The master leather smiths and shoe makers here represent some of the last of their kind. Cowboys and ranchers from these parts come from far and wide to have their prized hats and boots either custom-made by Solano and crew or to be repaired expertly by them. And indeed, they are masters of their craft, too.Solano's carries an extensive Western clothing selection, women's and men's, to compliment any hat and boots you might own. I bought a beautiful vest that is perfect for most any event I might attend.Check out the considerable collection of old cowboy hats that hangs high above the front counter. They have been donated by the continuing generations of local ranchers and cowboys who have shopped here for decades. Perhaps they bought a new hat and were willing to let go of their old favorite as long as they knew that they could always stop by and see it again on the wall. A nice thought. Who knows.....

The real deal. artisanal craftsmanship. Full service shoe, bag, saddle and boot repair. Done by the nicest guy and his lovely (wife?) Partner. Such an amazing treasure. Seems to be attached to a wonderland of Western Wear.

My husband bought a hat out of a yard sale and wanted it cleaned. We went to Solonos they were very helpful and very knowledgeable about the product he bought. We learned a lot! I love how they are so caring! And of course I bought a new purse while I was there. And they have a lot of very nice things there at great prices!

Ordered a pair of Ariat Vaquera in black, had a question about UK customs charges which was answered within the hour. Boots took just under two weeks to arrive and I have to say they are fabulous! Sandy wrote me a lovely note wishing me happy holidays! Perfect experience from start to finish and lovely people! Highly recommend!

Just lifting the clothing from the box you can feel the weight of the quality fabrics and see the fine workmanship and attention to detail. Adored this store since I first visited Raton in '89. Now I order online and still love it. Also, your saddest old boots will look brand new after Solano's refurbishes them.

I had not been to in Solano's for honestly to long! The family and I stopped in just to look. I could not help myself but to get a wardrobe! Hopefully for my wedding with a cute gal someday! One of the coolest and longest standing business in this quaint little town. It is literally like walking into a Western Heritage Museum! The leather shop, which still operates daily, is a time capsule from days long gone by. Family owned & operated for many decades. A "MUST VISIT" when in Raton,NM.

I drove through Raton last week on my way back to Texas. As a man who grew up on a cattle ranch and does Taxidermy today, it is clear that Solano's is meticulous in their work. A great selection of boots and western wear with a family owned business feel. What a treasure in the mountains of New Mexico. My next boots with be bought through them. They also do custom leather work which is hard to find now days.

The atmosphere is nothing less than amazing the staff was very nice and friendly and helpful I can say I'm going to be shopping there again I will say that I've been by this place a couple of times and wanted to stop by but I can't wear my Tony llama's anymore but I can wear the roper slip on and ended up buying two pairs and a new money clip
