Made a stop at the mercantile in the small town of Cimarron en route to Denver. It was such a cute place with a direct menu that made deciding what to eat so much easier. It was brunch time, so I had the panini. You build it the way you want it. I selected sourdough with roast beef, tomatoes, Swiss cheese, and a side of the green chile aioli. It was absolutely delicious and came out in about 10 minutes. The only thing about the sandwiches is that you have to dress it with your selected vegetables that added a minor additional step. The restaurant provides you with a pack of mayo and mustard for condiments. The mercantile also carries pastries, various goods from local businesses, books, magazines, and a selection of meat. The bathroom was impeccably clean.Last but not least, the service was wonderful! Both our server and the cook were engaged and kind, providing us tidbits of information about the local goods, the history of the building (it was built in the late 1800s 😱 and a former Wells Fargo), and the neighboring hotel that served as overnight stays for the likes of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. The Cimarron Mercantile is well worth the detour for where the Rockies meet the Plains.Vegetarian options: Several menu items that are vegetarian or can be made meatless. The menu is limited in general, but there is still a good amount of options for vegetarians.Parking: It’s not an actual lot, but parking spaces in front of the building.

Small menu with a big punch. I ordered the panini ham and roast beef with provolone...great tasting sandwich. My wife had the breakfast burrito,, she really liked it. Very tasty food. Their coffees are just as good as the national chain coffees. The pastries are very good as well. As you see I always had to get me a new wallet, super nice.

Our group stopped here for breakfast on our way home from skiing. My breakfast burrito was delicious and very filling, and my white chocolate mocha was great. The cinnamon rolls hit the spot perfectly. The rest of the group got paninis and they were yummy too. The service was also top notch. We will definitely be stopping through here when we ski at Angel Fire or Red River again!

Had lunch there. If I remember correctly they only serve sandwiches & salads. They had bakery items for breakfast, but most were gone by the time we got there st lunch. The sandwiches were good and the turnover pastry was wonderful.Parking: Parking is available on the street.

10/10 for the Cimarron mercantile! We stopped in our way back from skiing to get coffee and some breakfast. The breakfast was awesome, the coffee was strong and hot and the place is the absolute cutest! A big plus the staff was super friendly and the restrooms were really clean. Next time I’m driving through this will be a must stop for me. The cinnamon roll was my favorite here!

I’m giving a 2 star only because the food was absolutely delicious and the coffee was fantastic!! Now the man was extremely kind, the woman that was running the counter was rude! She acted like we were a burden that we were there. Very short answers and just put out that she HAD to answer questions. She was extremely rude to my husband and young daughter when they tried to purchase something. We wanted to go back the next day to get some more breakfast because it was great, but because she was working we chose to take our business elsewhere. Very disappointed and unfortunately will not be back due to the way my family and I were treated!

I've been coming to cimarron for 10 years and this is the 1st time I've visited this establishment. The breakfast burritos were excellent as well as the Irish cream latte. You can feel the history!

The food at the Mercantile was awesome! It should really be listed as a ā€œcafeā€ rather than just a coffee shop. We stopped in on our way home from Taos. Based on old reviews, we had originally thought we’d eat lunch at The Porch in Cimarron. When we got there, we found out they are permanently closed. Thankfully, some ladies there directed us to the Mercantile. My son said his ham panini was the best he’s had in a long time and the frito pie was quite tasty as well. Super clean with new amenities yet it still retains an old timey atmosphere. A real gem!

I loved visiting this establishment, which is in the old end of Cimarron. I had a burrito for lunch, and it was very good! I loved the overall feel of place. I would most certainly visit again if in the area.

Yummy coffee with a fresh assortment of homemade baked goods. Best espresso in Cimarron! Breakfast offering consists of burritos, lunch is fresh or hot sandwiches with an optional (must have) yummy green chile aioli. If your interested in the rich Wild West History of Cimarron while sipping a freshly brewed coffee then this place is for you! Ask about the ghost that hangs around tending to the store.
