Such a beautiful part of Northern New Mexico. The room was another story. The room was hot, the fan set on low. The bathroom ran HOT water the whole time.. a huge waste of water for one thing then the water running created a sauna effect. Sketchy people outside who seemed to be conducting some type of inappropriate, possibly illegal behavior. Because of them we didn't open the window.. it was a hot very uncomfortable nights stay. Beds were comfortable, the room was clean, plenty of clean towels, but room smelled moldy. At check out the front desk staff knew of the problem room but did nothing to compensate us. A bit pricey for what we got. Major disappointment!

The sheets were clean and the beds pretty comfortable... but when we unlocked the door and hit the switches it was just an awful sound and no light. we had to dust the wall of major cobwebs. would have been nice to not have to slide out and plug in the fridge, right? No batteries in the smoke detector or the CO detector- we did use the gas heater in the cabin and it wasn't as sketchy as I'd feared. Janky light fixtures and fan, few outlets, brown towels. Somewhat surprisingly Chama books out so we had little choice, but it wasn't inexpensive... They didn't return calls before our trip. Not entirely awful, but Next time I'll look elsewhere.

This was a charming, rustic, small town lodge located near the beautiful Rio Chama river. Our room was clean, comfortable bed, everything worked and the hot water was amazing! The staff was friendly and it was an enjoyable place to stay located on the outskirts of Chama. And the fact that they are pet friendly was a big bonus!! Would definitely stay here again!

When we arrived in our room, there was a bed bug "bomb" sitting in the middle of the room.We stripped the beds and checked them for bugs but did not see any. We searched behind the pictures as well and didn't see bugs or bed bug sign.We stayed, although I was nervous about our decision. It was fine, and the room served its purpose. I didn't ask the manager about the bomb when we checked out because we were in a hurry.Hopefully ita preventive measure.

My husband and I decided to take a trip to Chama and stay at Elkhorn Lodge. We chose Elkhorn Lodge because we wanted a hot tub to enjoy. My husband “chatted” online with someone confirming that there was a hot tub. When we arrived on site we were sorely disappointed when we were told there was no hot tub. We were told that they have people working for them all over the country on the online chat platform. We wish that they would communicate with all their employees about the accommodations that they do or do not have. We were charged a $100 deposit that we were never told about until it was too late, and had already been taken from our account. When I booked online through their website I was trying to book a King bed for us and it said they were all full only to get to the lodge and be the only people on site. It was a bit eerie, the sign also said “No Vacancy” when there was clearly vacancies. The man that checked us in was friendly. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. We did find old coffee in the coffee pot though, which was a bit gross. The heater was also very very noisy and woke me up on and off through the night from the noises that it made. We were hopeful about this little getaway and unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. We hope that others have a better experience than we did.

Booked on lodge website, message system was used and when asked if they did in fact have a hot tub they said yes. Upon arrival we were told there was no hot tub. Online there it had the appearance that there was only one room available. When we were there we were the only people there and it was a little bit of an uncomfortable feeling. I’m the room there was still coffee grounds in the coffee maker. The heater was very noisy. The floor was unstable mushy. We have stayed at other lodges in Chama and wanted to stay here because of the hot tub offered, apparently they have out of state contractors working with them and do not communicate well together. They also charge our card many times over with out letting us know of other charges. I would not recommend this lodge.

The staff was friendly and was able to get us a room on short notice. It is a dog friendly place with a nice walk along the river out back. They do have an area for dogs to be off leash which was nice. The only draw back was our room did have air conditioning so it was a bit warm. If the open the windows it will eventually cool the room off.

Rustic outside : "Cabin- like" look with spacious and appealingly decorated clean room.If you need anything you can text front office and they respond quickly. Beds very comfortable ** Convenient extras : in-room microwave, mini- fridge & 6 cup coffee maker ( they supply coffee). I would stay here again & I would reccomend.

We booked here because they state they are taking "covid precautions" involving thorough cleaning. Apparently this doesn't include cleaning the numerous hairs out of the sink and out of the toilet. Changed rooms, later found hairs there as well. Be aware that this desk in this hotel does not have a telephone and there are no telephones in the rooms. Our cell phones did not work in the room. The number listed on their website is someone who says they are "out of the country" and there was an 11 minute wait to get through even to this remote person. This is extremely dangerous were you to have a medical emergency. The WiFi doesn't work in the room. The desk person says this is because of the location but, strangely enough, your device can find the network from the motel next door, so you don't have internet either. The rooms look very shabby and maintenance has obviously been neglected for years. Don't even look at the golf cart the cleaning woman rides around in; it is so filthy it will make you gag. The desk personnel are also extremely rude.

If you are looking for the rustic country feel, this spot is great. The cabin was cozy, the bed was comfortable, and the kitchen worked out great. There is a nice river in the back that is pretty for a walk, and it's easy to feel right at home. The four star rating is not because of fanciness but because the Lodge is presented as a rustic country getaway and lives up to this in a charming way. Front office folks were nice about it when we needed a few extra minutes to leave. The hot tub was nice to have on site; my only suggestion would be if there could be something done about the strong mildewy smell in the hot tub room. It may be new from the wet winter, but that would be my main suggestion. Other than that, I really enjoyed what the Elkhorn Lodge had to offer and thank you for a nice weekend in the country!

The rooms are very dated and stale smelling. The furnace turned on at 3am and we smelled gas. I Thought it was going to blow up. Was able to turn it off and get outside quickly. Had to wait for 30 min to get the smell out. Let the owners know but all they said was oh I'm sorry. We didnt get compensated for our inconvenience. We will never stay here again.

Stopped here for breakfast after several disappointing tries for meals during our trip through New Mexico. The breakfast was awesome. The atmosphere and food reminded me of an old-school coffee house. The pancakes were huge, the eggs were fresh and the biscuits and gravy were perfect. The service was awesome and the ladies were appreciative of our business and did not act like they were just tolerating us,"Tourists".

Floor had mud in bedrooms. The tables were not wiped, the sheets looked dirty and smelled of dust! There was long strands of hair all over the bathroom floor. Really makes you feel uncomfortable when they dont clean the rooms during a pandemic. NO Airconditioning so prepare to sweat big time. Ohh and the wifi doesnt exist (at all). I couldnt find the signal from my cabin I even walked around and could only find the el Mason hotels wifi. After I made my review the owner acted like I made it all up even though I asked for nothing and all I did was leave my review so other travelers would be weary of this terrible place. You couldnt pay me to stay here again.

I attended a family reunion behind the cabins in the pavilion. The setting was perfect and accommodated all of our family. The kids had a lot of room to run around and were able play on the playground equipment. We were able to use the kitchen and were able to create meals all day for a large group of people. The river ran right by the pavilion and many people were able to fish and have fun in the water.

Cute little cabins right off the main highway. Friendly office staff when we asked if there was a cancellation of a cabin that we could upgrade to from our motel room reservation. She gave us the keys to a cabin to let us check it out! The only reason this got 4 instead of 5 stars is the toilet in the cabin did not look like it had been cleaned, despite a paper seal over the lid that said something like "sanitized just for you!" I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they let someone else check the cabin out who used the bathroom before deciding they didn't want to stay there. It is also HOT with no AC in the cabin, so we spent the evening on the front porch until it cooled down enough to go inside to sleep for the night. Overall a good experience for the price, but we might consider other amenities if we are back in Chama again.

We have stayed here several times. Good beds, clean rooms. No microwave or fridge. No air conditioning, but has a ceiling fan. We like to sit on the deck in the evening. The restaurant next door is good. On the outside of town. Quiet.

Older traditional style lodge. Well maintained with friendly accommodating staff. No air conditioning but the large room fans work nicely. Open windows however allow the neighboring guests cigarette smoke to easily flow into your room. Signs say smoking 25 feet from rooms but is not enforced. Dust and an accumulation of old water bottles were found underneath the bed. Overall a good lodge but a little more attention to detail would make it a great lodge.

The Elkhorn Lodge is on the South side of Chama, and definitely out of the way. They have multiple cabins and a single floor motel. A hot tub, outdoor community fire pit by the river, and overall being by the river, make this an ideal spot. The TV in our room did not work right. I called that same night e checked in asking for it to be fixed, and no one ever came to fix it, the two nights we were there. But it was DirecTV, so probably Monday someone would have been out. The other complaint about the hotel is the noise. Giggling teenage girls and maybe young boys/kids slamming doors (maybe the parents too...) made it very difficult to get to sleep until after 1am, even though quiet time was supposed to start at 10pm. If we were able to sleep better, I may have given it a 4.5 star rating. Oh - they expect guests to be under 5 feet tall, for the showers, too. All in all, it's a good place, and peaceful, and a great price to stay. So I'll stick with the 4 out of 5 stars.

Beautiful cabin but one bed was really hard and uneven. The lights in the whole cabin flickered. The oven did not work. We stayed for 4 nights and informed the management of the oven and lights. For the price it should have been better. Spent over $600 for 4 nights.

Nice place to stay. Very friendly our first night of our honeymoon love it here very good people they every had a life for us in our room so nice. prices are par. With it being Chama NM. Every thing in this part of the state is way to high. But it's a great place to stay and visit just be prepared to shell out the green.

Beds are uncomfortable, toilets are tiny and the bathroom sink leaked. Notified management about leak, which they repaired by putting trash can under leak to catch water. The only nice thing about the place is the river is right there 50 yards from cabins.
