I agree with many of the other reviewers - this restaurant is exceptional. Large portions and a nice mix of offerings that will satisfy the hungriest of travelers. Sit outside if the weather permits and enjoy what a small, beautiful mountain town without hordes of people fells like. Chama is a fantastic jumping-off point for both a family of explorers or just a couple looking for adventure. The canyons east of here are dynamic and the local scenery is peaceful, supreme.

First time in town and stopped in for lunch. The Sopapilla Deliciouso was wonderful. Couldn't keep my wife out of my plate. Friendly people and a wide ranging menu. And a few cold beers available.UPDATEWe stopped back in for breakfast a few days later. Had the haystack with red chili and sausage.

Hole in the wall worth visiting. The restaurant is small, and old. We were greeted immediately. They pushed two tables together for us right away. The service was fast and friendly. The food was outstanding. The chips were still warm! My chicken tacos were delicious. Others in our party enjoyed chile rellenos and stuffed sopapillas. YUM!Wheelchair accessibility: It would be really tricky to get to the restrooms in a wheelchair.

$20.04 for a chicken fried steak, fries (because they were out of mashed potatoes), a table spoon of cold corn, and a small glass of lemon aid. No bread, no salad, no extras. 40 minutes to get the food (served on a styrofoam plate). Credit card fee of $0.79.Never going there again.

A quaint cafe with excellent home-cooked food, associated with a historic fising lodge in Chama NM. My wife and I shared a large grilled chicken, bacon, spinach wrap, with fries on the side. Ask for some of their green chile sauce to put over the fries. Just great! And at a great price - we had the one entree and two soft drinks for a total of $26, including tax and tip.

Our server, Natasha, was nice and courteous. The food was amazing. I had the Turkey Bacon Guac Wrap. It's the best wrap I've ever had! The staff were kind and the meals are decently priced. I highly suggest eating at this restaurant.Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options here.Parking: There is ample parking for this restaurant.Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcomed here and the menu has small portioned meals for them.

Can’t say enough about about this place! Great atmosphere, awesome staff that make you feel like family, you’re cup of coffee, tea, soda, water never goes dry! Visited on a Friday around 1pm , not real busy, service was good and friendly, place was clean and food was fast and delicious. We had the bacon burger and Philly steak sandwich. It was a little expensive. We had water and those 2 meals and it was $31.00. Will stop again though. 😊

Stopped in for lunch between NM and UT. Super busy for 4th because few other places were open, the wait staff is super friendly and helpful.1. Food just needed more flavor, prob some spices and salt2. My burger was undercooked significantly with some raw meat.3. Sopapillas were tasty4. Service was efficient5. They gave me a discount on my food bill because of the burger.4 stars bc they tried, it’s busy and I think the food quality is prob better when they don’t have a rush of people. Give them a try.

Great menu selections. All 4 in my party ordered the Chicharron Burrito because it sounded delicious...IT WAS! ( You get your choice of it being topped with red chile, green chile or both). Each burrito comes with a Hot, fresh sopapilla with honey too! Yum!Other dishes we saw there also looked tasty! Natasha provided us with friendly, attentive service! It was overall an awesome meal in a nice , clean atmosphere! Would highly recommend. Wish I lived closer (we're from Utah) - I would go there often. 😃

Holy smokes!! SOOOO busy and SOOOO good!! Worth.the.wait!! We had breakfast tacos and the summer omelet, all served with a smile, frequent refills, and an angelic voice singing to serenade all the diners. Absolutely some of the best pinto beans, salsa, and guacamole we ever ate.

I had the chicken fried steak, potatoes, a salad, and sweet tea. The chicken fry was something special and the sides and tea were very good. Service was a little slow but it was definitely worth the wait. If I return to Chama sometime later, I would definitely be back.

My husband and I have been eating here for over 35 years. Their food is always fantastic, the service is great, the atmosphere is welcoming. I can’t say enough good things about Elk Horn Cafe. Part of our family is traveling this weekend to our property in the mountains to spread my husbands ashes. The family will be getting to experience the food as well. Can’t wait to eat there.

6 stars, eaten there twice now, great burgers and fries. Breakfast today at 10:30am, wife had chorizzo omelet and I had "American" breakfast, both with hashbrowns and toast. Great, friendly staff. Ordered chicken quesidas, steak philly, chicken fried steak, and turkey sandwich. All were excellent and fresh. You can tell they're quality and care about their business. Im from Houston and this is my first experience in the mountains. Going to make this spot a must every visit. Please support these peeps because covid has hit hard but they're still serving people.

This was a pleasant surprise. And during covid19 times. Outdoor covered eating was available in a friendly patio; beside umbrellas, shade was partly provided by a large paper birch. Ordering was done on one side of the building and your food and billing was brought to you by a masked, but friendly employee. I had a Chama burger which was notable for having fresh sliced jalapenos and avacado. Behind the restaurant are cabins and cottonwood trees which add a bucolic flavor to the dining experience.

My husband and I both got burgers and they were juicy and delicious!!! Definitely going here again. Daughter had the sopaipillas and they were scrumptious as well! The service and friendliness were through the roof. God bless this business!!!
