We drove 2.5 hours from Magdalena, NM to check out the sweet little town of Madrid and Cerrillos. We had read about Blackbird Saloon and how it was a husband and wife operation, similar to ours at our own diner. We loved their story and the concept and everything in the photos online looked very thoughtful, vintage, and old world. We ate there twice during our trip. Once for dinner, and once for brunch. For dinner we had the market pork chop, trumpet mushroom toast, and a takeaway cheese board. All delicious, simple, high quality ingredients. Great casual service, beautiful and cozy ambiance. Brunch was also great. Met the owner Patrick, front of house manager Suzanne, and the in house baker Leslie. All very lovely people. Will definitely be back and tell everyone about this place!Vegetarian options: Mushroom toast, asparagus, salads, fries, etc.

We decided to do a day trip up to the top of the sandias and ended up at the Blackbird Saloon in Cerrillos, where they serve probably some of the best burgers I have ever had in New Mexico. This hidden gem is definitely worth the trip off the beaten path. You get an amazing road trip and a great experience all in one. The old rustic feel of the space the creak of the floor the warmth from a wood fire and maybe if you're feeling saucy you get yourself a craft cocktail.Cheers,To your next food Adventure

Been wanting to come here and finally made the time after a hike at Cerillos Hills state park. Menu is gourmet with interesting choices like elk burgers, quail and wild mushrooms featured. Simple presentation on disposable plates (real glassware and silverware). All under $20. Alcohol served. Indoor and outdoor seating. Order at counter. Friendly service. Be prepared kitchen is a little slow - and totally worth it

Service was very slow and I believe it was due to all the takeout orders that were ahead of us. There was very few people in the restaurant but it took about 40 minutes to receive our food. At about the 30-minute mark we inquired why it was taking so long and was told there was a lot of orders ahead of us. I generally don't have a problem with that if we're informed. Upon ordering if they would have said, it's going to be a longer wait today, that would have given us an option to stay or go.Food at this restaurant is very creative and very thoughtfully prepared but in my mind it wasn't worth waiting 40 minutes. I don't really care for the shoe string french fries ... was unaware that they were shoestring before I ordered them. The sliders were pretty good although I prefer my meat to be cooked all the way through and these were rare but at this point I wasn't going to send them back because I was really hungry. In general I would say the service needs to be improved a bit. I understand that take out orders are important for the support of the business but when you walk into the actual restaurant and you have to wait 40 minutes, it might be a good idea to expand the kitchen and or staff.I got two sliders, a basket of fries to share, my friend got a pastrami sandwich and a small beer and the total came to $44 which I thought was a lot.The menu expensive and appears the chef has put a lot of thought into creating the menu.

Absolutely loved this place! Patrick and Suzanne were beyond hospitable and friendly!! We had already eaten before we arrived but the place smelled amazing and had an extensive menu. The blackbird theme was tastefully distributed throughout and complimented the historic building. Everything was clean including the restroom. We had such a wonderful time there and would love to visit again!

What a find! An authentic saloon. People were friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing. Sharp Shooter is a pastrami on rye that was sooo good! Menu includes traditional sandwiches with a gourmet flair and some special ingredients like elk.

Absolutely delicious. Fun atmosphere and great service. Do not miss out on the bone marrow butter toast, avocado with green chile sour cream and cilantro, and we also had the pheasant toast special. Worth the short drive!! We plan on going back each and every Thursday. So fantastic.PS after you enjoy your meal, there is a super cute petting zoo with scenic views and museum just up the road!

We live in Santa Fe and just heard about this wonderful restaurant with a very unique European flair in a rustic saloon setting. We had friends in town and decided to go try it out. Oh my God. It was delightful. The food was so unique. Fresh. And Patrick the owner could not have been more friendly and welcoming. I will be telling everyone about this lovely place. And will be returning very soon.

As a Santa Fe local I hadn’t checked out this place in long time. My friend Ava reminded me it’s the best burger in NM. Hubby and I took trip from SF and it was worth it. I agree best burger in NM (why haven’t they done green chile cheese burger smackdown!) get there when they open; we arrived shortly after opening then there was a huge line. Popular place with outstanding food. Usually I take photos of food but it was so good I didn’t wanna put it down. Worth the 20-30mim drive out of SF. Will def be back!

The Blackbird Saloon is a fantastic place to experience delicious food and old time Western atmosphere. It is definitely worth the drive from Santa Fe or Albuquerque. The menu takes some time to read, but it's worth the effort. I doubt you'll find anything that's humdrum or trite - so far as I know everything is unique to this restaurant. Service is fantastic. The place is small, but they use every inch. The front porch is gorgeous in the sunset while the interior looks like a place you'd expect to find Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday passing time.

Really good unique food in a cute little town. We had the potatoes fried in goose fat, thin crispy fries, bone marrow toast, the El Chivato Burger, and the Trail Blazer that had blue cheese, blueberry mustard, and an elk Burger. Everything was really good. We made a little day trip out of it from ABQ.Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian optionsParking: Lots of parking available down the street

Cute, revived saloon from the 1800s. The owners are a super sweet couple who always take time to chat with patrons. Great sandwiches and burgers, local beer on tap. The best is the decor, if you want something old-school, complete with saloon doors leading to restrooms, metal-plated ceilings, a 100+ year old stove, and a huge original bar, this is the place for you.

Great pastrami sandwich with interesting pickled vegetables. Love those shoestring fries! My dining companion had an oversized burger. I found the prices very reasonable ($14 for a homemade sandwich, $7 for a portion of fries that fed 2). We waited 30 mins for our food on Sat evening close to 7:30 closing. Homey atmosphere and friendly servers.

Very fun local restaurant. Seemed like half or more of those dining here live in or near Cerrillos. The decor is funky and the staff are super-friendly. The food took awhile to get out of the kitchen (we were warned before we ordered). I had a delicious trumpet mushroom and goat cheese sandwich. My husband had a rare burger that he said was beautifully prepared. We shared the scrumptious grilled avocado appetizer. Highly recommend! Check the website to verify hours and days they are open. Worth the drive from Santa Fe or Albuquerque!

Some locals suggested we check out the little town of Cerrillos and we came across The Blackbird Saloon. Wow! Everything was great! The atmosphere, the service and the food was outstanding! I had the grilled avocado, my husband had an angus burger. They were both delicious! If we make it back to New Mexico we will definitely be back! Thanks for a great experience!

A gourmet diamond in the rough. As you're traveling the Turquoise Trail make sure to turn off and visit the town of Los Cerrillos for lunch or a snack. Black Bird Saloon is a destination not to be missed with a surprising gourmet menu. We shared the Avocado at First and Main and the Black Bird Sliders...both were delicious. This is as good as anything in downtown Santa Fe. A great place to relax off the beaten path. Can't wait to go back!
