This was our first appointment for our 2 kitties here in Los Alamos. Everything about it was very easy. The lobby is large enough that when a dog came in we were no where close. The assistant and Dr. in the exam room were easy to talk to, explained choices well, and very engaging with our kitties. The person at the desk for check in and check out was nice and patient as I struggled with my heavy cat carrier and hurried around the counter to open the door on our way out. Thank you all at Animal Clinic for Los Alamos!!

I’m so happy that Los Alamos finally has a provider to care for exotic animals! They were able to see my hedgehog very quickly and got him on the antibiotics he needed. Dr Krakoff was knowledgeable and thorough. (March 2024)

I made an appointment for what was supposed to be a skin tag removal. I made that clear on the phone and they said "no problem." I get there and I get a $25 vaccine and $75 wellness visit. The wellness visit they only checked vitals which took 5 mins. Then continued to up sale additional vaccines and came back with and itemized estimate of $1000 to remove a skin tag! This place is incredibly overpriced!

Dr. Nuria demonstrated a lot of patience with my dog, who is a difficult visitor to the vet. This experience starkly contrasted our experience going to a different vet prior. She spent a good chunk of time helping to acclimate our dog before attempting to diagnose her issue. Followed up quickly, and provided detailed options for treatment. We appreciated her time and diligence and plan to return for other vet needs.

Before the visit, I called to ask for the estimates for vaccines, wellness check, and urine and blood tests. The first time I called, I was told that they didn't have the estimate for senior dog wellness check ready for me and I could call back later. I called again and was told there are various tests and they don't know for sure how much the whole thing would cost until the doctor takes a look at my dog.I took my dog in today. I asked for the estimates on paper and informed the tech that I only want to do the two vaccine shots today. I specifically told the tech I prefer to talk to my husband first before doing the wellness check ($79) and the $200something senior dog tests. The vet then came in. She was super friendly and did a good job connecting with my dog. I heard her said, "We are only going to do the two vaccine shots today but before that let me check on you." She quickly checked on my dog(less than 3minutes). I found it a bit odd since we were only getting vaccines today but she patted on my dog and quickly checked on her teeth and listened to heart beats. I thought it was the standard practice. When checking out, I was charged with the wellness check fee and $10 tech support fee along with the two vaccine shots I agreed with. It was a long day and I didmention my concern to the front desk. I was told this is what the vet billed me for today's visit. We have been going to los Alamos animal clinic for 7 years. I think they switched owners during the pandemic and the prices have gone up to the extent that it is quite unreasonable. I still want to thank most of the staff for being courteous but today's incident leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. Just be aware!

My dog went in April for a dental. Afterwards she developed an infection, which came back several times. They referred us to a specialist in Algodones that believed her condition could be treated with medicine, which they gave the prescription for to ACLA. ACLA did not write it down or do anything with that information for weeks until we called both them and the specialist who resent over the info. ACLA told us they could not fill the perscriptions and said a pharmacy could but did not know who could all while the dogs condition got worse. We asked for a round of antibiotics to fight it since they have seen this dog several times over the past months, but they wanted to schedule a visit so they could charge us several hundred more dollars for something they could see from their notes.I am still unable to get the medicine for my dog and very disappointed in this vet who clearly does not care about their patients.

It is better to drive to Santa Fe and find other options. It is almost impossible to call and book an appointment since they don't answer the calls 80% of the time. The vets are nice but they are very VERY expensive when compared to clinics in SF or ABQ. I would not recommend it especially if your pets have big health issues.

I have been going here for more than 6 years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Especially since my dog is terrified to have his paws touched let alone his nails trimmed.Update: The Clinic was sold and the new staff and Vets are not good at all

My wife an I can't say enough good things about the animal clinic and its staff. We have been customers for years. Dr. Sarah De Wild, Jessica Lind and the rest of the staff are amazing people and very caring of the animals. THE BEST IN TOWN

This is the only clinic I've ever been to where the vets purr at my cats to comfort them. I was so impressed I immediately brought the rest of my pets here to make sure they get their annual exams and shots done. The staff are very friendly and patient with reactive animals, and do everything possible to make the experience as comfortable and positive as they can for both the pet and the human. I appreciate that they're a little more on the casual side when they explain things to me, it feels more like a knowledgeable friend telling or teaching me something. The cost here is reasonable for the quality of care, and I love getting my receipts emailed to me when I need to claim something from the pet insurance. Probably my favorite thing about the clinic is that I know during their open hours I can always call for help if I'm ever unsure about something, and I'll get an answer as to what to do. I'm never left hanging.

We brought in our senior dogs to the clinic for a wellness exam. Our concerns about their health were of course reviewed. Diet was professionally discussed with zero shame and provided more education, which we’re grateful for since our dogs eat raw food. Knowing that our clinic is another resource with solutions that support our lifestyle is invaluable.

I have 11 year old Weimaraner. His "to do list" is very long. I kind of got use to to be taken advantage of by different veterinary clinics. Luckily I had great opportunity to check out Animal Clinic. They made sure to address my dog well being before pushing on extended list of test and treatments. They prioritize his quality of life more than their bottom line. All staff and Veterinarians are very kind. There was no extensive waiting line, and Dr.Julie followed up with call to make sure my dog is doing well. Thank you for being awesome!

I have an older dog with arthritis who was exhibiting signs of pain and fatigue during the normal walks around the block. They were great about providing all options and potential side effects. They returned my call to discuss dosage changes and we've settled on meds/dosage that are working and have increased my dog's energy and quality of life!

Paid $300 dollars to get blood and urinalysis for my car. We collected the blood initially and scheduled the urine collection for a later date. At the time was told I we could easily get the urine through a needle. When the time came they decided my cats bladder was too small and that was not a viable option. Additionally, based on the results from the blood work it wasn't necessary. No problem. I have a busy schedule and the other methods of urine collection werent viable for me at the time anyways. When asked if they could refund me for just the urine portion of what I had paid was just told no saying that I got a "deal" for getting both done, even though I could have paid less to just get the blood work done from the start. No credit for future visits, nothing. I will say the staff was friendly but aside from that I feel like I was promised a service that they wouldn't refund when they couldn't do it. I usually go to Ridgeview Veterinary Clinic but decided to try somewhere else. Big mistake.

The clinic has been "okay" for regular visits with the exception of recommending medicines that were not MDR1 safe without letting us know after we explicitly told them our dog had a 50% chance of having MDR1. The terrible service occurred when our pup for very sick though. We called very early in the morning as soon as they opened and they refused to see him. Other vets keep some availability open for emergency visits, but they do not. They told us to go elsewhere. We had to drive to Santa Fe to see a vet who would take him. The veterinarians we saw in Santa Fe were shocked that his regular vet wouldn't take him for an emergency. We will not go back.

Incompetent service. At check in the receptionist ask me to get dog on scale, tells me weight is 66 kg, I ask again later what the weight was and I'm told 60, I asked them to check again, he's tells me 66 kg, I told him that couldn't be right for my 70lb dog, he said " oh yes that was pounds!" Then the tech ask me if I brought records, they already had records in system from previous owner which we had discussed when I made the appointment. Finally she asks me to pull the woke mask over my nose... That did it, never have I had great service from these people, never will I go back!

ACLA is very responsive, professional, and friendly. I drive our pets there even though there are vet clinics closer to home because they are that good. I feel very comfortable taking our pets there and the vet takes the time to explain everything in detail which is greatly appreciated.

Very helpful and accommodating. They worked Ozzy in at the last minute so he could be microchip and checked out before he took his plane ride. With their support he did very good for a first time flyer.

They helped us with a pet emergency when everyone else (including our long-term vet) refused to (covid-related business changes). Dr. Nuria is friendly, very professional, and continues to help us through a difficult situation with care and compassion. That matters!

Amazing! We adopted a cat then found out he had terrible ear mites, so badly that he nay be partially deaf. The staff was knowledgeable, incredibly kind, and had a wonderful sense of humor. We’ll be returning for sure.

They are somewhat expensive, but everything is expensive on the hill. They did fit us in for an unscheduled appointment, but they charge a special fee for that. Make sure to question recommendations for tests as they do want to test for everything, which can get expensive. Always make an informed decision about what you are agreeing to.

We needed to get set up with a vet as soon as moving to Los Alamos. My husband and I, as well as our sickly pooch, felt right at home on our first visit.
