This is the place in Chama. If you just want to get away, come here. Excellent lawn in the back with plenty of room to just run around. Property has access to the Chama River. I would say it would seem like they would feature this a bit more. Just plain good people running this place. We brought our dog and were welcomed with open arms. The owners have a dog of their own and were gracious in allowing us more than common courtesy with our pet. Continental breakfast as part of the package. The grills in the back are an excellent amenity. Thank you both for your hard work. The property shows it.Rooms: Rooms are nice. Not resort nice, but well appointed. Mattress is not quite as firm as our own, but certainly comfortable.Nearby activities: This property is caddy corner to Tierra Wools. This is a place to see a full operation from carding to spinning to weaving wool. Classes on each is available. Talk about learning new skills. Take a couple of weeks away from the hustle and fully engage in the wool experience.

I will first start with how the pictures look just like the rooms and the property. It was very relaxing staying there, beautiful flowers, beautiful grounds, and hummingbirds galore! The people, Marty, and Anna that own the place were amazing hosts, and very friendly. I felt like I had known them all my life. Our rooms were very clean and the complimentary continental breakfast was amazing and there for us every morning. I highly recommend staying here at the Vista Del Rio Lodge. It is convenient to get around if you’re heading to pagosa for the day. Great place! I highly recommend it!

We stayed for one night on a 9 day road trip. This was by far the cleanest, most well maintained place we stayed. Our room was on the back side. We heard no road noise. The surroundings were peaceful. The owners put out hummingbird feeders and they were buzzing with activity. We love birds, so this was a treat for us. The breakfast wasn't extensive, but enough to get us on our way. The owners were friendly and welcoming.

Awesome parking 🅿️, rooms, cold diet sodas, actual key 🔑, warm pre-heated rooms. 👍Rooms: Clean, no smell, perfect temperature, no scratches or blemishes, lots of cable channels 📺. Fridge & microwave.Food & drinks: $1 cold can sodas 🥤 including diet coke & diet coke. 😋 very nice front desk person.

Such a blessing to come across this place! We were driving through a snow storm and needed a quick place to stop at 1am. Management was so accommodating and inviting, even with it being in the middle of the night. Our room was clean and cozy. Plus the town is SO cute with an adorable coffee shop up the road with the best vibes! Great place to stop and stay!

The rooms are very clean and doesn’t have any bad odor. The bathrooms look like they thoroughly clean everything even the baseboards. Woke up to a nature view. The back side had a bbq area with a swing, great for a morning walk. The breakfast room has a home feeling to it. Everyone was welcoming and staying upbeat despite the water shortage they were having when we stayed. The place was super clean. Compared to the chain Marriots we usually stay at, this one by far topped the charts 😊

Feel like family here. The employees are very helpful and accommodating. They offered free board games for the kids and that made the heavy rain go by a lot easier. The views are amazing and the rooms are simple and clean. Everything you need to enjoy that breathtaking scenery… they even offer breakfast room service. Will definitely be back

Contacted Amy a month before we went to book a room for my daughters trip up there. When I called to confirm days before she knew how we were and our needs great to know that they are expecting you. She knew we were going to be there for a few days and welcome us the first day we arrived. We arrived kind of late but there were no worries our room was secure and set. The check-in process was simple and fast and we were in our room relaxing within minutes of arriving. Room was spacious very clean and warm just like my daughter likes it. All 5 nights we spent there we so relaxing and enjoyable. Amy had a family emergency but with the help there you couldn't tell anything was going on. Great people great hospitality would I don't plan to stay anywhere else when we travel to northern NM. You won't be disappointed with this business.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. My family traveled from Albuquerque up to Chama due to some court business in T. A. and stayed at the Vista Del Rio Lodge. The young lady who checked us in was happy, professional, and did a great job making us feel welcomed. The rooms where quite large in size and were very clean and orderly. The shower had great pressure. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty of room for us to unpack our clothes and feel at home for several days. A/C kept the room nice and cool. Every member of the staff we met was professional and friendly. The highspeed internet was a definite plus due to cell phone service being spotty in that whole area of New Mexico. Didn't use the TV because my family generally streams through our own devices (another perk to their high speed internet.) The trial we were involved with was very difficult and emotional, but being able to return to such comfortable lodge at the end of the day made things a lot better. Thank you to Vista Del Rio and their staff for being such a great gem in northern New Mexico.

I’ve come up to Chama once or twice a year since moving to NM and this is my new favorite place to stay. I can’t say enough good things about the super friendly staff and the A/C is a welcome addition in the summer which not all lodges in the area have. Whether going to the railroad or enjoying the beautiful countryside of Chama, this is a great stop. (They also have info about a dog daycare in the area, which I wasn’t aware of on my first trips)

Very friendly staff, large rooms that are very clean, with small fridge, microwave, tv with lots of channels, coffee pot, small table with two chairs. Beds on the softer side and comfortable. They have grills to cook your own food, covered seating, and few outdoor games in the back. The property was very clean and well taken care of. Easy to get in and out of property and just minutes from grocery store, gas station, local food, shops and the train.

as one of the few places to offer air conditioning, we were so glad to get a room here during abnormally hot northern new mexico summer. Found it a little disconcerting that they went in our room(and the next door neighbors) and turned off the a/c while we were gone for a drive. In room a/c was LOUD!! but cold!!! Still so glad to have it!!

Charming hotel surrounded by nature. The road in front is not very busy so the noise is not an issue. We were warmly welcomed by the person at the front desk. The room was nice, comfortable and perfectly clean. We have seen a beautiful red fox in the hotel's garden.

This is an excellent place to stay in Chama! I am filming a documentary of a pilgrimage from Durango to Chimayo on foot with an ultra runner - Anne was so very hospitable and gracious to us as we came out of a long stint of wilderness.The room is pristine, cozy and spacious. There’s TV and WiFi and all the excellent amenities needed to make a memorable stay. Highly recommend!

Very clean and comfortable. Even though this a motel, they exhibited true hospitality equal to a very fine hotel. Briefly stayed while visiting the Chama area with my brother. I would not hesitate to recommend this fine establishment. I will definitely stay here again if and when I may be in the area.

Google says it's a two-star motel, but I'm giving it five stars because Anna and Marty are the most incredible, helpful hosts I've ever encountered. A few of us got stranded in inclement weather up in the mountains and the state police had to evacuate us out, and we finally arrived at Vista Del Rio at about 1:30AM. I had a reservation already, but Anna was up at a moment's notice, and helped some of the others with a place to stay. They gave us additional time to try to sort out our transportation situations, and even shuttled us into downtown to pick up groceries and hot food.All that aside, the rooms are clean and well-prepared. Mini-fridge, microwave, keeps warm in the winter. It's a cozy log-cabin style place to stay the night while traveling. It's also right on the Chama River, and just a couple miles down the road from the scenic train route if you're visiting town for that.
