Haven't been in a while. Prices are up and I know many people heading to Watertown or Price Chopper up the road. I stopped in on recommendation from my brother to get a sub. A half sub $5.00 . It was a half sub but was like a whole. The produce section was very nice and fresh and the store is clean. I wanted a London broil. Looked at price chopper and one for $19.00.Here it was $9.88 and twice the size.I know prices are up but we need to support our small local business if we can.

Sad to say but the days of big m deli subs being the best sub in town are definately OVER. All reviews are from 3 or more years ago. How things have changed. Different rolls, different Mayo. Taste is totally non-existent. I can't find anything good to say about these subs anymore. So disappointed.

Great for a quick stop to grab a bite to eat. There were very few options around since it is the off-season, and we had little time, so this worked perfectly to grab a fast slice of pizza that really did the trick. Otherwise, everything looked fine, clean, and orderly, with a plentiful supply and prices that were good. Kind of interesting to require a bathroom key for retrieval at customer service, but no issue. Checkout was fast and friendly - no complaints.

I'm a local, and they last time I went there to shop (8/1/2022), I was very disappointed. It's the peak summer season, and the store was poorly stocked in general. I was surprised, and the Deli dept. was the worst. At 2PM on a Monday, there was NO hot food, and almost no cold salads. Service was slow and poorly done. So sad, as I love this store, and it seems to be getting very run down.

Great home town store. Very friendly and helpful staff. The deli rocks out lunch specials every day. Also they do BBQ cookouts a few times during the summer that supports local charities. Beer is always cold in there coolers unlike a few other stores in the area.

I enjoy grocery shopping at this store because they usually have what I'm looking for, in contrast to our 4 year old, Alex Bay Price Chopper that frequently doesn't have what I go in for. The Big M has a friendly, cozy, small-town feel to it, and the staff has always been nice and helpful. Sometimes the prices may be a few pennies more than the big conglomerate Price Chopper, but I don't mind as long as I'm able to get what I go in for. The baked goods , salads, and grab n' go foods are good and the Deli has the best, fresh made, sub sandwiches second to no one. Awesome!!

Small hometown store and I really like it over Price Chopper. The deli department needs some good help though. I was in there the other day to get stuff and there were 3 girls behind the deli counter and no other customers waiting. I stood there for a good 5 minutes waiting to be acknowledged, but they just looked at me and turned around..finally someone came out from the back and asked if she could help me......this is NOT good. I will continue to shop there, but the customer service at the deli needs a huge improvement. Smile and greet your customers and wait on them in a timely fashion; that's all any customer wants.

I have to say that it was the cleanest and brightest store I've been to. It's a bigger store than the average one. I was only shopping for 2 items So I didn't have a chance to peruse the rest of the store but it seemed very well stocked.The women's bathroom was very clean. Just to let you know if you want to use the restroom you have to go to the service desk to get the key. Overall I was very impressed with the store.

I frequent there for lunch every week. Lunch is 12 to 1 or for some 1230 to 130. Two days in a row they have not had there deli ready for the lunch crowd nor is service easily available. I will not be going there any longer.

They have a great bakery and deli section. Produce is good most of the time. We do like their meats. They also have a large beer section with plenty of choices. They have a section with generic tupe foods that sre reasonably priced. They do tend to be more expensive as its a resort area. The people are very friendly and willing to help you. You can also get there by boat, which is a great experience.

Been shopping here over 11 yrs. A little limited but if you ask they might put the item you need in the store. The owners are awesome people, down to earth. Very family oriented. People that work there are friendly, with a smile upon there face always. A great place to shop, meat fresh, Clean store.

My preferred grocery to shop in the North Country. They have everything you need and want. Checkout the front shelves which are full of surprises. Trying their home made deli salads (not pre-containered) is an absolute must!

I like this little supermarket in the Bay because it has all your needs without traveling up the road. The people are nice and they run their 5 for 19.99 meat deals which is a very good way to load up on company food and their meat is very good. Also there are gas pumps, a bank and liquor store on the property. Great hometown market.

Great prices great service. They have some of the best Meats in town. You can get hot lunches daily. And a good Deli you need to try at the grinders.

Wonderful places to shop for stuff you really don't need, but want. The shops on the main thoroughfare can get pricey, you just have to shop wisely & be a bit frugal.Parking is NOT free on the main road, you gotta pay the meters!, it can be, if you find a spot at the end...near the docks. There are a few handicapped spots, the streets are police patrolled, so have a sticker/placard, or your gonna get a ticket.When you do park on the road....make positive that you lock-up the car stereo, phone cables, stuff...there are a LOT of bars & drunks roaming the streets...soooo, please be careful & lock/hide your valuables.

Great prices for a local market. They really try hard to provide specialty items as requested by customers. Friendly service, especially in the deli, which also offers sandwiches and pizza!

First of all, we return every year and stay in beautiful Goose Bay. Everything about the area is uplifting because, face it... you're on vacation and happy to "go home" for a week during the summer. So it's with regret that I am compelled to write anything negative about the Big M. I have never loved to go grocery shopping so much...it's a hometown small enterprise, it's very convenient, it's clean, and it surprisingly has everything I'd ever need. Love that! The negative? The checkout staff. Rarely have I met more begrudging workers, so plagued with courteous customer service so as to make everyone uncomfortable and unappreciated...we are a bother to them. Yet without vacationers, they wouldn't have a job. I am director of a large nonprofit where our staff are service oriented to a fault, and if they are ungracious, they weed themselves out of a job, and only after receiving training. The most peculiar comment from a certain female age 30's checker was..."I'll need a bagger on line ___, *sigh*." A big ol' sigh, mind you. No greeting. And when I uncover 2 cases of water underneath my produce and meats and over $100 worth of foods, she says, and I quote, "oh, I guess there wasn't that much in your cart. You had the water covered up, so you made it look like it was a big order". I did? She is a long-haired brunette/redhead, and the other checker she was speaking with was equally as uninterested in patrons. They have worked at the Big M for a few years. On the other hand, the poor bagger was doing his very best, and the deli folks are cheery and helpful. Why, oh why, does such an establishment that is great in every way tolerate, and more importantly, not train, your employees to be courteous and engaging? Do they not know there is happiness gained from making others happy? And if this makes more sense...do they not know there's a Price Chopper down the road? Please please make these critical changes to your front-line staff. Thank you.

I visit there every couple of weeks to go to the bank and get groceries. I find the people there are very friendly. You can get in and out quickly. There is a very well priced (for consumers) gas bar.

Right off the road with everything you may need. There's a bank and liquor store in the same plaza. Grocery store was quite large and had a great selection with a little bit of everything. It's our quick stop!

This store has a little of everything. Its meat dept. Is pretty good and the produce looks good. Prices are good for that area. Bonus: theres a liquor store and bank also here as well as gas

A small grocery that has just about everything you might need. We grabbed groceries for our week vacation at near by Black Lake while on a day visit to Alex Bay. They really do have a bit of everything including gas. Also at this location is a bank and liquor store.

For a small upstate town the Big M has quite a selection of groceries and prepared foods. The meat counters had a better selection of cuts then markets in the Capital District

I’ve been getting subs and groceries here off and on for most of my life and it’s pure nostalgia to be gone for awhile and walk in to a time capsule where the only things that are new are the faces and products. Price Chopper might be cheaper but I’ll pay extra for some memories any day.

It takes A LOT to upset me to the point of wanting to boycott a store. To see an active duty military mom (I know I have seen her on Post with her family) get SHAMED for having WIC vouchers and using them; then have two cashiers PROCEED to TALK ABOUT her and her WIC vouchers and how annoying they were and she was for using them; made me want to take my cart full of stuff, leave it there and WALK OUT, my kids in tow, AFTER I paid for ALL her food.Instead, I paid for her remaining groceries. Apologized to her in the parking lot for the lack of COMPASSION they showed her and congratulated her for helping her family by getting WIC for them.For those that DON'T know....WIC is something you have to qualify for, go to appointments (numerous and often) and more!Active duty military families, especially enlisted, do NOT make a lot of money and SACRIFICE their family time, family members, LIVES, living near their loved ones, and SO MUCH MORE (trust me I know I am an active duty military family member). Instead of SHAMING this person for getting WIC, maybe these cashiers should spend their time lobbying Congress so their military families are paid more and can't qualify for WIC! LORD KNOWS THEY DESERVE IT!Most of all, if you don't like your job, QUIT!SHOW COMPASSION to others, not spew hatred.YES, I will write a letter to the owners of this small store!I ENCOURAGE YOU to do the same if this story touched you.It was the Big M in Alexandra Bay, NY. It occurred around 1:47pm today.I think the cashiers name was Sue. It's what was on my receipt. She had mullet reddish/brown straight hair, big bangs, and glasses.I will not be shopping there any longer. I encourage those who live around me to do the same until the problem is addressed!
