I needed to take my dog to the vet for some stomach issues and this was the closest one. I am really pleased with the care we received. They’re using covid procedures of having humans wait in their cars. The vet tech took my dog in when it was time to be seen. And the vet tech and vet were both super friendly and knowledgeable. They got us all taken care of and I’ll be using this veterinarian from now on.

Several days ago, 3 puppies washed up on our river bank. I contacted PVVH and they were wonderful! The love and care toward myself and these puppies was so appreciated.The puppies were vaccinated, wormed, and even got their nails clipped! They helped us with some of the cost of their vetting and even donated a kennel to our rescue!The puppies are ready for adoption and I am so grateful to these people. I am switching all of my animals’ to this clinic. A++

I called out of desperation. Since I'm not a regular customer, he said he'd see and treat my dog for a snake bite but it would be at least $1,000. (Now I see why he wasn't recommended by any established vets in the area.)

It's alright...I just wish older dogs didn't get written off so easily. I feel this place is way too expensive and not hands on enough. I paid for an exam on my elderly dog and the vet never really touched her. How do you administer health care without touching the patient.

Dr. Michael Calahan and his staff are great! They are professional and knowledgeable and helpful. They treat animals with respect and dignity, which is very important to me. I always need to know my pet is treated kindly because he is a family member not just an animal. I can walk away and come back knowing he has been treated well...no fear.

Best Vet I have ever taken any of my dogs to. Dr. Callahan takes a lot of time talking with you about your pet's health and behavior. His prices are very reasonable as well.

In Nov. my elderly 80 pound Great Dane dog was having seizures and sadly passed. The next morning I called my vet clinic (Pecos vets) to get help with removing his body. They wanted to charge me $250. Instead, I took him to the vets in Eldorado. Not only did they help in every way and the cost was about $100., They also sent cards and grieving info along with his ashes. My Pecos vets...? Nothing. They didn't even call me, and I've been a client for 2+ years. They seem to not care and I expected so much better. They suck!

I came in just for a week and had an issue with my dogs paw. These guys fit me in and took care of it asap. They were kind and actually solved a problem that had been ongoing for awhile that my local vet had not. Wish we lived closer. They would be our vet if we did.

Dr Callahan is definitely one of the BEST and most caring vets we have ever experienced in New Mexico, or anywhere else -for that matter.He has attended to our 7 horses, 2 dogs and 2 cats, and is an amazing, kind, knowledgeable and gentle vet, who goes out of his way whenever called upon.There should be human doctors as nice. ;-)

They treated our four legged family member with respect and showed a commitment to providing the best for us. This is the only vet I trust with my dog. I have an aggressive dog, and Dr. Michael C doesnt judge me for the aggressive issues of my dog. He also doesnt feel threatened, and knows how to handle my dog when taking blood. He always shows care and provides the lab results and explains what everything means. Highly recommended vet and worth driving an hour out of town for.

My dog cut her foot and Dr. Callahan took her in immediately. I appreciate that they did the entire procedure with me in the room with her. All the vets in Santa Fe these days take the dogs in the back hall even to give injections, and would likely have put Rimadyl and antibiotics on my bill without asking. Antibiotics are also overprescribed in pets and I was glad she wasn't given any. The stitches dissolve so I don't need to come back and he used a no-chew bandage, which I had never heard of before, and gave me an extra roll and it works fantastic. She is doing great.

It's been a long time since my pets have received such kind, loving, effective care from a veterinarian and their staff. Reasonably priced and very friendly. I won't be going anywhere else any time soon!

WONDERFUL rural feeling vet!! Just like what I grew up going to where there may even be a pig in the waiting room with you! So kind, genuine, honest and affordable. You will not be sold what your pet does not need. I even moved 2 hours away but will still make this the vet for my babes. THIS is what you want from a vet.

Nice, But...Might be a great Dr. But the first visit is to much. The front office charges $80.I drove to Santa Fe, NM. First visit, plus medication. Was $68.

They are a little pricey but they will do anything in their power to get you and the pets the assistance that you need. You may ask doc questions over the phone so you can determine if you would like to make an apt or not
