This is by far our favorite place to stay in Red River and we have stayed a lot of places! It’s always incredibly clean. Check in is a breeze. It’s right off the Main Street and walking distance to our favorite coffee at Steam!!! They have rooms of all sizes. They even have an entire house to fit when we go down with my entire family. We always choose the rooms with a full kitchen, and it is AMAZING. Definitely book your stay here! You won’t be disappointed!!!!

The location was the best part of this house! A wonderful view of "the face". It was very spacious. Loved having 5 rooms to sleep in and 3 bathrooms. The house is old and the floors creek. It was not clean. Lots of dirt on the floor. Fireplace had ashes and burnt wood in it. Roof leaked in one of the rooms. What I disliked the most was not being able to contact the owner's by phone and response by text was not returned quickly.

We stayed there last week . The location was excellent. We were within easy walking distance of lots of Red River attractions. The lodge was clean, well kept. The amenities well thought out. The shampoos and body wash were a pleasant touch. Towels were clean and fluffy with makeup remover provided. Someone is doing a lot of guest consideration. The small pond and fire pit area gives the impression of not being in town as much. I’d stay again and recommend to others. The discount at Steam coffee shop was used daily almost. I miss their coffees and baked goods.

This place had no visible signage from the street. I passed it twice. Found my room which was in the back , pretty dark, and up a very long staircase. I stayed alone so a bit scary at night. The room( number16) was really nice! Very modern and clean! Everything is done by phone!! No view from my room and there was lots of "stuff" ( tree trunks, a barrel, an old stove) around my stairs so parking my rental car was a bit tough. Location was great though. Beautiful walks on the river and everything is close. I would honestly stay at the Pioneer again.

We had a wonderful stay visiting Red River for our anniversary. The cabin was very clean and supplied with just the right amenities -- kitchenware, extra towels, cleaning supplies, extra soaps, hair dryer, firewood, etc. The wardrobe with hangars was great for storing items during our stay. The wood stove kept the room very warm and comfortable. The hosts were very quick to respond via text to any questions I had, and everyone who worked on the property was very friendly and helpful. Parking was clearly marked, I loved the coffee shop on site, and the location in town was perfect for walking to shops, dining, and the platinum chair. The property itself was charming, well-maintained, and quiet. We look forward to going back!

We have stayed in the Lodge House 2 years in a row for Spring Break. The location is absolutely perfect for our family. We really enjoy the coffee from Steam. When you reach out to the site manager, they are quick to respond and very attentive. Everyone is really nice and friendly. My reason for not giving 5 stars is that the house is showing a lot of wear and tear. I'm sure they try to keep up but it's looking worn out. It could use a fresh coat of paint throughout the house and a good DEEP cleaning. It is very dusty, the ceiling fans need cleaning and the vents are disgusting especially the one by the refrigerator. It's also time for new pillows.

PLEASE READ BEFORE STAYING HERE!I'm just going to leave a copy of the email I sent to Pioneer Lodge. I never received a response.Good morningMy family and I vacation in Red River a couple of times a year and have since I was a kid. We've never had an unpleasant experience...until we stayed at Pioneer Lodge. First, we got there after an 8 hour drive and wanted to take a nap before dinner but had no bedding for the hide-a-bed. I sent a text to the number we were told to use if we needed anything and didn't get a reply for a while ànd did not get any bedding for hours. There was mouse droppings in the kitchenette cabinet, the bathroom sink was dirty, underneath the bed was trash and debris. We had no idea where to take our own trash as there was no mention of dumpsters or pickup and other guests were also outside asking around as well. Then after only being there two hours the kitchen sink backed up and in order to use the water we had to dump the bucket that was placed under the sink for the remainder of our stay. Oh and we had just a little more than one roll of toilet paper to last us Fri Sat Sun Mon. We were supposed to have fresh towels daily so we did as the directions said and placed the dirty towels on the porch in a basket. We didn't get towels until Sunday. So we were sharing one bath towel for two days. When I texted to report the plumbing problem I was told it probably wouldn't get fixed and I could have a refund so I could go stay somewhere else. ON THE BUSIEST WEEKEND OF THE SEASON! Finally I received a phone call from the lady that I'd been texting with at Pioneer Lodge. She was going to find us a room somewhere and text me with the info because they couldnt get a plumber out. Later on I received a text that she had found us a condo and to call the number so I did. The lady at edelweiss told me they had one condo and the rate was $350 more than what I was paying at Pioneer Lodge because the room was for a large family not two people. So Im shocked that Pioneer Lodge would expect me to pack up and move to another place after all this and expect me to pay the difference. I also mentioned I didn't like communicating by text in this situation and she said that was her preference because she had other things going on. This was very disappointing. Im just shocked how we were treated. There was no way this room was checked before it was rented. She did explain that housekeep had quit that day and they were having plumbing problems earlier. I still can't believe I would be asked to stay somewhere else and pay for the difference myself. Very unprofessional. I also do not recommend texting all communications. It's convenient for a lot of things but not everything. I have stayed in places alot cheaper and not near as nice in my life and was treated a whole lot better. I'd also like a response from this email not something automatically generated. Thank you,Amy D White* I really wish I would have taken the time to read more of the reviews and I really wish I had read the way Pioneer Lodge responded to them. I'd have never stayed here. They don't even say thank you for the positive reviews. Not one. They just chew out the people who leave an honest review. They never accept responsibility.Unbelievable.

Lovely place to stay! Charming, comfortable, clean & convenient. Thoroughly enjoyed relaxing at the firepit taking in views of the fishing pond, mountains and main street!Rooms: Comfortable beds and pillows!Walkability: Stroll to the ski area, restaurants, shops and grocery! And the best coffee in town is on property!

No heat in bathrooms, overpriced, and smelt like rotten eggs / sulfur. Small heating unit was not sufficient for unit. No plugs for any charging, kitchen was useless, and the fridge was a warmer temperature than inside the bathroom. We had little lighting, no lamps just a ceiling fan to keep you nice and cool in the middle of winter. The photos do not tell the story and was completely overpriced for the actual product on site. Asked for any reprieve by ownership with ZERO help, in fact wanted to charge us more to move and cleaning fees. Eventually left with zero refund and will never stay again....BUYER BEWARE.

The one bedroom is absolutely perfect for a couple! Property owner took care of any and all needs/questions. Within walking distance of almost all the stores and restaurants. Breathtaking mountain views right from our front porch. Easy check in and easy check out. Overall a painless awesome stay. We well definitely be back to the Pioneer Lodge!

Nice area, walked to several attractions. We enjoyed the private fishing pond and hot tub. There are several connected cabins but we stayed at the big house. It had 3 regular bedrooms with large TVs, a room with a daybed, a room with 2 bunkbeds & 3 bathrooms, Enjoyed the long dining table, the porch with chairs overlooking the pond and the BBQ grill. Disappointed with slow Wifi and living room TV that didn't work.

The reviews are correct! This is a nice, recently updated, centrally located place. I do have a few recommendations about how it could be a place that I would return to stay again. First, provide a hair dryer and coffee. Next, we watched people fish the pond for three days. No one caught anything at all. It may need to be restocked.... Also, there should be a printed house manual that includes things like where to put trash and park. Parking seems to be a free-for-all. Finally, someone needs to be responsible for checking that guests are not disturbing others in the evenings. There was a large group across from us that had one man in particular who talked very loudly and inappropriately (frequent profanity and talking about sexual exploits loud enough that we heard every detail). We enjoy sitting outside, but this guy ruined our whole evening.

Great location! Nice porch and view from the porch. The 10:00 am strict check out time is absurd! To check out of 5 bedroom house by 10:00 am, with the requirements of taking out the trash, dishes washed, floors swept, towels collected, and you still pay a cleaning fee, makes for a very stressful exit, with no time for breakfast, which seems crazy for your relaxing vacation. With all the emphasis on cleaning, they don’t seem to mind all the mouse poop in the silverware drawer or the fact that the mice devastated our breads in one night. The dead birds and rats in the “fish pond” was also a turn off! I would absolutely not stay here again!

If you are looking for a great rental place in Red River this is a great one. Matt made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We rented the big house for our family and it was perfect. If you don't need a place for 12 he has smaller cabins.

Do not stay here. I repeat. DO NOT.Our cabin stunk so bad from around the toilet it was unbearable. On day 2 of 5 they poured draino in the shower. The floors were so bad un-level the doors wouldn’t even open. Floors were really dirty. No AC. Door handle fell off. I had to fix it myself. Toilet paper roll fell off. I fixed that also. Floor was falling in by the shower. It was leaking all over the floor so standing in water to shave was awesome. Multiple calls and messages and zero help. Zero response. My wife had to track down the owner in person to get the draino which did nothing. The owner has three other businesses in the area and clearly this isn’t his baby. And you better check where his restaurant food is getting cooked from. I’ll give you a hint. It’s coming from the shack by the hot tub and they walk it across the dusty parking lot to bring it into the restaurant.

The owner has chosen to actively violate the state's COVID-19 regulations. They are encouraging out of state travelers to visit by distributing misleading information claiming they are exempt, and/or that the regulations are not enforced. Do not accept their claims. Fact: Out of state visitors are required to quarantine for 14 days regardless of the length of stay. Shorter stays DO NOT make you exempt. Indoor dining is prohibited. Large outdoor or indoor gatherings such as concerts are prohibited. The Taos County Sheriff and the state health department's COVID violation office have been made aware of these issues through repeated reports from concerned local citizens. Please carefully consider your plans.

Got there and was way smaller than anticipated, maybe would work for one person, but for two people it is too small. I booked this room 3 days ago and apparently you can’t cancel unless it is canceled THIRTY DAYS PRIOR. Like how am I supposed to cancel that early if I booked it three days ago. I’m super upset with it…

We’ve stayed here a few times since the renovation in different rooms. They’re all well-decorated with many amenities. It’s the PERFECT location in town—you can walk across the street to the grocery store. Beautiful lights at night!!

sad to say the Pioneer Lodge is violating the State Health Emergency Order of mandatory quarantine for all out of state visitors. There are other places to stay that don’t put your health in danger during a pandemic. Patronize those; avoid this one

It should be called the COVID Lodge. Owner never running at 50% occupancy, no one wearing masks. Everywhere up in Red River packed elbow to elbow with tourists. Very disrespectful.

I recommend this place to anyone. Not only because it is an outstanding establishment that is very clean and the staff is the best around. But because they stand for the people!
