Wonderful experience in every way! Booked their full day guided fly fishing trip, for myself and a friend. Neither of us had ever fly fished before. Online booking option was definitely easy and helpful. They reached out the night before with all the details and answered our questions. Arrived at the shop, quickly bought our fishing licenses and were fitted for rental gear (wading boots, etc.). Drove just over an hour to the river. Christoph was exceptional as our guide, he picked a perfect spot for us newbies to fish, gave us some great training, and we caught a TON of fish throughout the day. Awesome that we had one guide focused on just the two of us for the whole day. Great lunch and snacks provided as well. These guys are a top notch operation, we'll definitely be back for another guided trip!

Highly, highly, highly recommend Nick Streit's Instinctive Fly Fishing class. If you're a late beginner to intermediate fisherman, this class is the key to up-leveling your techniques and understanding of the water. Dedicating 2.5 days with some of the Shop's top guides helped me really unlock my ability to read the water, and a newfound confidence with my fishing. I've never enjoyed fly fishing more than during and right after completing this course.

My wife & I used Taos Fly Shop for a full day guided trip. Our guide was Christoph. It was every thing we could've wished for. Christoph met up with us and asked what kind of adventure we were up for and took us on a perfect trip to match our needs. Christoph was very knowledgeable on all aspects of fly fishing the waters around Taos, as well as general information and history of the area. You must get a guided trip from these guys if you're trying to fish this region for the first time. Best money I've ever spent.

Biggest fly shop in New Mexico that I've seen. In house flies, guides and practically every supply you need. I didn't see bear spray. They had a lot of maps, books, souvenirs, Simms & Orvis packs and a shop dog! I can't wait to return.

My husband, Chris, and I attended the 3 day fly fishing school and guided fish this weekend with Taos Fly Shop. It was a great weekend and we went from not even really handling a fly rod to catching river trout in 2 days. Nick is a tremendously experienced guide who shared helpful tips for success. Instructors and guides, Christoph and Emily, were equally knowledgeable and helpful to these two inexperienced fly fishers and their patience with our boo-boos on the water truly reflected their professionalism. We will definitely be back to Taos and the Taos Fly Shop for other guided trips and classes as well as to shop for gear and supplies. Thanks for everything and we will catch you on the fly!!

These guys are my favorite. Pretty excited about my new Echo glass rod. Went in for a small stream and rod the owner took me outside and let me cast on a few to get a feel for the right one. We always check in with them before heading out to the river. I've bought everything from a new rod, wading socks, shoes, extra supplies, and of course flies and its a great experience everytime.

Just did a full day on the Cimarron in the pouring rain and had an amazing time with our very informative and patient guide Kyle! We caught so many rainbows that we didn’t want to stop fishing even though we were freezing😊

Absolutely, Hands Down the Best!!!My husband picked up fly fishing a while back and it looked interesting but I didn’t want to try it myself on his expensive rod. Unbeknownst to me, he booked us a full day guided trip. I was so excited when I found out several months later. It was a surprise anniversary trip. We met Sebastian early in the morning and headed out to Cimarron Canyon. Sebastian spent teaching me three different ways to cast the line and gave me lots of tips that would make me better. He is so patient and helpful and he gets so excited when you catch a fish. He also doesn’t mind retrieving the line that gets cast into trees. We killed it out there and we lost count but it was a butt load. Thank you Sebastian for making our experience so exciting. I am a fly fisher-woman for life.

My wife and I had an awesome fishing trip with Blake today! He was very entertaining. We caught over 30 bass with 4 double hookups! The scenery was incredible. We saw a beaver, osprey, and multiple ducks. Also a petroglyph. One of the best fishing trips we’ve ever had! Book a trip with Blake for a great time!

My experience at this store was great! The shop staff conversed with me about what locations and flies to buy and try. Excellent fishing report. It was very helpful as I am not from the area. I enjoyed that that shop had women working as well.

After some lack luster fishing with my family, I decided to shell out some money and hire a guide. The person who took my call was very helpful in booking the trip and covered all the bases. The guide Jason called the night before and discussed the upcoming trip. It was myself and my eleven year old son. Jason was ready and waiting when we arrived, and off we went. I'm a bit shy myself, but felt very at ease with Jason. He quickly earned my trust, and after a little instruction, I had no concerns about leaving my son out of sight with Jason while fishing a different hole. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and trustworthy. He even worked some general education into the trip which I appreciated. There's never any guarantee of catching fish, but us two beginners came out with some pretty decent catches. I would highly recommend Taos Fly Shop for your guide services.

My dad and I went out for the day with one of the guides Ron. We are pretty inexperienced and he was amazing. He took us to several places on the Red and Rio Grand and helped us land a bunch of nice rainbow, cutbow, and brown trout. He kept tying on a ton of different fly combinations until we found something that worked. He was very friendly and patient with us. We had such a good time after the first trip that we ended up going out with him for two more days on different parts of the river and did great there too.

Rented a wet wading set up and rod/reel for a day fishing. Easy to do, not too expensive, friendly guys working there. Easy pick up, easy return. Got some fishing advice too.

The retail store is outstanding. Friendly and helpful staff with reasonable prices. We purchased gear for my wife and took a guided trip with Andy Konash. The trip was outstanding. My wife has never fly fished and he was extremely helpful. I have balance issues and Andy kept me from falling a couple times and was just so patient. Take a guided fishing trip and definitely ask for Andy by name.

My wife and I booked a full day trip with the shop during our honeymoon last week. Nick was awesome to work with and the shop had everything a fly fisherman would want. The guided trip was amazing and Chris, our guide was sensational. Chris was so patient and knowledgeable during our hike and the time on the water. He was also extremely thoughtful and brought hand soaps, sanitizer and a well prepared lunch. This was just the best experience for my husband and myself. Christopher and Nick were amazing! Not only did they put together exactly what we needed, they didn't try to get us to spend more than we were comfortable with. They were beyond knowledgeable, incredible friendly, and even put us in contact with some other people after finding out we'd just moved to the area. Whenever I am in the area, I stop by and whatever I need they have. Always check with them to ask about what stream you are fishing and what they have for flies in that stream. Not only do they have it for any stream, but this can mean the difference between a day of tight lines or walking with a rod in hand.

My boyfriend and I used TFS for our first ever guided fly fishing trip. Our guide, Sebastian, was the absolute best. He quickly gave us lessons on our equipment and put us on the fish. The first 90 minutes almost every cast landed a fish. The shop itself had lots to choose from and they were super nice and friendly.

Had a full day float on the Rio Grande with Ron Sedall as our guide. It was a great day. This guy really knows the river. He put us on a bunch of tough to find fish and was a super fun guide. The other guys working in the fly shop were really friendly, knowledgeable of local fishing spots, and extremely helpful as well. They made it really easy to get a trip organized. Easy for me to highly recommend Taos Fly Shop to anyone looking to fish the area.

I fished with Jason on 7/12 and had a great trip. We met at the shop and everyone there was friendly and enthusiastic. Jason asked me some questions about skill level, etc. and put together a trip tailored for me. We went to Valle Vidal and he was very patient working on my techniques and he really helped me improve as a fly fisherman, and we also caught lots of fish. Highly recommended.

Fantastic shop with a great selection of fine fly fishing products! The local fishing info is second to none. Nick has literally grown up in Taos and knows everything from the big rivers to the tiny creeks that run throughout northern New Mexico. If you are travelling to fish the area, this fly shop needs to be on your list of places to visit!

We debated getting a guide on this trip to Taos, but did it and it paid off! Booked all day with Ian as our guide and although young he is an old soul. He was patient, knew his water and pointed us to great fishing. With his teaching we were able to fish again the next day by ourselves in another section of the Rio Grand with fantastic results.Thank you Ian from Paul and Glen.
