My wife and I spent one night at this park last summer. It was under new ownership and management, and the new owners were obviously working hard to take a nice place and make it even nicer. They were very friendly and accommodating. We have stayed here in past years under different ownership, and I could see the place slowly deteriorating. Wonderful to see a new family take over and fix it up again. Even the kids were out working with dad on the landscaping. We would happily stay here again, and certainly will.

We are headed to Denver, and this was park was very conveniently located, with easy entry /exit access, and plentiful big rig sites that are quite spacious. We loved having room to pull down our patio and enjoy the cool morning . The park is well kept, clean and has a nicely mowed dog walk and dog park available. My dogs enjoyed walking the park , and they had a great time running in the dog park. The owner was very kind and helpful as well. We would highly recommend this park and my dogs would agree!

Excellent place to stay the night. Owner came out to greet us, showed us where to park and made sure we were good to go.Park is very well maintained. Lawn was freshly mowed, new rock on the driveways and all the hookups worked with no leaks or issues. This park even has Wi-Fi!Glad we stopped here on our way back from riding off-road in Colorado for the week!We will be sure to stay here again!!

Great one night stay for our family. After hours check in was easy. Even had a dog run to let our dogs run around for a bit. The run was over grown but our 2 large dogs didn't mind. Would stay again if in the area.

Stayed here one night, and the office was closed. Map left outside for us. Quiet park in April. We were just traveling through. Went to see an old hotel downtown, couldn't get there in time for dinner, and they only serve breakfast to their borders so we cooked in the RV. Took pics of the hotel they got on down the road. It was a good spot to stop at on the way.

The absolute worst. I had a plan and they wouldn't rent. I drove 150 miles. The guy wanted to fight me. Ask any RVer in Raton you'll basically get they suck.

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The site was level, quiet with good internet. T-Mobile had 5 bars. There were a handful of permanent guests, but not unsightly as mentioned by a previous guest. Goatheads we're a issue for our pup. We went to see the dinosaur tracks which was a great bonus.

We made a quick overnight stop here. It was ok, but the goat heads were terrible and there was no green grass for our dog. The goat heads kept getting in our dogs feet. Electricity was great since it was in the high 80's and we could us our air conditioner in our RV. Office staff were friendly and they set us up for late arrival.

This was my 5th time staying there. Usually I would say it was a great place to tent camp. It is reasonably priced and quiet. They are working on getting things back together after a fire burned the building pretty bad. Showers still working but no water on the tent sites. I will stay there again next September.

Three stars because the folks we met were nice and the old and well used bathroom was kept very clean. Otherwise it's a two star park.Stopped here to visit Mt Capulin Volcano National Monument and to break up our drive. Discovered a surprisingly great grocery store in town, the Clayton Ranch Market. Definitely a food oasis.Mostly long term residents at the park. Some really 'moved in'. Good for an overnight between destinations.Level enough sites. Hook ups are old and could use either repair or update. Could not find a wifi signal. What bothered me most was the trash around the sites. Cigarette butts (lots), band-aids, q-tips, flossing picks and just a lot of broken bits of trash ground into dirt. It looks like owners may be working on bringing the main building up to snuff but the individual sites are not a pleasant place to relax. We paid for three nights and stayed two.

Good for an overnight. Was a KOA once up a time. Restrooms were pretty clean but smelled bad. They really need to get the junk car out of the parking lot by the bathrooms. Also didn't care for the yapping little dog running around the park.

Told I had a spot, 150 miles then nothing. Wouldn't even give me a night. The guy tried to fist fight me and I'm not the only one. Everybody in Raton knows about this jerk.

Clayton RV Park is a nice easy place to stop, especially if it’s just for the night! They have lots of pull-through sites that are plenty long and decently level (with our 30 ft travel trailer and F-150 we didn’t need to bother unhitching). There‘s plenty of light around the shower / bathrooms but the rest is a bit dark (lots of stars on clear nights)! We didn’t use the WiFi much but it seemed decent and there’s plenty of cell service. Our site didn’t have cable or sewer hookups but we’ve always just stayed for a single night and it was only 100’ from the bathrooms anyways! The bathrooms seem a bit older but are in good shape and always clean (even had classic 70’s satellite radio playing for a relaxing shower)! There’s a fun playground with kids most weekends and plenty of dog walking area! The owners and the other RVers have always been nice and for the price you really can’t beat it! It’s easy access, very cheap, and fairly quiet (except when a train comes through but good luck finding anywhere in the area that’s out of earshot of trains)! For us it’s a perfect stop, coming or going, between Amarillo and somewhere west (usually Colorado)!

Very disappointed. I understand some RV parks have regulars or people that stay there long-term if they do you should clean it up specially if you're going to have people coming in and staying with you it look like a dump plus trailers that are on the outside of the RV park and not in it people are coming over using the bath house and stuff like that unacceptable will not go back

On the upside.. attendant was friendly and helpful, bathrooms were large and clean. On the downside.. sewer connection for our site was horizontal and threaded which did not fit our rig, cigarette butts littered the site, provided wifi was weak (<2 bars) and we were unable to maintain a connection, no tornado protection on grounds.

Clayton RV Park was a pleasant place to camp for the night. Very well maintained. Restrooms were clean and WARM. It was cold outside. Loved the music playing in the shower/restrooms, too. A plug to nearby LOVES gas station. Stopped there on our way out of town. People were so friendly and cheerful.

Thanks s RV park used to be a KOA, very nice and clean. Not any more. Very deteriorated. People are very nice and friendly but they have cats everywhere with litter boxes in the laundry room. It smelled so bad but I had to do laundry. Sewer line was full!?!? We will not be staying there again.

Between the wild cats climbing in and on my vehicle and the dogs barking it made it hard to sleep. (Tent campers). It's right in this little town in a neighborhood, so traffic never stops. I'd say if you were in an rv or tt in the opposite corner it wouldn't be near as bad. It's not a bad campground, but something needs done with the animals.

As expected, this old KOA has water, sewer and electricity with no frills. They can accommodate any size rig and have tent sites. Had no interaction with staff as office was closed. OK for one night. It was quiet and encountered no issues.

Place is rough! Main building has caught on fire at some point and no one man’s it. Several people that looked like they lived in a car full time stoped in. Only spent one night but that was more than enough. I suggest you keep going.

Quiet park away from the highway. Dog enjoyed the nice grass. The place could use some updates like filling washouts in the roads and bathrooms. Wife who is the resident expert on RV campground bathrooms, said it was Ok. Staff was friendly and I got a discount for being retired military. Not a bad place to overnight.

It’s fine for an overnight stay. We’ve overnighted here numerous times on our way to and from Colorado. Nothing fancy. Reasonably priced. Owners are super nice.

My experience might be alot different. I first moved to the campground back in 2006. It's a nice clean friendly place .Small towns are a trip. People I meet out here have ruined my perception. But my mom couldn't of gotten better care. Thanks to all the people that came together and helped her I'm forever thankful. After the forth of July when she and other family members were struck by a car they needed this type of facility to better there lives. Thanks to all the patrons that travel they can live alot less stressed.

We were passing through to Colorado and needed our Propane bottles filled. Clayton RV campground had a great website with a list of amenities, one being propane. While we were there, also picked up a new sewer hose and connections! Thanks to Jeff’s help and kindness we are now on our way.Even though we weren’t able to stay at the Clayton RV campground..... we now have the address in our travel info. Look forward to staying there soon!

Young folks trying hard to revive what could be a great little town rv park. Very friendly host. Spaced rv out so folks could have quiet. Restrooms were clean. Lots were lvl, all hook ups worked. Short drive to see dinosaur tracks at the park and 2 really good restaurants in town. Stayed an extra night due to the windstorm. Give it a try.

It's no longer a KOA. The owners are very nice and understanding. Our vechicle broke down and we came in after hours. They weren't upset with that. Bathrooms are very clean. Playground was well kept. The reason I gave it only 4 cause there was no cable. But its a great spot to rest for the night if needed.

The owner lady was very nice, and the sites are very big and level, but the bathrooms weren't so great (toilets clogged and no TP). Ok for an overnight, especially if you use your own bathroom.

The price is right, no problem with the power or water, wifi works and the lady in the office was nice. Just here for overnight so a good place to stop. Too hot outside to use the picnic table.
