This is the feel good coffee shop you will love to visit over and over. I haven’t tried their food yet but definitely will. Their beverages are made with love and are delicious. Alternative milks are their norm. A sweet little pup there is so friendly and kind and will make you feel right at home. Headed back this morning! ☕️ Dietary restrictions: Very non-dairy friendly

Me and my partner stayed down the street from this amazingly comic little shop. Perfect for a morning brew and mushrooms with all kinds of add onsDefinitely my kind of shop. The woman running the place was very kind and helpful and the drinks she recommended were delicious.I got to hang out for a couple of hours just enjoying the people, the animals and the smells from the shop. Checked out some of there reading material aswell.I love a great shop with some interesting literature. They even seamed to support local artist. I am looking forward to coming back here again. ❤️❤️❤️

Such a cozy curation of atmosphere and the menu is unique with lots of medicinal benefits. Love the cacao bliss and adding on the ✨️shroom mix✨️ (reishi, lions mane, chaga)! Quite the authentic crew of huemans running the cafe, and talented musicians that play throughout the week, especially Sundays and jazz night! Plugs for computer work too!

(Kitchen open until 2pm) Immediately upon entering you feel relaxed. It was the perfect start to this experience. I ordered a house brew and the Sunrise Sammie (vegan). Alternative milk didn't cost extra which was a huge plus and there was a vegan option for almost everything including the baked goods!. The sandwich was amazing. The tempeh was cooked to perfection and the garlic dill hemp spread could easily be eaten alone, by the spoonful. What a great brunch location. Love this place, will be back many times.

Have been trying to give this local? business a try over the last couple of months, a coffee shop that opens only 4 days a week and inconsistent even with these limited hours.Seems like getting the temperature correct is even a little too tall a task for these girls. Was very much looking forward to supporting a near by establishment...however it has just not been worthy of my dollars or my effort, even to show up!Sad☹ They seem as though they would be better suited taking a yoga class rather than being available for even an adaquate amount of customer service....leaving much to be desired toooooo bad indeed.......!If good service is in order better & easier to find it elsewhere...after all this entire Town is only a few mile stretch. It feels as though they don't appreciate my business, so I will be taking it elsewhereGood luck hitting a real home run! Knock it out of the park! seems even like offering tasty snacks is a little above the skill level here...better try La Fonda on the "broken" plaza, at least the staff is enthusiastic....really makes a difference

This place is incredible! The beauty, the energy, the food and drinks are all so healing. Lacy was a wonderful soul to interact with and she made us delicious concoctions. We highly recommend the Kava Coco and the Shepard pie ;)

Cozy new location in Rancho de Taos. Vibrant colors. Relaxing environment. Excellent coffee and non-coffee options. Non dairy milks including almond and oat. Vegan and vegetarian food options, including a delicious green chile quiche and other baked goods. Outdoor patio with plenty of room to spread out. Great place to meet a friend or take a book.

What a magical afternoon soaking up the good vibes of Mountain Monk. We expected to have a cup of coffee and leave. Instead, we stayed for a second round to enjoy an amazing musician who played beautiful jazz this afternoon. I truly haven't had a more special and relaxing experience in a long time. Everything was yummy, but the yogi coffee was my favorite. Like a great big creamy warm hug in a cup. The owner was very kind and accommodating as we have some medical dietary issues. The final highlight was a tiny dog dressed as a banana who ran in and immediately jumped in my husband's lap. We will definitely be back to soak in more good vibes and good drinks.

I grew up in the 1960's in the San Francisco Bay Area. After college, I left California, joined the corporate world and regrettably never looked back until my wife and I chanced upon Mountain Monk last Saturday. A short coffee & pastry stop turned into a time warp as we listened to the mellow live music, met other guests and took in the cool shade next to the campfire. A small dog dressed as a banana greeted us and the owner was friendly, gracious and hospitable. It was a magical moment that we did not want to leave. We will definitely come back. Thanks for bringing us "back to the Garden" (lyric from Joni Mitchell's Woodstock).Parking: I was able to park my restored 1989 Suzuki Sidekick under a big shady tree!

What a great place! Locally owned and operated. Very friendly staff. Beautiful redesign from the old drab SBUX featuring local artists. The espresso is great. Will be back to try the other cafe items as well.

Honestly, flimsy cups, basic over-priced coffee, with no coffee lids... It's that typical rustic, hippie-style coffee house with no real character. It's trying too hard to look "unique" but really has no genuine vibes. But I will come back because it has bathrooms.

Super chill. I’ll be spending more time here. It’s a great space in Ranchos. I freaking love the responses to the toxic reviews and have a bunch of respect for how this company meets the earth that we are all on trying to keep her alive with the respect and dignity that she deserves. Thank you for not adding to the capitalistic malarkey which we all force feed ourselves on until we become sick and seek a new way of being. This place is f-r-e-s-h

*Update to review* In response to Mountain Monk’s response, this last visit occurred Labor Day weekend, not a few days ago.I’d like to preface this with the fact that I DO NOT like to give negative reviews. However, this is based on a few visits, and every visit was the same vibe. This is not a friendly place at all. We’ve given it two tries, my daughter has visited once. The first time, the owner was very stand offish, but we chalked it up to a quiet personality; I’m quiet, I get that. My daughter had the same experience, her’s more so on the verge of rudeness. This last time, the owner was flat out rude to my husband. Our drinks sitting on the counter, the owner walked over and my husband thought she was going to grab them, and so he told her those were ours (nicely), she replied with a snippy, annoyed, “yes?” The kicker is when you walk into the place, it’s obvious the owner is trying to project an air of positivity, peace, kindness, love one another, yada, yada, you get the picture; while all I get is a pretentious vibe from her. The one star is for the young girl that made our drinks, she was sweet, though the drinks weren’t that great. Oh, and she can keep her response to this to herself, as I noticed she only takes the time to respond to negative reviews. Why doesn’t she try taking some of that “gratitude” she projects and extend it to the positive reviews she has received instead. Needless to say, won’t be back.

What the owner has done with the space is magical and fantastic. It's inviting, relaxing and warm. Love sitting in the courtyard drinking a wild mystical concoction with wild mushrooms in it. The baked goods are out of this world. Good to see better options outside of Taos proper .For all the naysayers on here complaining about service I'm not sure you understand the challenges it takes to keep a place like this open for locals. It's a lot of work and hard to keep good employees. I can tolerate some slowness and imperfection in my life for folks who show up like this for Rancho De Taos. You should aspire to accept this place too.Keep it going Mountain Monk!!!

Should have left once we saw the 45 dollar t-shirt. This woman acted like working here was the absolute last thing she wanted to do at the time. Our order took a half an hour with no one else there. Overpriced and run by rude, angsty 20 somethings
