Room was huge! Laid out nicely. But. No hot water. Went to the desk and she came up to "look" at it. She did manage to get it hotter. But when I got in the shower the water went tepid real fast. It was the same thing in the morning. Could have used a vacuum. Tiny rocks on the carpet. Space between the bedside table and bed has never been cleaned. So don't look down as you get up. Microwave needed a deep clean. Breakfast was a huge disappointment. Expired yogurt. Watery eggs. Pool and spa are not working and from the previous reviews, has not been working for some time. Just not the best quality inn I have stayed in. The staff were very nice and tried to help. Room 225, 12/27/2023.Rooms: Could have been cleanerFood & drinks: Disappointing

Room is clean, we made reservations a week in advance traveling and this was a good stopping point, we have a young kid and chose this location because they have a pool. As it turns out no pool, been out of service for a very long time with no immediate plans to have it fixed so don’t stop there for that reason.Food & drinks: Went to dinner at the 87 restaurant and the small town atmosphere and service was great. Home cooked feel.

Honestly it was pretty nice and they had a hot breakfast of eggs and sausage with a biscuit and waffles. Stopped here before leaving for Texas for the Eclipse and they seemed packed but prepared for everyone.

Absolutely disgusting! The room I stayed in had not been cleaned. There was trash on the furniture from the previous tenant. There was men’s hair in the shower. There was “stuff” all over the carpet. The entry way to the back door hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. Cigarette butts on the stairs, dirt, trash everywhere. Super gross place to stay. I would not recommend this hotel, but then again it is Clayton New Mexico and there’s not a lot of options.

Booked this hotel because of the pool and hot tub for the kids. At check in they inform me that the pool area is closed. I ask if I can get a discount on the rate and she laughs at me and says no absolutely not. Then she informs me there’s a 3% surcharge for using a card. Entrance lobby and elevator smell like an ash tray and the room smells really funky. I would suggest trying a different hotel. Staff is so unpleasant and rude and just a thumbs down from there

Hot tub and pool out of order. Booked throughout Choice hotels website, website said nothing about the pool or hot tub being out of service. Traveling with two kids who were looking forward to swimming and being sore from driving my husband and I were looking forward to the hot tub. Walk in and there's a sign that says they are down. Ask about canceling or discount and was told sorry, too late to cancel and no discount. False advertisement shouldn't be rewarded. Reviewed website again, and the room was now available for $10 less and still nothing about the pool and hot tub being out of order. Took several screenshots. Called customer service and will be finishing a complaint after check out. 2 queen room was spacious and nice. Bathroom is a little dirty and caulk needs some bleach around toilet. Fridge, no freezer. Coffee pot and microwave in room.Noteworthy details: Hot tub and pool are out of order

When we found out the pool was closed while checking in we asked to cancel our reservation. The manager said too bad you are too late. You will be charged full price for the room if you decide to leave. When we told them the only reason we made the reservation was so that we could use the pool they said too bad. Even though it was not noted anywhere on their website or when we made the reservation. They then told us to leave and that and that they had the right to refuse service to us. Now we are not allowed to stay with them and being charged for the room. They proceeded to yell at us in front of our 11 year old. I have never experienced such terrible service.

We didn’t have a bad experience but it was just not the best. If I could have guessed, I would’ve assumed it would have been about $80 a night but ended up paying more like $180. The breakfast was decent. Pool and hot tub are not currently operable.

The hotel was good but not fantastic. It was warm in the lobby BUT clean. The reviews below about feces on the floor and hair all over the bed made me nervous but we chose to give the hotel a chance anyway. Some people can be a little over dramatic writing reviews.The room, bathroom and bedding were clean. The a/c got it pretty cold in the room. There is nothing fancy about this hotel. Just a nice room to stay in on our way to Colorado.You can tell the hotel is short staffed but the staff that was there was friendly. The indoor pool was closed but that was to be expected with the hotel being short staffed.Overall, it is a decent hotel at a decent price.

If I could leave zero stars I would. We booked the room and got in a little after 11pm. The sheets were covered in hair. I requested new pillow cases then had to change the bed due to the massive amount of hair both in and on the sheets and comforter. The bathroom had globs of hair in it and had clearly not been cleaned in a while. After we changed the bedding The kicker was what appeared to be feces leading from the bathroom to the edge of the bed. The front desk said the best they could do was clean it real quick but would not refund our money. They put us in another room because of a cancelation but said "they apologized so the answer is no" after traveling for 12 hours with no other hotel options we took their offer for a cleaner room. the only good thing was the front desk lady and I believe her name was Priscilla. She was very nice. I had to make a couple calls before getting a return call about this situation. Buyer beware. They clearly do not check the cleanliness of their rooms or care about keeping their guests in those types of conditions.I wish I would have taken more pictures but pictures certainly do not do it justice.

Place is clean. But WTH- now they wanna charge 3% for using a credit card- I don’t recall hotels ever accepting cash! 🤨 Ill bet The pool never gets fixed -post-Covid excuses. 😔 Oh… and no hot water in the shower 🤬 really topped off this $180 night!!!

Oh, what fun we thought we were going to have! Next time, we gotta do our research! We have never been to New Mexico but were thinking it would be a nice stop before we made it to Canon City, Colorado. Nope! The city was a ghost town... Super hard to find anything that was open to eat at. We wanted some authentic Mexican food, not happening there either. We ended up eating pizza at Pizza Hut and that did not taste like Pizza Hut! This was an episode of the Twilight Zone! The hotel was very dirty! The hallway did not even have carpet laid down, it was concrete flooring with nails showing. They should have closed the hotel if they wanted to remodel... Our room was on the dirty side too, the counters were not wiped off, I ran a tissue over the top and it had black all over it, and so did the faucets. Not trying to detour anyone but this was our experience but it was just dirty.

I went to check in and ran my card. It said approved on my end but their system didnt pick it up. I loged into my bank account and there it was $123.17 taken out. I showed the front desk lady who was very nice and she called her manager. The manager told her to swipe the card again. I told her no that was unacceptable and if thats the case reverse the original charge and i will go to best western down the road. I was not going to be charged 2 times.She told told me she could not refund because they didnt have the money to refund. I told her to just give me the number and name to the main manager and i will deal with it in the morning. I called in the morning and a woman who said she traded shifts with the manager and the manager wasn't there. I proceeded to tell her that i stopped in last night and she started yelling at me. I hadn't even explained what happened and she started yelling " why are you complaining now if you didnt like your stay?" I asked her to calm down and let me explain and that i didnt even stay the night or even get a room.. She told me " this is our policy. Your being irrational. You shouldn't have stayed if you didnt like it." I asked her name and she said " what do you want" i told her "i just want your name." she told me Kayand i couldn't understand her and i asked again and then she told me her name was Terry. She was mumbling and sniffiniling like a crazy person. At this point i realized she was on some sort of substance and told her " thats ok ill go over your head. Have a nice day". Absolutely a disgrace.Edit to add that we went back to the hotel and my husband went in and she immediately started in on him with out leting him speak either. The manager krystal was infact there and she was professional and spoke to my husband.Hopefully the money should be returned to my account soon...... So this lady who answers the front desk lied on top of being crazy mad. And her name was not Kay or Terry. It was Nikki. I will never ever step foot in a quality inn again. This bad review could have been prevented if only Nikki had handed her manager Krystal the phone instead of lieing and foaming at the mouth.

Stayed overnight at Quaility Inn and suites in Clayton New Mexico. Really marginal hotel and very expensive for what you get . Fitness room had a few weights and a bench and a broken treadmill, The pool and jacuzzi were out and looked like they have been that way for a while. A Train went by every couple of hours and kept me awake all night! None of this was mentioned when you book it . The worst is they charge 3% extra for using a credit card . Is that even legal ! No one pays cash for hotels in fact hotels w ont even take cash most places ! Buyer beware. Not many hotels in Clayton may want to keep driving past there if you can !Rooms: Nothing !

I will also be posting this review on Expedia. I paid $145.93 for a one night stay, that included a barely operational AC unit, dirty room, and a breakfast service with insufficient food and food preparation that included the employee preparing food WITHOUT washing hands! Appears that I am unable to post the photographs that I took which shows the dirt buildup in areas that should be getting cleaned on a daily basis. While the particular area may be limited in selection for lodging, I highly encourage travelers to adjust drives so that they have a better selection somewhere else.

Room was fine. Breakfast was a single granola bar. When I checked in, I was charged the incorrect rate. The young man working the front desk seemed new and was flustered. He even called his manager to fix the issue. As it was late and I had kids with me, I went to my room being told it had been taken care of. When I got the receipt the next morning, a correction had been made, but still it was incorrect. The lady working the desk that morning said she would have to ask the manager, who was not available. I left a note and a phone number.... never to hear from this place. Customer service is everything; there are improvements needed at this establishment.

False Advertising, refusal to reduce the rate and honor their "Commitment to Your Satisfaction" sign. I was appalled at the price, because it was advertised as $131 and in the end it was $170 something! That's a significant jump! I was willing to proceed all because of the pool. We get there with a good 60- 90 minutes for the kids to swim, only to find out that their pool was closed!!!! Fine- reduce my rate. No! Their sign was a lie, their website was false, DON'T GO!

Great place to stay. 5th yr in a row to stay here. Driving from Texas to Red River New Mexico for skiing trips. The only unpleasant yr was Covid yr. An that only pertained to the continental breakfast that was in a sack. Due to the area was closed for breakfast, gotta keep that 6 ft apart. This place is out in a small town with not many folks.
