The park is clean and peaceful. What a plus to be treated to so many animals. The views were amazing. Check in was easy and Rusty was helpful with tips during check in and even while making reservations! Tim was very generous answering questions as he fed the animals. Appreciate the heads up on when to show up to best see those porcupines!

Great accommodations, very quiet and serene. I enjoyed the time I spent there. If you get a chance to visit the rooster in the goat pen, please do! He gets so excited when he sees people coming. The aviary is beautiful as well as the pond. Somehow the wifi there is better than it is in some of the more populated cities. Can't really ask for much more in the middle of the desert!

Had a bit of a weird conversation with another guest while I was walking around with my kids. They have a pool (closed when we passed through) and animals! The kids loved the mini zoo experience. It was so dark it was insane! The bath house and the lounge were amazing. If you are staying for longer than a night it's probably really cool to go to the potluck and other events.

Stayed there for two weeks about 7 or 8 years ago …. At that time every RV spot was in 1/4 acre… now they are divided in half but still large …. People there are wonderful and if you like the night sky and astronomy this place is for you!

We stayed at Rusty's for four nights. Great jumping off point for hiking/birding. The staff here are very helpful and very friendly. We could not get a site with hookups so we spent our four nights dry camping. We did need to run our generator for heat and our 12 volt fridge, which was fine. We ran it for an hour in the a.m. and an hour in the evening. Very quiet here and dark. Full moon during our stay. Also great if you are in to astronomy. We paid $19/night which we thought was high for a spot in the dirt. No picnic table. We did however use their laundry facility and their dump station upon leaving.

Do not be dissuaded by the detour away from I10. The drive is beautiful and worth it. The campground is amazing. Postcard views in every direction. The friendliest hosts and manicured sites with paved fire pits. Full Galaxy view in the night sky due to the lack of light pollution in the area. Trails accessable from the park. Our stop here was intended as a restful overnight on our way to Tucson from FL but now we are considering this place as a destination all to itself. Can't wait to return...

Although it's location is remote, we thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The owner has spent a lot of time, effort, and money fixing this place up. We loved the koi pond area with a lovely waterfall, its menagerie of birds, porcupines, and relaxing, shady walkways. We also enjoyed feeding the two black swans which were in a large pond surrounding an island; and had fun watching the goats play in their large enclosure. There was also a nice swimming pool and club house. Sites for RVs were huge and quite a few trees did provide some shade. Rodeo and Portal were not far away and the beautiful Chiricahua mountains were only a short drive west.

Enjoyed our stay at Rusty's RV Ranch. Most sites are "shared" in that rigs utilize the same access drive but in opposite directions, yet they are spaced out, so it doesn't feel like you're right on top of your neighbor. There is plenty of room to walk your dog, although when we were there in early March we had to check our dog's paws for sharp tri-cornered seeds (as well as our shoes) that were common on the ground. Not Rusty's fault, it is just the nature of the area. The RV Ranch is convenient to the Cave Creek Canyon area. It is also a great place to go for "dark skies". The staff is friendly and helpful.

My husband and I absolutely loved this place!!! We ended up here after we just started full-timing, and all of our state park reservations had been canceled due to COVID-19. We stayed a total of 3 months and enjoyed every minute of it! There are breathtaking 360 views all around. I really enjoyed our huge RV space, seeing all of the stars at night, the big hot tub, using the laundry room and running on the dirt path that goes around the entire Ranch. Our site was very quiet and peaceful. They also have a little store and a bunch of DVD’s you can rent inside the office. Rusty, the staff and all of the other guests were super friendly. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful!

Update - we went back to Rusty’s last week and all of the previous review stands - it’s a great place, Rusty is awesome and the folks that stay in the campground are great. Rusty has built two new bathrooms with showers, nice and big, plenty of hot water. She understands her customers and does so much to make her place work for us.Previous review below:We have seen a lot of RV campgrounds and we love this place (and the people). Rusty and her team have created an oasis with access to all the best this amazing area has to offer. Interested in birding, hunting, astronomy, access to the the mountains and Portal? This is it! Rusty knows the ins and outs of the area and can help you have the best experience possible, the inside/local knowledge is so worth it. The facility is laid out very well, not stacked on top of each other, easy access, secure, clean, awesome clubhouse and places to hangout with sitting areas all over. Great Wi-Fi, great cell phone for us (AT&T, 4 bar LTE), a dog run area, very clean laundry and restrooms, a great trail that goes around the property plus birds everywhere. This area is off the beaten path but we were blown away about what it has to offer.

What a gem. We enjoyed our stay. We would have liked to return to spend the winter but it was booked. Will plan further in advance next time. The fees are amazing. Park is clean and everyone is so welcoming.

The owners are wonderful. If you are in the area you won't want to miss this spot for the quiet night skies, these dark skies are great for serious astronomers and stargazers just out to enjoy the view. Absolutely stunning views of the Chiricahua and Peloncillo Mountains. The spaces are 200ft long, the clubhouse is open to guests 24hrs a day complete with kitchenette, shower/bathroom. There are movies, books and games. A lovely aviary with seating and a water feature. There is ample seating on the clubhouse porch. A large dog run is on site as well. You find a lovely walking path around the entire park with a pass right by the duck pond. Rusty & Tim are gracious hosts that are more than happy to help you identify the wildlife or point out the local treasures. If you plan on staying for a while just know that the closest grocery store is in Douglas, Arizona about an hour away. There is a small store in Rodeo for some basics.

We cannot believe how awesome this place is!! Rusty is a very friendly owner/host! David was very accommodating in showing us our site. It is a dark community so the sky at nite was amazing!!! Plus she's got her own small zoo😊 we will definitely be back to stay longer

The woman who owns this place has serious control issues. She will fake smile at you and pretend to be all sweet, but Lord, the judgment and gossip she can spread! She will make sure that everyone there will know all about your business. God Forbid you should put something in the "wrong" place or use the "wrong" word to describe something to her, or mention that you have a legitimate issue with *anything* there at all and she will snip at you, argue with you and give you the cold shoulder --- and then all the other women there will ice you out too because she will tell everyone all about you. Once I saw her be mean to an elderly man she didn't like, she was so nasty to him! My hub and I stayed in one of the cabins there awhile back and it was dusty and filthy. No one had done a decent clean of it in months. My allergies went haywire there, it was awful. So many other nice places to go in AZ or NM... avoid this place and her at all costs!

We absolutely loved staying at Rusty’s! Easy pull thru spaces big enough for any rig. A fire ring and picnic table at each spot. 360 views of the mountains. About an hour drive to hiking in the Coronado National Forest or Chiricahua (cheer-uh-cow-uh) Mountains. Beautiful sunsets every day and dark skies for star gazing at night. Little slice of paradise away from big cities. Would love to stay there again.

The longer we stayed the more we loved it. Quiet, big spaces, and great people. We will be back. Good for bird watching, star and sky watching, and hiking close to park. Warning, warning bring supplies. Closest gas 14 miles. No good market but a couple restaurant kind of close. Still great place to relax.

Incredible campsite. Friendly owners and staff. Great rec room with full kitchen, posh shower and massive TV. Biggest hot tub we've ever seen. Popular stargazing spot and amazing bird watching. Only $15 for tents!!! We extended our stay and we're sad to leave.

A great RV Park. We had a 2 nights stay, wanted three but demand was high. Rusty and Tim run a very good RV park. They are very receptive and keep the Park in top notch order. This place is very handy to Chiricahua National Monument and many hiking trails- I suggest Greenhouse Trek. A great place for star gazers and bird watchers. Though only one washroom / shower, it is clean and comfortable. The clubhouse is 24/7 and has great TV and wifi throughout the park is excellent. Friday night is Pot Luck and wonderful to meet other travellers and snow birds. Just 4 miles down the road is a very nice museum/ reptile exhibit- a must !I highly recommend but book early...

Really long long pull-through sights excellent for anybody with a long trailer! No one hooking required. Great walking trails which are well groomed. Really nice pond for sitting and relaxing. (Yes a pond in the middle of a desert!) Just be sure you keep them on leash which are Loki wasn't all that happy with as you can see. All this land and they can't open up and run. :) Good thing there was a good dog park however! Wi-Fi work really well though is limited in speed based on where we are in the middle of nowhere. (Limited by design mind you which is a good idea. That way everyone can use it.) AT&T just put up a new tower, so if you have an AT&T phone or jetpack your data will fly! If you're looking for a very peaceful place to stay, this is it! Quiet comfortable and this night skies are amazing.

Very quiet RV park with a very friendly and helpful staff. Bird viewing areas all around the area and very dark night skies. Plenty of hiking in nearby beautiful Cave Canyon.Park is very clean and has a comfortable club house that provides a place to sit by a fire, shower or eat a meal. Wifi signal was fairly good all over.Would definitely return for another stay.

Rusty’s RV Ranch, just outside of Rodeo NM, provides great access to the Chiracahua Desert Museum and the east side of the Chiracahua Mountains. You can drive over the mountains to the Chiracahua National Monument, however, unless you have a high clearance vehicle, you are likely well advised to drive around on the pavement. It is about 1.5 hours either way.The pull thru lots at Rusty’s are the longest that we have ever encountered. Ours was well over 100’ in length. The sewer connection was good (no odour), the 50 amp power was reliable and the water was reliable, although at times a bit lacking in pressure. The park wi-fi was generally pretty good, although it did depend on where you were in the park. The sites have tiled patios, a picnic table and really nice fire pits, which are bordered and built up with volcanic rock. While there we experienced a couple of days of fairly heavy rain. We have a heavy Super C and found that our levelling legs began to sink into the ground, even with extra large foot pads and additional matting. Two nights a week Rusty’s hosts Park get togethers over dinner; Taco Tuesdays and a variable meal on Fridays. The cost is $2 plus a Pot Luck item. The entrees were great and it provided an excellent opportunity to meet others in the Park for and extremely low price. There is a great pond with a variety of waterfowl plus a few cages with various birds. The Clubhouse is open for use 24/7.The sunsets can be glorious. There is a Park store with some basic items, however if you need food or fuel you will have to drive about 20 minutes and a major shopping trip would require a drive of about an hour, so stock up the pantry and the bar before you go.

It's great if you're a ballgazer, or a bird watcher.. but if you move here, and try to establish residency and homestead, and live in tents for 5 months, and get decimated by the winds and the rains. And actually go to crusties campground and spend money and try to take a shower,. You will be told to move on because them rednecks don't need your money.... Very waspy and rude behind your back... But very accommodating if you have money money

Absolutely beautiful location, isolated, peaceful, and serene. Large lots with privacy. Full hook-ups and steady internet. Verizon cell was a couple bars, 3G, but mostly ok. No AT&T or T-Mobile. Beautiful night skies and birds galore. Our cats stayed in the windows watching the birds and bunnies! Lots to see in the area or just vegetate!

This is a great hideout in the middle of nowhere. The RV sites are huge, with sweeping views of mountains on all sides. Fun amenities like pot luck suppers, a huge hot tub, great internet, and bird feeders for the birders. The hosts are very gracious and extremely helpful. The only less than perfect aspect is that the wind kicks up the dust. In season, reservations are needed.

This is a great place to sit around a fire and read lots of books! I also brought my two dogs and the park has trails to take them on. The park is beautiful and the hosts were very kind. Only downfall is it is far from everything. Douglas is the best town to go to get groceries and such, but is almost a 100-mile round trip. Lordsburg is a bit closer but not much there. Cordonado national Forest not to far away but most of the hiking trails were closed. The closest gas station was about 15-20 miles in Animes. They have a GREAT HARDWARE STORE but little else. AT&T service is not good. No service except one small corner of the park I got one bar on my phone. The internet was great, but cannot steam videos and there is no TV air channels at all. If you love to just be quiet, this place is for you! I was told Verizon works there, just not AT&T for now. Spent ~ $150 for a week plus an extra $20 for electricity when we left. It got pretty chilly at night. Would definitely recommend for people that like staying put and enjoys peace and quiet.
