Visited this location on May 5th, 2024 around 11am. You would think staff would be fully prepared for an auspicious day as today with a full team ready to serve and counters fully stocked to sell product. Unfortunately the first time experience for this customer was far less than satisfactory! At 11:00am no hot deli floods set up, staff (one associate in deli, another prepping and back turned to customer) totally oblivious to customers (check your cameras) and zero acknowledgement when called upon to inquire about assistance, even if they tried you could only hear muffled garbage through the mask! When asked if he could prepare a sandwich, he stated when he was through assisting others....there were no others....seems to me there is a reason there is a "help wanted sign" taped to the front of the counter! Why would anyone want to work in such a dysfunctional establishment? The associate was a "pill"! As slow as he appeared to be working he certainly could not have been stressed or over worked and understaffed. He had plenty of idle time to chit chat with his peer and not avail time for his customers. But this unfortunately is what customers receive in a small town with out competition. Arrogance! Laziness! Hopefully Marco/Mario the Store Director is required to read reviews or Smiths Customer Service Team does and reacts to the lowest of lows service, first by cutting the pork and exiting the associate that is tanking this company's branding. Smith's service has precipitously declined over the years and needs to do a better job vetting their applicants. They should have been able to read that associate from a mile away! Check your cameras Store Director....date and time will unveil your issue.

Their Deli sandwich trays (made to order) are great! A variety of sandwiches, well made.Maryann in the deli is an asset- good communication. There was a delay with the croissants and she called me the morning of my event to make changes to my trays orSee if I was okay waiting a little longer for the crosssiants. I highlyRecommend Smiths Deli.

My mother shops most times using the pickup option. The last 3 times we have gotten pickup orders, there is always a problem. They have forgotten half of our order, given us items we did not purchase, and just about 30 minutes ago, left my mom waiting for over an hour and a half for 13 items. Luckily we live on the hill, but what if we didn’t and had to get home? They also have no carts inside whatsoever, leaving customers to get their own carts from outside. They have been nothing but a joke lately, it is sad to see how downhill they’ve gone in the last year.

This Smith's is one of my favorites for variety and gourmet ingredients, however recently they have been lacking cashiers which causes 10 to 20 minute lines sometimes, and there rarely if ever are baggers/ courtesy clerks around to help the one or two cashiers. Usually one of two self checkout lines are staffed by one person each and there aren't any greeters, nor customer service clerks for any refunds.Slowly but surely this store is turning into a ghost town staff wise, which is sadThere used to be other issues, but those have been fixed really well (shout-out to Heather and Wendy for taking care of those issues). I still love this location, but I'm worried the cut in staff is affecting the store negatively

I was there last on the 23rd of December. I was able to find all I needed, including eggs. This is a very large store with a selection of groceries and much more, including clothes and hardware. And a pharmacy, of course. I don’t use the Starbucks (too expensive!)The line at the cashier wasn’t too long, considering that everybody was shopping for Christmas.

Smiths market place is a great store, BUT, I was there at 9:45 Saturday morning and they only had one side of the self checkout open and to lined with checkers. The line to checkout had at least 30 people in it. It went all the way back up one isle. It took me 20 minutes to get checked out. Why were half of the self checkout lanes closed on a Saturday morning? I'll definitely go back there. Not to many other choices in Los Alamos, but they need to make it quicker and easier to get checked out.

This Smith's was the cleanest Smith's I've ever been to. It had a huge selection of premium items and things I've never seen in other Smith's stores. I definitely will be returning when in Los Alamos. I tried their Boars head sandwich area where they make fresh sandwiches, and it was delicious!! Definitely recommend if you're in the area and the sushi section was bountiful!

This Smith's location is one of the largest and cleanest locations around. One of the best selection of everything you can think of and definitely stuff you need that you didn't know. The staff throughout the market are pleasant, courteous and responsive. This definitely is one of my most favorite markets to shop.

I do not think this store is very well run. No change in my earlier review. See photos.5 years ago - Hit or miss inventory. Shrinking product diversity. Subpar produce and overpriced meats.

Great store! Not only for all your food needs it also has clothes and home decor. I needed a baby gift and found the cutest little outfit, that was also perfectly priced.

Great store for the locals. It operates like a Kroger store for those that know Kroger. For those that don't, please know this is as good as any grocery store you will find!

I have shopped here since it opened. The cashiers that have been at this store for years are extremely rude. Self check out machines freeze up and trying to get assistance was almost nonexistent. Our “cashier” was too busy yapping with another cashier. After a minute of waiting for her, my husband finally asked for assistance and when she finally came over she acted like we were inconveniencing her. I said thank you for your help and she turned and walked away without saying a word. Extremely rude.

This is a pretty nice store. Great selection fresh food. If shopping wears you out, take a break at the bar, have a beer, watch some sports. You can use your Kroger card to get the discounts if you don't have a smiths card.

This Smiths has one of the worst customer service I had ever experienced. The lack of registers open, constantly forgetting half my pick up order, and never answering their phone. Take the time to drive to the White Rock location. Management of Los Alam9s should be replaced...including corporate.

This is a Kroger’s undercover but with more selection and a bar inside. Think of it, you get groceries and have a drink. It’s like the 1950’s called and said this is the grocery store we had only it was really an extended Walgreens.

Very nice clean grocery store with a wide variety of produce. However, it's a bit pricey and can be expensive at times. Every time I go to get fresh seafood from the seafood department or fresh meats, there is never a Smith's associate there to help. I always end up waiting 10 or so minutes for someone to help me. They usually only have 1 cashier working with extremely long lines, and the rest of the registers are self checkout. This can be pretty inconvenient and difficult when you are shopping with small younger children, and you're trying to keep an eye on them and check out a full basket of groceries.

We have a Dillons Marketplace back home and we were traveling through town and needed a few items. Stopped here and it was like walking in to the one back home. Very clean. The girl working the self check out area was very nice. Family restroom was relatively clean but soap and paper towels were out. They have everything you could possibly need here.

For people wanting to work here:I strongly urge you to not waste your time on this company if you’re looking for employment. HR ladies are so unprofessional and rude. They forced me come into work with food poisoning after they preached in orientation about keeping customers safe by not coming to work with an illness. The bakery where I worked is disgusting. They use dirty pans to bake their bread, pastries, and donuts on. Overall, just a horrible place to work. ALSO, if you’re a Native American, please don’t give this place a chance. The HR ladies are extremely racist and will never give you time off for traditional activities.

I love shopping here although they're extremely short staffed. Cashiers are doing the best they can with very little help from management. The store is poorly managed but employees are doing their best!

Empty shelves, mile long checkout lines… The Smith’s shopping experience has deteriorated a lot over the last five years. Glad we have coop and natural grocers up here in Los Alamos.

This Smith’s opened up a few years ago with much excitement. Even one of the higher ups from Kroger traveled to New Mexico for its grand opening and its easy to see why. As this Smith’s “Marketplace” boats everything a standard location features while also presenting shoppers with a little more. When I arrived yesterday the store was sprawling as always. The produce section was running a little low, but it was near the end of the day so I’ll let it pass. The bakery and meat counter were both well stocked and offered a greater selection than what you’d expect to find at more conventional Smith’s. Aisle after aisle was much the same: clean and very neatly organized. The wine cellar, cleaning, and home supply sections of the store are also great additions most people will appreciate. As they make this location a one stop run.Though I don't reside in the city of Los Alamos. I imagine anything that absolves its residents from having to venture to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in neighboring Espanola is more than welcomed. That said, Smith’s Marketplace on Trinity Drive in Los Alamos is a well established grocery/box store. It serves its purpose and the fine people of the city of discovery well. Definitely something I wish my Albuquerque neighborhood could have in it.

Very poorly managed. Staff are not scheduled appropriately, too few on at a given time, carts are never available, lines are usually very long, and pharmacy has very limited hours. Additionally, ordering and stocking are a common issue as products are not always available. This is not a regional issue as the White Rock and Santa Fe locations operate much better.

This is a very good grocery store. There is a food already cooked and ready to eat like a cafeteria/buffet. The quality of the produce, bread/pastries/deli/butcher is very good.

Long lines, max 1 cashier open, self-checkout machines freeze and require assistance half the time...the bakery section is also frequently low on stock around the weekends with no workers ever to be seen. Some baked items I've seen even had mold; I wonder how many other items they leave out past expiration. They should probably hire more people - maybe even increase whatever their starting wage is so you can actually run the store effectively.

Typically only one cashier, all self checkout. Over an hour long line on Wednesday night waiting to check out.Produce much always extremely poorly stocked, very little produce and what is there is poor quality. Tofu always out, brown rice gone. This has to be the worst Smiths I've ever seen.

This is a big Smiths and sells things other Smiths do not. It is clean and usually well stocked. Which comes at a price, this store is always very busy with shoppers. This isn't helped by the fact that most local customers shop several times a week, if not daily. Prepare to stand in line...

Out of all of this grocery store in the area, this is my favorite. However the pricing is getting out of control. Buying groceries is beginning to be unattainable

I’m a visitor to Los Alamos and every time I come I have to visit Smith’s because it’s not only a great grocery store and very clean and the employees are so kind….but the patio is insane! 🤯 To have a patio on a cliff at a grocery store overlooking so much peaceful beauty is truly exceptional! Thank you developers or planners or people of Los Alamos who demanded this patio be present if nature was going to be paved over or whomever made the fantastic decision to put this patio here. I wish this were more more common that businesses created spaces for people to enjoy and see nature. Well done.
