The food was excellent and we met some great people there, but we almost didn’t stay when we arrived. We were barked at by the waitress to close the door, had to ask for a menu when I said we might just be having coffee and a snack (I ended up having a delicious burrito). It turned out to be a gem, and hopefully it was just a bad day for that one waitress.

If you’re thinking about dining at this national treasure, think again. Open the door, immediately close it, and turn around. We were excited to experience the history, but before we could even get through the door the waitress came out from behind the counter and began berating us about our service dog and to close the door. We did just that. We left and took our business elsewhere. Poor customer service from the get-go.

Stumbled on to this gem of a small town restaurant. It was full of local people and I got to chat with the caretaker of the church across the street. The people running the place were friendly and very efficient. The food was great! The decor was remnants of when it used to be a General Store - nicely preserved.

The food was great. I would say it was above standard for NM cuisine. But most of all the staff were incredibly friendly. As of 2/21/21 they are at 50% capacity dine-in inside, and full capacity on deck (2 2-seat tables and 1 4-seat table).

Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Dierdre, serves up delicious and varied food as well as entertaining information and enjoyable conversation. New Mexican dishes at their finest. The walls are a treasure trove of art, memorabilia, and history. A pleasant find after driving through the Gila National Forest.

Charming little restaurant in the middle of an old mining town. The service was personal since there were not that many seats. The burger I got was pretty well seasoned; a bit messy to eat but tasty. The fries were clearly homemade and crispy. I think it's well worth a visit just due to the decor alone.

We stopped here for lunch and was a nice little cafe. The owner/waitress was very nice and put up with my children being a nuisance. The food was good too. I had a burrito and my wife a burger. The fries were homemade. The place is off the beaten path but if you're in the neighborhood check it out.

I had the Cheeseburger and the wife had the big Grilled Cheese and we shared. Both were great. These small town mom and pops are a breath of fresh air, and this is a great example. Hope for many more road trip lunches here.

Friday October 16, 2020.Today’s is the first time we could visit the cafe for breakfast and we weren’t disappointed. A small patio area with tables and chairs that felt good with the sun on my back.Wonderful food. Go easy on the breakfast sausage as it warmed the back of my throat. Lovely. Stop by to eat, enjoy the pleasure of sitting outside the cafe where it is very quiet.Today we had a nice motorcycle ride to Hillsboro, a great meal and Great conversation. Our thanks and will be back.Bruce & Kay

From scratch. Everything! You can feast your eyes on the myriad antiquities literally everywhere, whilst you wait for any of the many excellent possibilities for your more physical appetite! Yummy!!! And the folks are soooo lovely as well! No mask, no entry though. Very strict and no arguments. The bumble pie is worth however far you’ve come!

Stopped in for breakfast and glad we did. Everything was fine, especially the Blueberry Pancakes. A nice collection of antiques throughout the store to see as well. Located on beautiful scenic highway 152, between interstate 20 and Silver City.

Wonderful atmosphere and food. We were there for breakfast and sat on the front patio with our dog. The service was friendly and efficient. I can't wait until we're in the area again and can go back for lunch!

The General Sore is a local favorite restaurant, and I've eaten here many times. I love their New Mexican cuisine -- it's always fresh and made-to-order. Their bumbleberry pie is to-die-for, great with vanilla ice cream. The building is historic and the decor reflects the fascinating heritage of the region; the service and the local people are super friendly.

Food was good service was good waitress was friendly the place had lots of Western things hanging on the walls. Steep steps to. Get in side was very hard for my father an I who both use canes. We would definitely go back if in the area again.
