NOT FRESH! I picked up my advertised as "fresh, all natural" turkey today (first time I've ordered one from BHF), and when I got home I found I had been sold a partially-defrosted, frozen turkey with a plastic pop-up timer and a package that said "minimally processed." So it is neither fresh nor all-natural. I feel a 12 lb. turkey for $60 should be what it is advertised to be. I won't make the mistake of going there again when I can get an actual organic 12 lb. turkey from Whole Foods for $36.

On our way up to the Saratoga area, we stopped at the New Baltimore Rest Stop. There Black Horse Farms had a little stand outside selling produce and baked goods. We purchased a peach pie expecting it to be delicious like the cashier told us. Unfortunately it was one of the worst pies we’ve ever had. The peaches were gross and tasted like canned food. The pie crust was stale and tasteless. Truly terrible. Would not recommend this place in the slightest

Stopped by on our way back from Coxsackie and was blown away by the breadth, depth, and quality of the offerings in the retail store. The in-store bakery produces a stunning array of fresh-baked treats from pound cake to pretzels. The meat case made me drool and I can't think of anywhere else I can find Northwind Farm ribeyes, which are incredible. The curation of imported goods, combined with on-farm preserves, produce, etc, is unique. Definitely worth a detour.

Absolutely the best. I recommend to every guest that stays in the Athens area. The quintessential upstate farm stand experience and beyond.

We have been coming to blackhorse farms since 2014. The best flowers and outside decorations for all year round. Buy the plant food! Bought my petunias in April and they still are beautiful at the end of September!

Great store to get fresh meats, cheeses and anything else you can think of. They also have great flowers and plants available as well. Staff I super friendly and they even have free samples throughout the entire store. Love the vibes of this place and will continue to keep going.

I have shopped at Black Horse Farms frequently, but after today's visit, I won't be back. The owner is caustic, rude and dismissive. At the cash register she grabbed the potted herbs I was purchasing for my garden by their leaves, not by the container. That was after I saw her angrily snap at the young employees who were assisting me. There is no justification for bullying her young employees and it made for a very awkward situation. Worst of all, I asked one of the employees if there were any organic tomatoes in the potted garden area. He asked the owner, who was standing nearby, and she said that all of the tomatoes are organic. Not true. She must think I'm stupid. The real problem is she is a lying, abrasive beast. As I said, she has lost this customer. I bet she lose others as well.

This place is great. Everyone is very friendly and the quality of everything is excellent. Lots of local products. The baked goods here are my go to if I don't have time to make my own desserts. Also their breads are excellent. Sourdough and roasted garlic are my 2 favorites.

My wife and I have been a customer for many years. We buy two turkeys at Thanksgiving and two trees at Christmas. We have always had great service and the quality of products is excellent. And the people have always been super. Thank you Blackhorse !!

Since I had a family member work there and tell me how poorly the owner treated her I would not recommend working there and have never gone back. Besides their prices are very high and I can get same quality for less at many other farms.

Hometown store serving Greene County for a very long time. The fresh breads are absolutely delicious as well as the pies. Produce is always fresh and local. Stop in and get some today right off Rt9W just past the Drive-Ins

I love supporting local farms, but I won’t be returning here. While they did have a nice array of products for a farm store, the prices are astronomical. They have some nerve charging so much for dying flowers. And $16 for a pint of cherries?! I’m sorry but they have no business charging this much for produce when they’re not certified organic, non-gmo, or free of pesticides. And whoever was working the cash register today was incredibly nasty and seemed to scoff when I was shocked by the prices.

Very nice, the owner helped me get a cart because I cant walk without one. The vegetables were clean, the store was clean, everything was perfect. I bought a big red beefsteak tomatoes, some apple cinnamon scones, and a saspirrila, brought them home, delicious my husband loved them. Much thanks to the owner, Chelli, for her compassion and kindness

Some of the best soups I've had anywhere. The best has to be the stuffed pepper soup with the fresh baked pretzels. I've travelled back to Black Horse only to try the soup of the day, even though it's hours away. Worth the trip everytime. It's kept right by the door so you can smell it as soon as you enter.

I've been a long time customer of this place and personally I think they're great.Great selection of their own produce during the season - everything from asparagus to tomatoes to squash and corn. It says a lot about a place when you can drive by their fields and see where your food comes from. More and more of a selection of organic crops the past couple years as well as organic meats, a big plus for me.Odds and ends, gourmet stuff, some kickin' hot sauces and a great bakery (which, regardless of what others may say, really is "their own" -I've been in the store shopping and heard the mixer going myself). Pies are to die for and a favorite of many.I'd recommend it to anyone into local, healthy food (and not so healthy but delicious baked goods :) )

I bought some items Friday. 2 of them were frozen meat. I was visiting a friend in Hannacroix so I wanted to thank him for letting me hunt his land by cooking up some steaks. I opened them Saturday night and they were spoiled. I took them back Sunday and the lady that dealt with me was apologetic and offered my money back. I didn't get to 200lbs for nothing so I asked for replacement steaks and she offered up some of the fresh ones AND a container of cookies...I think she saw I like to eat lol Anyways, I was happy things went smoothly although you never know how things work out sometimes but next time I am in town I won't hesitate to stop by again and buy items from there.

We came across their booth at a NYS thruway rest area. The tiniest carton of raspberries you’ve ever seen were $5. I bought them anyway hoping the quality would match the price...nope. The top few were good, the bottom were awful a few were moldy. Definitely won’t buy from again.

I only had a chance to visit the garden center/nursery. Definitely check out the late season perrenials - fantastic deals on absolute gems! The staff somehow managed to even more amazing than the plants - incredibly helpful, patient, and kind. They also went way, way above and beyond helping me, and in such a casual way it was obvious this is their norm!

My favorite farm stand :) Friendly, family run farm store, lots of yummy gourmet items, cheeses (my fave is the cheddar) nice looking fresh produce. I love the heirloom tomatoes, and their eggs are the best around!

Horrible plants Ignorant people. They tell you there's nothing wrong with their dying plants When I complained they told me not to shop with them again no problem I will never be back and I will tell people not to shop here. And I like how they give you a lame excuse and how it your fault but never there's even though they're selling dead plants that are shocked. And weather damaged.

Super expensive. Some items are great but recently I bought a pie that was soggy and mushy and overpriced. And when I tried to cash inmy loyalty points, things became unpleasant.

I haven't visited in person, but last year and then again this year, I've purchased their acorn squash from my local Hannaford store, and it is just the best! It tastes great and it doesn't have that wet, stringy consistency that so often ruins it for me. Keep planting those great seeds and doing whatever else you do to produce these wonderful squash plants. Thank you!
