The Tooth of Time Traders is a great resource for preparation to go camping at Philmont Scout Ranch. They have all the gear that you need, and more. They only stock reliable equipment. They have competitive prices. You can even get a NM fishing license here. You could arrive at Philmont with no hiking gear whatsoever and they could fully outfit you without any problem and you would not overpay.They also have nice souvenirs like water bottles, t-shirts, sweatshirts, geodetic markers, hats etc.I tell the guys in my crew to underpack getting to Philmont so they can get souvenirs at the Tooth of Time Traders and have room to take them home.

If you've been to Philmont then you know it already. If not..... well you should go! If you forgot to pack something they'll probably have it (unless it's underwear). Great selection of gifts for your hiker and they have an on-line store as well.

Good service overall, good nalgenes with philmont logo, and some actually good pants for sale and great belts. I had a few issues though; you aren't allowed to bring merchandise into the restrooms, which caught me off guard as I was wearing both pants and belt (that I had purchased on a previous trip, from which I do not remember this restriction.) Moreover, the arrangement of the pants (and presumably most items also) was annoying, with all the different varieties mushed together. The closest I could find to the pants I were looking for (which I had bought here a previous year) had severely reduced pocket size; one of the key features that made those pants great as opposed to good was that you could cram a whole, full-size nalgene into the pocket AND IT WOULD ACTUALLY FIT.4/5, great store but it's going downhill.Edit: it's, not its.

Cool place with all the last minute goodies before you leave civilization. Prices are not excellent, but about what you'd expect to pay at the big outdoor stores, except I don't think it ever goes on sale here. There are a lot of cool scouting specific things that you cannot get anywhere else.

I loved that I could find anything I forgot at home, didn't have at home, or wanted to have at home in side this store. They really pit a lot of effort into maintaining this make sure to buy your self a belt and buckle as a souvenir because it will last for a very long time, and I think they gave some cool looking belt buckles.

Great hiking and camping store! Has a good selection of books and maps to help explore the outdoors. Staff is very polite and helpful. Perfect place to get your Philmont novelity items as well.

I was here in 1976 ,10 days of hiking, 50 miles, we hiked thou the night up the Tooth of Time to see sun rise. I thought my heart was going to pump out of my chest climbing up the shall rock slope. We were on the trail over the 4th of July. My father was the senior leader/guide on 2 trips, of scout to Plilmont.

If you are looking for Philmont scouting gear, this is the place to go. Patches, belts, logo shirts and pants, water bottles, hats. Camping gear of all kinds. Philmont focused books and other things. A bit pricey but worth it if you want the Philmont logo.

Excellent gear from reputable brands. Even though they have a captive market, they don't take you over the coals on pricing. Prices are very good and great service! Highly recommended!

Can easily be equipped to hike Philmont for 12 days easily. They have a great selection of gear and supplies for scouts and visitors alike. They can easily beat all of the big box camping stores

What can I say.. this is trading post at Philmont scout ranch. Found an awesome shirt and Arbor Wear Flannel.. wish I had more more money to spend .too many things that I wanted.. great selection!

They need to be better with sizing and with this being a family camp week I'm disappointed about the size dejection fir youth shirts and men's shirts honestly. But the staff is tremendous and the experience is wonderful.

Staff are very friendly, but store inventory could have been much better. If you're looking for a large or x-large t-shirt you may need to order online.

Nice gift shop for the museum, but inventory emphasis was surprisingly on Indian jewelry, not Philmont memorabilia.
