I've been shopping here for a few months, and while the store itself has a decent stock of items and is clean, it is overpriced.The staff have gotten increasingly unfriendly of late, and I am nothing but polite. It is inappropriate and entirely unprofessional to loudly complain in expletives about your manager when nearby customers.I was also shocked to find out, after shopping here for months, that there is a discount and coupon app.I will, however, continue to shop here because I'd rather support them than Walmart. Hopefully it gets better or another grocery opens up in town.EDIT: I've gone from two stars to one because I have been routinely finding expired merchandise on the shelves.

I wish I could give a solid 5 star. The staff are great. The store is well stocked and kept very neat/clean. The big issue is the crazy markup on goods.

Customer service and the cashier were very welcoming, friendly, helpful and nice. Check outs were both fast and easy. I recommend John Brooks over Walmart ANY DAY!!!

John Brooks is interesting. On the one hand, it does a lot of things better than Walmart, the only other grocery store in town. They have a bigger selection of individual brands, local coffees and cheeses, and more organic shelf items. On the other hand, it’s way more expensive and they’re lacking an organic selection where it actually matters- in milk, eggs, or meat. If they added that, I would give them a 5/5 for sure.

John Brooks is the definitive local market. The only place in Socorro where you can find quality and homemade donuts, freshly baked pizza and all the clerks know your name AND are eager to help.

Nice grocery store. A bit more expensive than Wal-Mart for some things but far more pleasant and cleaner with a better selection of more interesting items. Let's face it, produce in Socorro simply sucks - it's the town the jolly green giant abandoned- but Brooks does a good job with what they have. They have a little section of organic produce but it's more than Wal-Mart offers ( UPDATE, TBF, Walmart is now offering more oregano job and vegan choices). John Brooks has a decent vegan selection. They also have an excellent cheese selection for those who enjoy that. The bakery is good, the sales are usually excellent, the shelves are always stocked, and the wine and liquor department is great as far as selection. Prices are a bit higher than Walmart unless there is a sale but the selection is greater. The staff is super friendly and helpful.My advice is to shop the sales at both Walmart and John Brooks if price is a consideration. If not, I would definitely do John Brooks.

It's amazing how well stocked this store is. I'm able to get almost everything I used to buy when I lived in Albuquerque, often at a better price. The vegetable section gets a little tired every now and then, but, overall, John Brooks is a valuable resource for locals, and the employees are awesome!

John Brooks has real butchers; men in butchers jackets who operate saws and knives, cutting meat. You can get a specific cut and thickness of steak, bone, or organ. There's no competition here for that.

VERY impressed with this grocery store! Extremely well organized, neat and very clean. It's obvious that employees work hard. Good variety of items, prices reasonable. Employees welcoming and friendly. Easy in and out parking. On a side note(not a criticism), store is carpeted! And it's very clean. Looks great.

The management treats employees like trash, will make up lies about employees, won't let them take breaks all the time. Horrible atmosphere, they don't understand their employees are what keep them going. John Brooks treat your employees better!!

This supermarket is not bad at all. There is a bakery; a deli; a pharmacy; also a Western Union. There is also a butcher so the meats are always fresh. Well every worker I had a question for was eager to answer and most importantly had the correct answer. Some of the locals actually call John Brook's "the supermart". The store is well kept and always clean and follow all conditions related mandates. I do highly recommend stopping here for your needs.

Good deli for cheap hot lunch. One guy who has worked there for years is super friendly and helpful, always with a smile.Lots of veggies, can find organic food and soaps. Yummy donuts and fast service. I wish the bathroom was nicer, it's kind of yukky.Some checkers sometimes lacking in friendly customer service skills. But overall a good store to visit.Oh, parking is cramped. Now that I think about it, they used to offer to take you're groceries out for you. I don't think they've offered for me in a few years now.

No lines to get in here during this different time. I love that they have some organic produce, decent cheese selection and like magic a nice frozen fish selection because I like fish but don’t like it going bad. They unload your cart for you at checkout. For now masks are mandatory, so be it.

This used to be my place to shop. The prices have become unreasonable. I used to get fried chicken from there deli 2 times a week. They are now selling 12 tiny pieces of chicken for $25.99. You can get a whole meal at KFC or churches for that. My go to store is a thing of the past. Not even a pharmacy and more. You can't support a local businesses when they don't support you.
