DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!!! I was gonna purchase some snacks and use the restroom. Only I was told by some rude old man, the restroom is 1 mile East of their location & got dismissed.

If I didn't see this place in person myself, I would never believe such a place existed! When I was traveling from the Midwest to the West coast, I encountered this place because I needed gas. It was not enough that the prices were jacked up because they knew visitors would have to stop by to buy items like gas, food, etc; however, all the worst was when I asked to use the restroom, and was told, in a joking manner, that I just needed to go to the outhouse behind the service center. I laughed and so did the guy at the booth. And I literally thought he was joking! That is until he insisted I exit the service center, walk several hundred feet down the road, around the corner, where I would be able to do my business. He was not joking! I included some short video clips and photos of my experience, there.The only reason why I gave them two stars as opposed to one star is because the guy at the booth was so kind and hilarious that I couldn't resist laughing at him. He was great! Everything else was shocking to me. The "outhouse" or "Johnny on the spot" was deplorable. It was disgusting. Fortunately, I only needed to take a leak and therefore decided to go in the bushes.I was at this place in the early part of August. I'm confident that I won't visit this place again. My advice??? **TRUST AND HEED THESE REVIEWS**!! I wish I would have bothered to read them before going there. Although, I'm not sure I had much of an option since I truly need gas.

To all who complain, there are rest areas to use the bathroom, this is a business ! When day were old and Knights were bold, and toilets weren't invented, we dumped our load aside the road and went along contented. Food for thought. LOL

Great people. This gas station is literally in the middle of nowhere. I weighs about 7 mi from running out of gas so I was in desperate need of a stop. They have some interesting items inside the store, And even a small post office. However, keep in mind the bathroom situation is strictly an outdoor port a john.

We were looking for a place to gas up and came across Newkirks. Wasn't much to look at and the restroom was a porta potty on the side of the building. People inside the station were very friendly. Newkirk is located on old Rte 66.

Bring your own toilet paper to the port of potties to the East and enjoy overnight parking and the good jerky but don't feed the chickens.

In 2015 me and my girlfriend took the 2 month trip around the US with our dully F350 and 5th Wheel. When we were on the way back to Florida again we have stopped at this guess station. It was an awesome experience and we had great conversation with the owner. We will come back on our travels again, making sure we wont miss this place off of I-40. ;)

Rude and refuses to let you use their bathroom which is against ada laws. Cranky old lady with a dog and you can’t even take your service dog inside. Time to file a law suit on these people after seeing the rest of the reviews. Inhumane people. Like the others have said remove your bathroom sign from the freeway.

The sign says "restrooms for gas customers only"...not uncommon these days so didn't think much of it. Stupidly, we paid for gas before going inside. The "restrooms" are by far the most unclean port-a-pottys I have ever seen! And I work construction 😅.The guy in the neighboring "stall" came out saying it's like a scene from Trainspotting. Absolutely disgusting!!!!!

Horrible my 5 year old had to go number 2 and the guy said we could not use the restrooms and was very rude to my father in law. We were excited to see part of the historic route 66. And got turned away.

Learn from our mistake, drive the extra distance and go somewhere else. We're on a 25-hour road trip, and Google maps showed that this gas station was the closest stop (we needed to use the restroom and, unfortunately, we assumed that since they're the only place around they'd be hospitable). They have a sign posted on the door that clearly indicates they can refuse service to anyone, and no one spoke when I walked in. I spotted the person in charge sitting behind the glass about 2 feet from me and looking right at me, so I asked if they had a restroom my daughter and I could use, and we were refused service. Rude, inhospitable, and a waste of space and time. Please remove the signs near the main road indicating there's a restroom and put up a big one that reads "NO PUBLIC RESTROOM". Not like we'll ever be coming back here, but maybe then you'll stop getting 1 star reviews because of the rude staff and inconvenience.

DONT STOP HERE! It will be a waste of your valuable pee pee dance time! They will not let you use the bathroom & their selection is pretty poor. Might as well keep going the next town 20 mins away.

No restrooms. Doesn't matter if you buy gas or not. Person working here was so rude about it, I offered to buy some things and fill up my tank and he basically laughed at me and said I should have stopped at the rest stop a mile earlier. And I would have done that, except I needed gas (which I obviously chose not to buy here after dealing with that person). You then have to either continue 20 something miles westbound or go to the rest stop just down the road which causes a 15+ mile detour if you are westbound.Go literally anywhere else.

I love this fuel stop. As a trucker, it’s the perfect place to stop for a 10 hour reset. The owner is an incredibly kind hearted, patriotic and God loving human being. God bless you sir, I always enjoy our brief conversations. If you’re a woke liberal take your business elsewhere

1) Stealing money through gas pump!I had to pay cash, so I estimated $20 would get me 2/3-3/4 tank (I already had a quarter tank in my small hybrid gas tank).That's at $3.79+/- per gallon. It only filled my tank a fraction more than a half tank (read that as 1/4 tank pumped into it)! I used that quarter tank, pulled into a gas station that had gas at $3.84, pumped $20 in, and got me more than half a tank pumped in, confirming my suspicion.2) The pumps run off a central card payment machine (between the pumps). The other guy at the pump said to me when I pulled up, "Good luck using that thing. I tried four times. I finally went inside to pay and he said something about it being down when the phone it being used." Fortunately he warned me. If I had gotten that to work, a full fill-up that should have cost me $30 would have cost me $60.3) There's no public restroom.4) I asked the guy for a receipt. He just printed a random receipt for $20. No item on it. It seemed a bit shady at the time (Driving away, I realized how little gasoline I got, so maybe I'm right.)I'm reporting the place as soon as I can find the government entity that's responsible for gasoline pump validation.

You’re driving miles and miles… those Starbucks coffees have done all they can and your body is done with them. You check google maps for the next gas station because face it, small towns in the middle of nowhere are only used for pit stops to relieve yourself or fuel up in an emergency until you get to the next big town. Newkirk pops up and the next town after that is another 40 miles. Can’t wait, so you exit. I pull up to this gas station and ask where the restroom is, and the person at the counter rolls his eyes in disgust and tells me to go outside past a motor home. Turns out there were port-a-potties on the other side of the motor home that appeared stranded in the parking lot next to the station. He seems really put out that someone would need to use the bathroom. My wife feels bad for the guy and buys a snickers bar and bottle of water. As we drive off she notices the snickers bar expired two years ago. As someone else mentioned, turns out there is a rest stop just past this place if you are headed East, so just keep on going and let this guy live in peace and quiet.

This place is horrible. The rest stop was closed down the road and so I stopped here. I was happy, enjoying the ‘middle of nowhere’ feel & was going to buy some touristy things as well as a snack but REALLY needed to use the restroom. The woman at the counter ignored me completely when I asked. She wouldn’t even make eye contact & after repeating myself nicely for the 3rd time I thought she might be deaf. Then the man behind the counter spoke up so rudely I was taken back & repeated myself again. He said they had no bathrooms. Now I understand with liability issues & such not all business have public bathrooms but I was shocked at how unfriendly this place was. I will keep driving and never return to this town again.

If you get gas here make sure you know how many gallons you need. Or you can pick amount to pay if paying with card. Didnt go inside store we just got enough gas to get us to Tucumcari to fill up.

If you are one of the entitled generation this place may not be for you, but if you like a good old country store with the cheapest gas around this place is great. I needed a trailer tire for my rig and they hooked me up.
