Beautiful area. Nice trail about 3/4-1 mile long. One side, side closer to the group shelter, starts off a bit steeper than the other side. Elevation is about a 200+ gain. There is a little park. Grounds are maintained very well. Area is clean. There are vault toilets located throughout the park. The main bathroom is clean, but only has 1 shower. Never really seemed busy though. The campground host was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Was very dog-friendly. Definitely plan on staying again. One negative is how close the electric sites are to each other and you share a water spigot. Water pressure in RV wasn't the greatest, but the water pressure in the shower at the main bathroom was good.

This was my third visit. Great location to take the kids. The creek and ponds are very close to the campsites. The fishing isn't great, but the kids enjoyed trying. The camp hosts were very helpful and friendly for our group at the River Group Shelter. The group site has sodium lights that can stay on all night in the shelter. There are power outlets in the shelter, a water spigot nearby, as well as vault toilets. The only thing not functional was the bear box. There is a foot bridge to cross the creek, and vehicles have to ford a 10 foot wide and 1 foot section of the creek. There is also a trail that heads up the hill then heads towards the upper section of the camp to the east.Playground: Great for younger kids.Restrooms: Better than average vault toilets.

This was such an amazing find! The campsite was super clean, level and the shelter was so convenient and clean. They power wash them in between campers. The restrooms/showers were spotless. Really felt like people who worked there took pride in what they do, and it was GREATLY appreciated. The creek runs along the campground, which was beautiful.Great spot and great people.

So continues the adventures of Mutt and Sidekick. We all came out for the weekend with one of the grandsons to enjoy some away time. This area managed to avoid the brunt of the recent fires that devastated this area. There is considerable work in progress here though. It appears the sites are getting upgrades to include new ramps, painting of the shelters, leveling of the sites, and an overhaul of the entire campground. There is currently no fires allowed or charcoal, propane grills are still good though. The rangers are pretty thorough about all of the rules being enforced for everyone who stays here, even when you’re the only ones currently at the site. It’s actually a good thing though, that means when this area is really busy you won’t have to worry about those that seem to be above the rules. The sites are all pretty much back in sites. Most will have decent shade in the summer with plenty of separation between. The showers and restrooms are all very clean, and well taken care of. The showers though were rather chilly, I would have to say water temp about 100 degrees and the restrooms themselves seemed to be maintained at about 65. Not a pleasant relaxing shower, but you can at least wash the trail dirt off. There are two marked trails in the park and both are pretty easy hikes, the longer one is about 1.5 miles. we took the grandson fishing and despite the claims, there were no fish we could find in the river. I imagine that when it gets closer to the busy season stocking will become more evident and the kids can catch some stockers. For a small park and campground this is a great area with fantastic views and dead quiet at night. We really enjoyed this one and have marked it as comeback spot for us.

First time camping here. Had a blast.. Be prepared for wind and bring a hummingbird feeder. You'll thank me later. Electric loop is close quarters, but as long as you aren't an a$$ it's perfectly fine.

We loved Coyote Creek and would return. Must see Angel Fire and Red River. The Vietnam Memorial in Angel Fire is truly special. Coyote Creek had the cleanest bathrooms I have seen. The scenery is beautiful. We stayed in the electric loop E10.

NM-434 is one of the most underrated scenic routes in this state. It runs along the creek in a lush green area with rolling hills and forests. This park is located in a remote area, and it's a pleasant, tranquil place and well-maintained. Definitely a great spot to stop, relax and enjoy the ambiance.

Dates of stay: 18-20 July 19. Well-maintained park. The crew seems to be very engaged on the upkeep. Camp hosts were nice. Very clean vault toilets. Large grassy overflow area available if all spots are filled. Stayed in the Encino Loop (E3). Park map shows 6 spots in Encino Loop, only 5 currently available (maybe they plan to put in a 6th). 2 of the 5 (E4 and E5) are tent spots only. E4 has two picnic tables and two fire pits,so good for large tent groups. The road up to the loop is not too bad, but the road will get very muddy during a good rain. The Creek seemed low...only a few spots with 2 feet of water. Just seemed odd to fish for fish that you can easily see swimming around. People were fishing and catching, but the fishing didn't really excite me. Creek was great for kids to play in. Good cell phone service (Verizon).

There are only a few spots with hook-ups that also have privacy at this park. We were lucky enough to get site 20 because we got here on a Monday. Unfortunately it rained almost the whole week we were here. We camped here in July 2017 and from what I understand, it's not usually this rainy even during the summer monsoon season. It rained for 3 days and nights straight. It got pretty depressing. Especially because there are no TV signals and only a couple of bars of 3G data for internet. It's a beautiful place and if you like fishing, this is one of the best spots you'll ever find.

First-time visit to this beautifully maintained State Park right off the road, with easy walking access to a lovely fishing stream. Clear meadows surrounded by a lush forest with a natural trail, birds & dragon flies galore. Set up with restroom/shower facilities (open versus closed season availability), playground, shelters, walking bridge and a huge open built event space.Picnic area: Small parking spot lots with in-ground BBQ grills. Huge open built event space with tables, possibly electricity perfect for large family celebrations. Easy road access not needing 4-wheel drive in meadows or through stream to secondary parking near event space. Open meadow spaces to set up activities, tents etc.

We spent a week love the feeling of being in the woods loved the walking trails and the creek but didn't like the set of electric sites so close to one another.

This is a beautiful state park. No cellphone service is available at least on my plan, but there is a very helpful camp host on duty who is willing to help with most issues. I didn't complain, but there was one group of campers not far from us that had their generator running past midnight. I wasn't sure of the park rules on noise, but otherwise, it was a wonderful visit.

Beautiful park. Everything green and blooming. Choke cherries, rose hips and many wild flowers. I love it there. Very clean restroom and vaults.

Deep in the mountains near Taos, South of Angel Fire. Very secluded.Far from everything. Nearest town is 30 miles away (Angel Fire). No cell-internet-TV-radio. Elevation aprox 8500 feet.

Limited electric sites very tightly spaced. Choose a dry site unless you need hookups. Power poles and water is shared between 2 sites. You may need a Y connector for water and an extension for your power. Excellent shower and bathroom. Good for families.Nice hiking trail about 1 mile on lenth.

Lovely place to camp. We were in an electric site. Campers were a bit close, but we heard they were going to be spreading them out soon. Wectook two hikes in the park. We enjoyed our time here. The restrooms were clean and had a shower.

We only come in the cold months, so I cant say about the summer. The shut off the water except to one site, and the dump station is closed. The sites are big and alot of shade some do not have electric. It has a group shelter that has 3 rv sites. There is a nice playground and trails to go hiking. a small stream snakes through the park and has some small fish. I do recommend this whether you come for a day picnic or longer stay.

We camped here for a week and loved the quiet setting nestled along the creek. Good amenities, and friendly camp host. There are a variety of sites to meet anyone's needs, with more in the works. Just be aware, mosquitos were present.

Has a few really nice sites, & some very close together. However, they are constructing new sites & will be improving those closer spaces soon. I'd guess mid August will all be done. There is also a decent loop trail.Restrooms: Good, clean

Beautiful setting, but the worst site layout and management I've ever seen. Units literally touch each other if awnings and slides are out. You share water, so have a splitter. No one on duty to check in.

Disappointed!! To say the least, been several years since I camped there, last time we went the primitive camping area was closed for renovations, so we went elsewhere, came back this week, don’t know if the renovations were ever finished, because they are again / Still under construction, but NOW there are NO beaver ponds!! Just another creek ..

Great place for families to camp at. Very clean with friendly maintenance crew. They take great care of the place. Bring wood or buy some along the way as there is really no foraging. Great for fishing, biking, and hiking. Even have a play area for little ones. There's one shower in each of the main restroom area for public use. Highly recommend!

Really like this place. Good location in case you need more 'stuff. Near the towns of Mora, NM, about 35 or 40 miles and about a 20 to 30 min drive to Angel Fire NM. Good on site shower and bathroom facilities. A separate area for a large group,ie family with toilet, shelter or kitchen and eating area with access to potable water. 4 stars mainly because some people with campers sometime use very noisy generators. But hey, not too bad a problem and is no fault of the campgrounds mngrs. But I would still go there.

Short, wooded mountain hiking path (less than a mile, with no real look-out views we could find), it was a nice hike though. We didn't camp, but there's a small RV campsite area by a little creek, some covered/tent camping spots, and some group picnic areas. Standard $5-per-car admission fee for general upkeep.
