused to tell me where or to tell me why I couldn't be told. They passed me off to someone who was coming in the next day. Telling me he would call. Like several people have noted they do not answer the phone and do not return phone calls. Next day I started calling all the numbers on their out going message trying to find the right person. Finally got a return call from a very rude man telling me they couldn't tell me because of HIPAA. There is no such thing for animals. Apparently these people think they are smarter than everyone else and apparently they have something to hide. My mind is going they sold him for medical research because there is no other reason on this planet not to tell me. I learned a long time ago if it doesn't make sense then it is a lie. I almost kept that sweetheart but i already had 4 with ferals showing up yearly. It still makes me cry.

The staff here are very kind and caring. They were so patient and supportive. I attended a low cost clinic to have my dog spayed and chipped. They did a superb job and l am so appreciative for this service. Highly recommend.
