Had my first tasting at Black Mesa this weekend. First off it’s a very cute area to hang out and have a glass or a picnic. Nice seating area that is well decorated. The wine itself is fantastic. I loved the great descriptions and the staff was more than happy to explain, they truly seemed to love educating and love wine. We did a tasting which offered 5 wines for $10. There was only one I didn’t love. Great place to stop, especially to get new wine drinkers into the fun.

Highly recommend checking out this location. They have a fantastic selection of ciders and wines and the property is gorgeous. I recommend doing the tasting and taking the walk on their trail around the property. Also a bonus if you're an animal lover, they have cats roaming through the property. :)Can't wait to come back.

The best winery in the area! Super welcoming, great staff and events. Lots and lots of wine to try. You can park your RV overnight. Lots of cute gifts to shop, local made food and art. There is a walking trail around the vineyard and you can see pictographs.

The best winery and cidery in the canyon. The wines and ciders have a haunting aura, so I returned to this place. Love the sultriness of the Northern New Mexico apples, fruits, spices, chiles, and the rustic varieties on the vines. The flavors are subtle with such richness, like an aromatic walk along the Rio Grande. Excellent ciders, now including blackberry basil and prickly pear. Extraordinary wines, also offering a chile sangria. Ambiance and service is over the top. Beautiful petroglyph hike on site. Hope to return soon! Cheers to Sola!

It was a little tricky pulling into Black Mesa since it's right off of a busy two lane highway. I was thankful we were heading north to make pulling in and out a bit easier. But the drive through that canyon on our way from Santa Fe to Taos was worth the stop alone! The hosts were friendly and took time to share stories about how they came to own this lovely vineyard and why this was the perfect spot for them. They also encouraged us to explore the trails on the property and enjoy the ancient petroglyphs. The prickly pear cider probably tasted even better since we could enjoy it under the canopy of flowering trees on their porch while hummingbirds darted all around us.

Stopped in again, everything is still great.Always enjoy a visit. Tasting is $12 but their selection has some high end wines. If you already know which one you like, order a glass. The Pettit Syrah and Bourdeaux are excellent.

We stopped here on the way back from Taos to Santa Fe. Lovely spot of heaven in the middle of the mountains. Did a wine tasting and relaxed after a long day on our feet. The staff were very helpful. I enjoyed the Sangiovese and the Viognier the best, so we bought some bottles. There was also a woman selling tamales outside, so had 2 of those. It was a Friday night so there was a singer outside playing live music. They are open til 7 pm on Friday. We sat at a table in the shade on the patio. Life doesn't get any better than this.

Wow! I am not really into wine but this was one of the highlights of my recent trip to NM! Upon walking in, the energy was great! We had a great time talking with the sweet lady serving us wine. We explored the grounds, the labyrinth, the Petroglyphs, did some tasting, and I fell in love with some of the ciders! I had to buy some to take back to our abnb with us! I may have to get some shipped to me soon! Do yourself a favor and stop by Black Mesa Winery!

We really enjoyed our visit this afternoon. The wine was exceptional, we took an additional bottle home. The guy behind the counter (Craig or Curt - sorry but I forgot) was a really good host. We chatted quite a bit and he gave us a tour of the wine making operation, learned that he was a stunt man in his early years - that was quite interesting. What an easy and pleasant guy to talk to.Great place inside, and a great place to visit.

Fantastic, welcoming! We were greeted by the cat, who I believe is the owner. Staff rushed outside to give our dog water and some treats. We enjoyed the wine tasters and bought a couple bottles. Talked to everyone on the patio and walked away feeling like we’d made new friends.

Well I was naughty I was buying a single bottle of Black Beauty Chocolate flavored wine, a treat for myself that I have been putting off for a long time, when I ran into one of my very dear old Kitty friends and she wholeheartedly agreed that I should buy more. Her human counterpart Alek helped with the tastings, because as we all know cats don't have opposable thumbs but also because she decided to take a nap. Alek was a blessing in disguise today. Although Alek truly made the entire day worth the trip and it was really him that convinced me to buy more because of his amazing knowledge base and sales skills, it was his personable nature that cinched the sale. One of the wine makers, who is also a home goods craftsman who creates amazing and artistic furnishings from recycled wine casks etc... (candle holders, coat racks, tables, etc... which I can't wait to buy when he starts selling them), stopped in and suggested the Chocolate Wine Sauce.Alek also suggested the wine/cider clubs so I signed up and because I bought 6 bottles and became a member I got a 20% discount on my order. He also mentioned that if I wouldn't utilize the club then if I bought a half case (6 bottles) I'd still get 5% discount and 10% discount if I bought a case (12 bottles). After getting out to the car, sitting and waiting for it to warm up, I ended up going back in for a bottle of Chocolate Wine Sauce, just because Alek was so awesome.I look forward to my next trip there.Thank you again Alek!!!P.S. The dessert was made with the Wood Nymph Reisling then the whole thing drizzled with the Black Beauty Chocolate Wine Sauce.

The best, bar none, winery I have ever been to. We did the tasting which is 6 generous pours for $8. The hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. They carried on conversation and joked with us making our trip a fun experience. My wife and I chose two wines we liked, ordered a glass, bought some cheese and meat, and went outside under shade trees and covers to enjoy the view and hummingbirds. There is a small walking trail and labyrinth that you can take your wine with you. At the end, you can keep your cup. I highly recommend.

Easy to find and a great stop of if you are headed to other parts of New Mexico or Colorado.Outdoor seating is comfortable and allows dogs so the winery gets an extra star!Wines were very good so we chose three bottles to enjoy later. There were snacks and pairings for the wines but I thought they could up their game a bit on the selection.Outdoor seating was great. Humming birds everywhere, and as expected, great weather. Check out the pictures and stop by for a sampling.

I did buy wine but three of the wines I asked for were corked. I could see immediate the orange brown tinge. I mentioned this to the server and hoped for a replacement. Didn’t happen. Nice place but check your wines before they are served.

We stopped at Black Mesa Winery on our way from Taos to SanteFe and what a great stop. The views, the quaint outdoor tasting area and of course the wine. We so enjoyed the Huckleberry Cab and had six others shipped. The labels and paw details are so unique on the bottles which shows the personality of the Winery. We enjoyed our Viognier with Lobster and Pasta last night!

Great experience. Curt is awesome. The cider flavors were absolutely delicious. Curt explained all grapes and apples are locally owned & they use a minimal amount of sugar. I loved the blackberry cider and Im not a cider or bear drinker. Thats saying something. This place is located off the side of a mile marker NM 15. This place is great.

Very quaint little vineyard. Try a sampler, sit outside and watch all the hummingbirds. Walk around the property and see the different petroglyphs. The wines are excellent. Had to purchase the Black Beauty. A delicious chocolate wine.

This winery is more than just a winery. We enjoyed the diverse community, the food, the wine, the cider..... And the wine! Someone said drinking good wine with good people causes you to repeat yourself. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The “bartenders” were super informative and helpful and gave suggestions of local places in Santa Fe to eat which were fantastic. Our visit was amazing filled with good conversation and great wine. Would definitely be back! And thank you for the restaurant suggestions. La Choza was a huge hit and a new favorite!

Fantastic wines and ciders, wonderful people, beautiful space. Hummingbirds in spring, lovely colors in fall. Pick n’ stomp is a great time. And Sola the cat is fabulous! A favorite northern NM spot and one I recommend to everyone visiting the Santa Fe or Taos area.
