LOVE LOVE LOVE RIVERHEADS LOCATION NFAWL—They not only have a much larger selection of dogs—Their dogs have a trainer, and it is obvious in the dogs behavior that they are being trained—Most their dogs do not have any behavioral or physical problems,,, at least, none that are being ignored—They actually clean their dogs when needed and not less than once a week—Their employees are more than happy to offer any information—all employees are up-to-date with all information about all the dogs—Their employees don’t mind if you visit multiple days in a row or you meeting multiple dogs for hoursbecause they understand you want to get to know your future dog—The dogs in Riverhead, or genuinely cared for, and taking care of emotionally physically hygienically and get lots of exercise— The employees give you lots of options on how meeting the dogs can go!!!Such as One and One meetsmultiple meets separately but same day with your dog and you can foster it for a week!!— They are also very thorough with the application not to scare you to know that the dog is getting a genuine good forever home-And unlike I was told at southold“ she visited (x) dog yesterday what is her problem?” I promise you that will not happen in Riverhead.,, because they will remain professional the entire timeNow this may seem very basic necessities for an animal shelter, but you would be surprised how their partner shelter in southold treats their animals and clients!

Shelter is amazing. Staff is some of the most friendly and wholesome people I’ve ever encountered. Steven and Madison were fantastic in helping us with the cats. I’ll definitely recommend this shelter to anyone I come across looking to adopt a pet.

Their work with love for these dogs are so underrated.Each animal is treated with love and respect. Loving staff that is attentive with each adoption in successfully joining a new pet with the correct prospective families/owners. Truly an amazing job they do.Thank you!

We were given a soft, gentle soul of an angel that makes our lives whole and full of love, and it’s all thanks to the people at this beautiful place. They paired us with the best dog imaginable. They care very much about the adopters and the amazing beautiful dogs. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a lifelong family member

The Riverhead and Southold Shelters run by the North for Animal League are absolutely awesome animal care and training shelters to bring abandoned animals to future pet parents I donate often and they rate 5 Stars. Please donate and visit it will be a wonderful experience for you and the abandoned animals

Been to numerous shelters here on the island but was most impressed with the sincerity ,love, concern and care I found at Riverhead Animal Shelter. Th employees and volunteers couldn't be more informative and caring. They found me the perfect dog for me. I never imagined I would ever adopt a small breed after having large and medium breeds all my life but after being interviewed and assisted in filling out an application I got a call a week later to come in and I went home with a silky hair terrior. They gave him the name "Link" but I call him JoeyJack 😊. He is 3 -4 years old and is the perfect match for me. It's been about 3 to 4 months he is with me and I just feel blessed. Please , if you want to rescue a pet , visit here and meet both staff and pets. I am thinking of getting JoeyJack a brother or sister to have...and yes, I want another rescue too. A great feeling, a great companion. I recommended RAS to myneighbor and he too was very pleased and happy with everyone there. He came home with a 4 month old puppy and I notice my neighbor smiles more now. 😉🐾
