Enjoying our stay. We loved the kitchen, having silverware, plates, freezer/fridge, microwave. I really enjoyed the rooms. We have a lake house that has the same wood walls so we really felt at home and relaxed. Rooms were very clean. Other reviews complained about the rooms. I believe there would be a certain charm lost if overly updated.

We stayed at Ponderosa lodge this past weekend. We were sadly disappointed in the room overall. The bathroom was gross. There was hair stuck in the drain of the tub, hair on the side of the tub with blood spattered on the outside. Our toilet was very slow to flush, until about 9pm when it decided it didn’t want to flush at all. The interior door that connects it to the room next to ours was open and extremely hard to close and lock. The amount of people stepping right outside their rooms to smoke was awful also. You couldn’t go up or down the stairs without hitting a cloud of smoke. It does have a great location in town.

For 200 bucks, the rooms are very dated. Not in a good way. We needed two beds but they gave us a bed with a futon. The futon was screwed closed so it didn't make out to a bed. All of the furniture was in poor shape. It was very warm with no AC. There was a box fan that would not stand up on its own. You had to lean it against something. With the window open, I listened to people blabbing out in the back until past 1am.There was a room beside us with two beds that was never occupied. (The curtains were open) We were told ours was the last room.I'm glad we took off the next day.The TV was very good. Very clear picture. The back of the remote was missing. The room was clean.

My daughter and I needed a warm and clean place to stay after a camping fail….the management was so NICE and waited for us to drive up from our campsite that was well over 20 minutes away. It was a late night call. They should have been gone for the evening but they answered the phone, and waited up for us. They gave us a newly updated and very clean room. So happy we stayed!Rooms: Clean and updatedSafety: Felt very safeWalkability: So close to everythingFood & drinks: Restaurants near by were great

Old in a never updated, desperately needs it way, even for a budget. Don't stay on the ground floor. You hear every footstep, drop of water drawn or used, cough and word louder than a whisper. We barely slept. Only stayed due to car trouble in the 1st place. Even as a place to flop it fails.Walkability: Center of town.

I’ve stayed here for the past 34 years. Super friendly and helpful staff, great location in the center of town, plenty of parking in and around, and for the price, great amenities. A little dated inside, but reno will be coming soon I was told. Anyways, who actually comes to Red River to stay inside their room?!?!Looking forward to seeing where the new ownership takes this place as it has a lot going for it!

This place was pretty nice in the early 70s, everything‘s the same now and very dated and falling apart. $200 a night for 70s carpet and wore out beds with no air-conditioning. They offered me a box fan. What a waste of time and did not get any rest I would’ve done better sleeping in my truck

The neighbors were exceptionally loud through the paper thin walls until about 3:30 AM yelling, laughing and having a party. The bed was horrible and when we finally did get to sleep woke up frequently uncomfortable. No ac but they did provide a fan that was loud enough to drown out some of the neighbors noise. No fridge.Nearby activities: Tram, food and drinks, horseback riding, zip line, fishing.Walkability: You can walk almost anywhere. Very nice location.

The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because of the location and the fireplace inside..With the price that I paid per night, you would think they would at least have better carpet and beds.If nothing else, at least put in lots of insulation in the walls and the ceiling.Heard the people above me have a domestic altercation and then heard them having “happy time” at 5am.. I thought their bed was going to fall through the ceiling😧..The fridge and sink were helpful amenities to have. The fireplace was a great feature also. The location was easy to get to and convenient when walking around town.All in all, I don’t think I’ll be going back to this place.

At almost $200 per night it was a little off putting that they require you to take out your own trash. They do not have a cleaning service and charge extra for trash removal or cleaning, while this is customary for Airbnb‘a it is not for hotels which is why we chose a hotel in the first place. Additionally they outdoor area is a little overgrown and small. Parking lot is gravel so it wasn’t great for a motorcycle trip.

The parking is horrible if you don’t get back to your room early you will be parking on the road. The bottom floor was a huge mistake because the people above us sounded like they were coming through the ceiling! I informed the rental people but it didn’t help. The bath tub leaked all night and not just a slow drip I’m talking a steady stream! The hotel is very outdated and old. I will never stay here again.

Nice looking place. Made a request for a ground floor room since we had my handicapped mother along, no dice, its second floor and contactless check-in means no one to talk to. Add to that beds that were hard as a rock, really not a great experience.***Update*** It was made via booking.com. If the request was made during booking, then why do we need to contact again, if thats an issue with booking.com, then you have an issue with that vendor not helping your business image. Lets add that the window is cracked and taped over.

Old, smells horrible, NO AIR conditioning, and definitely NOT WORTH $95.00 per night. If you need handicap access this is definitely not the place. I saw no ramps onto the sidewalks and the rooms were too small for a wheelchair anywhere near the bathroom. Please take the time to shop around because there are plenty of other hotels, motels, and lodges here in Red River, NM. After reading some of the other reviews I would definitely make a guess definitely make a guess that that the owners wrote them. I cannot stress I cannot stress enough for you to shop around and if you don't trust my review, please ask to see the rooms BEFORE you pay for anything.

Honestly it's not bad if you plan to stay out for most of the day. But things that went on my list that made this place not preferable are the lack of fridge or microwave, having no pool, and only a hot tub which closes at 8:00, hence losing the purpose of getting in the hot tub when the weather cools down. No breakfast, needs major updating and also service quality in terms of cleaning services is sub-par. However, location is great and owner/manager is nice.

It was like starring in a horror movie. Management was so unprofessional. The recently repaired hot tub was over chlorinated. After about 3 minutes in we had to evacuate. The evening desk clerk agreed that the chlorine fumes were bad and had to open the doors and windows. My 10 year old daughter was having a reaction so paramedics were called out at my insistence. When the manager came on site the office clerk changed her tune. The manager's actions were implying that I was making it all up. She had no concern for my daughter's well being. She had the maintenance man check the levels and "of course they were fine". She stated that he even drank the water. What an idiot. We left at 9 pm and had to find somewhere else to stay before driving back 700 miles the next day. We were staying an additional night after spending 5 nights at a different establishment. Fortunately we found a fabulous room in Eagles Nest at the Laguna Vista Lodge. Called the owner who lives in Texas, and he was not concerned. He agreed with his manager and could not give reason as to why I would fake such an incident. Typical business owner, no concern for customer and no accountability. Exactly the response I expected from the owner.

The Ponderosa Lodge has treated us the best! Our original rental was not available and the Ponderosa was extremely helpful and understanding to our situation. They made available to us a great room with a kitchen and fireplace. They are centrally located in the town and walking distance to almost everything. They guided us to the right restaurants, ski rentals, bars and all the Mardi Gras Festivities. The hot tub topped off this experience and I will gladly return. Dog friendly!Angela & Jeff were really professional but even better understood our situation and worked out the very best scenario for us. I am the type of traveler that will return solely based upon this type of service and people like this that give this establishment a solid reputation.Jeff Simpson

Didn’t meet our expectations. It said there was a hot tub. Nope. Google says it has hot tub and sauna. See screenshot. No AC. Neighboring units seem to have it. Lock missing on door. Big gaps in screens. CO2 and smoke detectors disconnected. See photos. Lots of rules. Can’t use fireplace. Shower faucet doesn’t turn off.

This is the most coziest lodge I have ever stayed in. It had everything one would need. And the owners are the best. They made sure we had everything we needed. Make sure you meet Cozmo the dog. This place will be the only place we will stay in Red River. Thanks for making our weekend PERFECT!!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!! We stayed couple weeks ago, and it was during a bad blizzard storm- power went out, the snow had my vehicle stuck, it was wild! But Angela & Jeff were so amazing! they checked in on us, brought us anything we needed during the storm. They helped me dig my car out the snow, severaaaal times lol!! really nice people, even though we were stuck it was still fun, we had a good time. So thank you both for your wonderful personalities and hospitality!! We will be back soon!!

A cute retro/vintage lodge that offers great in-room amenities (full kitchen, separate bedroom, full size futon in living room, and lovely fireplaces, accompanied by Dish Network on flat screen tvs). But what really makes the place great are the managers - Jeff and Angela and the rest of the staff, super friendly and helpful, they'll tell you everything you need to know to make the most of your trip to the Enchanted Circle.

The staff at Ponderosa is awesome. They are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and accommodating to even the most bizarre of needs. The rooms are clean and roomy, and the location is perfect for enjoying time with family while in Red River.

Pet friendly. Clean room with a comfortable bed. Great location in the city. Within walking distance to everything. Management is extremely helpful & friendly. I highly recommend this location if you are looking for a reasonably priced, clean motel room.
