Everything from the tour to the tastings, inclusive of a few additional 'surprise' tastings, to the conversations with staff were top-notch. The various whiskeys are absolutely amazing. Going to make this at least a yearly trek, if not more often!

Eythl (our 2CV) brought my wife and I to this spectacular distillery. Normally you need to make a reservation for the distillery and we called 15 minutes prior to arriving and they were kind enough to take us. We were given a couple of tasting to allow us to decide which bourbon we would have. I had the Pinot noir and my wife had the Cabernet. They set a bottle of cold water on their patio along with some dried apricots, dried cranberries and almonds which all went very well with our bourbons. We ended up taking a bottle of the Cabernet home. We will be back for a tour and next time with friends.

Totally recommend a visit! I’ve never done anything like this before. The property is gorgeous and the buildings have a historic feel. Our guide Danny was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions.I’ve been on tours where things are staged just for the tour. This wasn’t the case. We got to see the actual processes in action and actually saw the staff and owners actively working as we passed through. Our tour concluded with a tasting. There was an option to purchase tastings with charcuterie and a high proof bourbon. We did the basic tasting and were very happy with it. For $28 per person it included 3 bourbons, 1 rye, 1 single malt; and light mix of almonds, craisins, dried peaches, and crackers.My boyfriend and I expected we’d go home with a bottle of bourbon, but ended up liking the rye the best and purchased a bottle!The only critique I have is that the website is tough to use on a mobile device. With some trial and error I was able to figure it out and make a booking.This place is a must do for anyone visiting the Hudson Valley!

I would highly recommend hillrock, it is a true farm to glass labor of love with no expense spared to craft the best whiskey they can. Its a beautiful facility with awesome people who work there all of which have a passion for the craft and art of making world class spirits. They bring the terroir concept to reality for whiskey and truly bring a unique flavor profile and experience to be had while enjoying a glass. There tours are amazing and staff will go out of there way to make it a memorable experience , if your into whiskey or not go here now!!! and buy some bottles :)

Excellent tour and the best explanation I have ever heard of the different types of whisky and other spirits. Tim(?) the operations manager was the most knowledgeable expert I've come across anywhere. The bourbon is also highly recommended. Unusual process and excellent results. Thoroughly recommended.

Our random day trip ended at Hillrock estate for a incredible tour & tasting. I’ll contest Hillrock should in fact be added to the bourbon trail (slight detour) as it doesn’t disappoint.

One afternoon was all it took to become a regular visitor to the distillery and a regular participant in one of the finest products on the adult recreational beverage market.“Reviews” are really nothing more than peoples opinions regarding any certain subject, and a visit to the distillery is a balance of art in the craft and devotion to its history that I openly defy anyone to dispute.

My cousin and I came to Hillrock with our girlfriends for a tour and tasting which was absolutely incredible. We have tasted hundreds of whiskeys before and been to tasting experiences but never had Hillrock whiskey before. Hillrock was easily the number one tasting experience we have been to. Upon arrival we were enthusiastically greeted by Omar making us feel right at home even though we showed up 15 minutes late to our scheduled time. As Omar brought us through the tour it was obvious he has a passion for whiskey and is extremely knowledgeable on the subject as well as the history of Hillrock Distillery. Stepping into the rickhouse was my favorite experience as you get hit with the magnificent scent of whiskey ageing in barrels. Omar brought us through the Solera aging process which is basically the ultimate infinity barrel. After that, We stepped inside the malt house where we were greeted with the aroma of malted barley being raked. We made our way over to the Vendomme Copper Hybrid Still, saw the fermentation process, and even tasted the white dog distillate. The hearts of the Hillrock distillate was the cleanest tasting distillate I've had the pleasure to taste, I wish I had a glass of that during the actual tasting experience later on. Finally our tour concluded with the part we were all waiting for. The tasting experience. We entered the main room to a perfectly set table, polished glasses, and a charcuterie board which did not dissappoint. My cousin and I got the barrel proof tasting which I'm glad we did. As I nosed the first glass of Barrel Proof Solera Aged Bourbon Cognac Cask Finish my mind took me right back to the rickhouse, it was the exact scent that was coming off of the aging barrels. Each and every whiskey we tasted was absolutely incredible. Hillrock Estate Distillery was a true grain to glass experience that was entirely made better by the knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide Omar that took us through the tour. We will be back.

If you’re considering going to tour the distillery or just purchase some of their whisky at the store, do it! You won’t be let down.We had an amazing time on our tour, you honestly feel like you’re in KY while you’re there. Our tour guide Sam was amazing and very knowledgeable, he made us feel so welcomed and we had a great time with him. Such a unique experience truly getting to see the whole process from grain to glass.We will definitely be returning and purchasing their product regularly.

Now that I've been here, I must recommend anyone else that visits upstate NY to COME HERE! We've had our fair share of distillery tours, but this one was a cut above the rest just in the tour alone! It kept us engaged, interested, and the tasting COMPLETELY blew us away. I'm telling you, it earned every one of the 5 stars, from the friendly staff to the top quality spirits! Well worth the trip to visit Hillrock Estate Distillery. The product, atmosphere and staff are exceptional.The distillery is located on the farm on which the grains are grown. They grow, harvest, malt, smoke, ferment and distill three products - bourbon, rye and single malt whiskey. They vary the finishing which gives the spirits unique character and taste.Their entire team is very knowledgeable and passionate about producing exceptional spirits. Omar hosted our tour and tasting providing lots of info and insights into the process. Tim, who is the head of ops and distiller, really added lots of great info and a special treat (a bottle of which we purchased to take home…).If you really want to learn about an excellent local distillery you must visit Hillrock!

Hillrock is a wonderful place (especially to visit!) that is producing fantastic field to glass bourbons, ryes, and single malt whiskies. If you are familiar with their offerings through distribution, you are missing out on excellent small batch offerings available only at the distillery.I took the tour and the full tasting with cheese and charcuterie. The tour takes you through their solera process — very interesting! — as well as how they work with their grains. The tasting room is warm and inviting, and the tasting offerings a good mix of products. I will definitely visit again!

Douglas was a fantastic guide. Beautiful property, great buildings and welcoming atmosphere. The attention to detail in the distilling shows in the amazing products. Tasting 5 whiskeys, 2 Bourbon, 2 Rye and a Single Malt was an absolute joy. We had a difficult time picking 2 for purchase. We ended up with the Single Malt & Regular Double Cask Rye. We will be back and ordering online. People used to wine tasting may bock at tasting price... DON'T!! It is well worth it at twice the price . Go to a bar and order 5 shots of "house whiskeys" and you will spend more with no tour, great conversation or world class quality whiskey. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a quality whiskey. Slaintè!

Loved the tour with Parker. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the whole process. Loved their Rye we got at the Union Square Farmers Market we just needed to come up to see how it was made. The setting is beautiful, the Ryes Bourbons and Whisky is top notch. Even got a bottle personalized. Highly recommend the tour and tasting !!

Best distillery tour I've been on. Fantastic experience from the views, to the smells in the rickhouse, to the taste of the spirits. Tour guide was extremely personable and knowledgable. Definitely worth a visit if you like whiskey. Be prepared to drop some cash on a bottle when you're leaving.
