I cannot believe that more people and pooches don't use this park! This was our first visit there, and the park was empty all morning. It is huge, clean, has picnic tables, and a good amount of shade under a few older trees. The city provides clean-up bags and trash cans; there are also 2 water fountains and ample parking. Our two rescue dogs have never been to a dog park before and started exploring right away. I guess we have to make it a regular thing now! Highly recommend a visit!

What a great park! Despite the fact that there was snow on the ground (really new mexico? It may be February, but you are very far south!), I am so glad I stopped. Huge and spacious, with lots of room to run around for my dog. Small and large sections, always appreciated. Only used as a stopover during a long drive, but cannot be more thrilled that I did. Highly recommend if you are a local or a visitor to the area with a dog.It was a well used park, clearly very popular with the locals, but justifiably so. There were lots of gazebos with sitting area.Forgot to look for water, so bring yours just in case as it may not be winterized.Dog-friendliness: It's a dog park...

We were traveling and looked for a dog park to let our dogs run off leash. The City of Gallup Dog Park was a great find!Divided into large and small dog parks. The water fountain didn’t work but maybe too early in the season. We were there in early March. Huge area for the dogs to run, two shaded picnic tables and large gravel parking lot.You pull in just before the Dollar Store. It looked like a dicey area at first but once we pulled in we could see it was very nice. Mostly wood chips on the ground.

Great stop on a long journey. On our way home from Phoenix, this was a great quick spot not too far off the Interstate where the five dogs could run, potty and have dinner. Loved the picnic tables too!

Have been here many times as we travel to the Gallup area. Nice large dog park. It has never been busy when we visited. Shade available to sit in while dogs run and play.

Very nice area for the dogs with a couple of shaded picnic benches for the humans. Bags and waste containers available although I wish more humans would make use of them. The wood chips seem to be replenished often.

Great fenced in park for big dogs. There is a smaller fenced in area for small dogs 30lb and under. Had cool obstacles the dogs could try, a few rocks to climb, some new trees that will provide shade once they are bigger, and two canopies with lunch tables.

This was a nice clean dog park with a huge space to let the pups run. There are also nice ramadas to sit under. We had the whole place to ourselves and will stop again if passing through.

Dog park was properly fenced and had agility equipment. Good sized large dog area and small dog area. Seems to be a favorite with the locals. Had a bad experience with a bully dog that the owner would not correct and was forced to leave the park early due to this.

Big park looks clean, although there is a fair amount of dog poop to pick up, but that's more of the owner's fault. Otherwise pretty hot and I've never seen many people here but I'm usually during the midday when it's the hottest so I understand

Loved this place my dog had so much fun running around off her leash and was able to make a new friend.Playground: Love the wide open area for the dogs to roam free off the leashDog-friendliness: Was nice having other people there with there dogs doing the same thing good to have a tame pet so the meets are good.

Nice dog park, but if you are travelling with pets just be aware that there are no public restrooms there, so you will have to stop at another place if you have to ”go” also 😵💫Restrooms: None

This place was fun for my dog, though you have to be careful that no other aggressive dogs are there. One gentleman didn't get too enjoy his day with his dogs because of other barking dogs, and the owners didnt really do anything nor did they apologize to the owner!

This was a decent park. It was mostly grass and had two good sized areas for dogs to play separately. There were also tables for people to sit at. There's not much shade, which can be a challenge on hot days.It wasn't easy to find (as a non-resident). It's add the end of dirt parking lot and the entrance isn't marked very well for someone not completely familiar with the area or going to the park for the first time.

Huge gated park two separate areas for large and small dogs. A little off the hwy. But great place for you and your dog to stretch your legs during a long drive passing through. And looks like everyone that uses it picks up after their dogs clean clean benches and tables ect. City takes great care of it. No grass bark only cant grow grass on red clay. Only thing I didn't see was a bathroom probably for the best to keep trouble out.

Terrific HUGE play area! A real find! BEWARE the put bull owner who says his dog is friendly, the dog IS NOT friendly and attacked our puppy as we entered. The owner had The gall to tell another couple his dog was friendly as we were leaving, after his dog attacked our puppy, and we stopped them from taking their dog in🤬 After they left all dogs had a great time.

Lots of people with their dogs, everyone enjoying themselves, and quite a few people walking around inside the perimeter as a sort of walking track for exercise. Separate small and large dog areas. Dusty, but that's to be expected. No poop visible and bags were stocked in dispensers.

We’ve stopped here a couple of times now and our girl has a fun time. Very clean and spacious so that there’s plenty of room for all of the pups to run and play without feeling too boxed in.

Our family enjoyed the dog park. There's lots of room to run around and people are good about keeping aggressive dogs away from kids and smaller dogs. Some of the trash bins have broken lids, the water fountains don't work, and some people don't pick up after their dogs [watch your step].

My dog insists on stopping here any time we go to Gallup. The agility training stations are set up & sturdy. The water fountain works again. There are poop bags available the last two times we were there. Best dog park we've been to.

So. Many. Sticker burrs. My husband, me and our 3 dogs stopped here during our cross-country move to Phoenix. We were surprised to see that it was empty when we pulled up (2:00 on a BEAUTIFUL Saturday afternoon). It was a great park in theory, even with the lack of grass (understandable for the area). It was fairly spacious and had an area for the small dogs and large dogs. It also had water fountains for the humans and their furry friends too. But man, oh man... the stickers! Within about 2 minutes all three dogs were limping. We even tried both sides (large and small) since no one was there with the same result. Our bassett mix was too scared to even walk to the gate when we decided to leave. Too bad, it was fairly nice otherwise!

Just left the dog park. My sweet boy got attacked by a pit bull mix with ,2 people who never even asked if he was ok. Don't go here with your nice dog. My boy was just exploring when she came over and jumped him. I was a visiting so won't need to go there again.

Marley’s first dog park! After 2 days of travel we stopped off at this park for Marley to stretch her legs. It’s an excellent space, big enough for big dogs to get a good run in. There are 2 separate fenced areas, 1 for the under 30lbs dogs and 1 for the over 30 pounders. It’s well maintained and highly recommended.

It's great that Gallup offers this amenity to its locals and visitors. There is ample parking and the area is quite spacious. Unfortunately it seems that many of those who choose to utilize this area have little respect! The city generously offers up several stations where free feces collection bags and trash cans are located. Sadly lazy pet owners seem oblivious to the concept of picking up after their own pet. This creates a very unsanitary and frankly disgusting environment to exercise and socialize dogs. I have utilized dog parks in many cities. This has never been a problem before! I have never been more dissatisfied or disappointed with such a park. Dog owners that disregard the obvious privilege ought to be ashamed!

Stopped by here on a road trip. Huge dog park for such a small town. Lots of room to run. Some trees and agility obstacles, too. Small, separate enclosure for small dogs. Water fountain and plenty of poop stations and trash cans. Unfortunately, other users don't seem very good about picking up. Also, we were the only people there on a beautiful sunny evening!

My dog loves the park. She's become more brave with the obstacles and begs to go to the park everytime we are in Gallup. The water fountain rarely works which can be annoying but overall a nice park for pup and I.
