Malinda is super knowledgeable and is approachable (sometimes hard to find in a fishing store) and patiently answered many of my questions. The shop is full of things that you need and is walking distance from the Lower Fly parking lot (1 minute). This is my favorite fly shop so far and when I travel, I hope to offer the next shop the high compliment “you folks are as good as Malinda’s back in Altmar, NY.” I am very satisfied with my experience.

Wow, what can you say about Malinda‘s Spey And tackle shop. Absolutely a fly tires A dream fantasy come true excellent materials very good service. Malinda is a one of a kind person with a one of a kind establishment imagine going into a fly shop where there’s no dog beds dresses shirts, slacks, dog collars, and etc. it is a fly tires dream come true as well as excellent Spey equipment switch equipment Wow again it’s a flyfisherman Paradise. I wait all year to buy any gear so that I can buy it from Malinda's. This shop is packed with gear, especially tying materials, all at reasonable price. Malinda herself is a great source of information about fishing the Salmon.

You have two options when you come to downtown Alton near the church pool. Right away you see the Outfitters shop, with the big open signs and flags and looking very welcoming. This is a good shop, for sure. But if you stand with your back against the building and look across the street, on the corner you’ll see Malinda‘s fly shop.If you’re a traditional or Fly fisherman or Spey Caster, this is the place to go.The shop is well equipped for everything you need for fly. From tying flies to flies tried and true for the area. She is well equipped to provide you whats needed. Waders, boots, rods, it’s all here.They carry used brands and Hardy rods and reels. so if you’re looking for a Orvis equipment this is not the place .Malinda is a very experienced Spey caster. You can arrange lessons here or just get some good advice. Always friendly and always eager to improve.I visit the shop when I’m in the area even when I have nothing to purchase.

Neat and clean and everything you would need to make your own flies or use some of hers. Malinda knows her stuff when she is talking fly fishing. She has a fully equipped store with anything you would need. If you are looking for discontinued hooks or something special she will go out of her way to find it. If you can't come to her shop she will be glad to ship it to you. She is always available to answer any questions. She is your go to person when you are needing anything. Check the place out you won't be sorry you did and may learn something new in the process.

Really nice Fly shop next to the no-kill fly zone of the Salmon River. Everything a fly fisherman needs although I didn’t see any fly rods there. You can even get lessons there on the river and using the right gear. Melinda is actually there and is very knowledgeable. Definitely worth a stop!

Best fly shop on the Salmon River. One of the best fly tying shops I've seen anywhere. I haven't seen this much fly tying stuff in one shop. If Malinda doesn't have it, you probably don't need it. This store is so packed with stuff it's unbelievable. If you can't find what you're looking for ask Malinda, she probably has it tucked away somewhere. Also she is an excellent source of information on the river as well.

Spoke with Malinda on the phone and ordered some wading cleats. She was super awesome. Respectful, friendly, and to the point. Had my cleats shipped all the way to Texas and they got here super quick.Never actually been into the shop but I know for a fact that I have a great shop waiting for me when I make it up to the Salmon.Thanks for the great service Malinda

Thank you for offering the area a expertise fly/spey shop! If you haven't been to Malinda's tackle shop your missing out. This has to be the best fly/spey shop in the northern tier with some of the most offering in fly tieing materials and supplies. Weather you wanna duplicate something or it's your first time tieing a fly this shop is for you. With the extensive information and knowledge on the salmon river Melinda's is a must go to stop for all fly/spey fisherman visiting the area. Carrying all the top end materials/tools you could find yourself stuck in this shop forever. (Warning keep the wife at home or in the truck. Money will be spent....) 🙂🎣

This is the way a fly shop should be, in my sometimes-not-so-humble opinion--you can go in there to get advice/talk fishing/shoot the breeze, and the folks there are friendly and helpful without pushing you to spend money on things you don't need. Malinda is a delightful person as well as a very knowledgeable angler. Best selection of gear and tying materials in the area for you inevitably end up spending money too.

Favorite shop for all things steelhead! Small shop, locally owned, awesome owner. Limited slection of high end, quality rods, reels, waders, etc. Some clothing, hats, gloves, accessories. Good fly slection, solid book selection, and enough fly tying materials to tie what you didn't know you needed before you left on your trip! Definitely stop in here on the way to the river!

Loved this place!My dog Holly and I visited Malinda's Fly and Spey Shop today and we had a blast. They were super friendly, helpful, full of excelent knowledge and great prices. I was very grateful to Malinda for letting me bring Holly in and Holly loved meeting them too. I loved looking at all the excelent assortment of fly equipmnet and I bought a Terra Fly Tying Vice. Holly loved the back scratches and treats.Holly and I will return. This is a must visit place.
