Due to a very heavy snow storm that blocked roads, we ended up eating lunch here on a Friday. Service was quick given there were only five other tables occupied. I think everyone enjoyed their food except for me. The cheese sauce used for the nachos wasn't bad, just different, and not really to my liking. The salsa and jalapeños barely provided any spice. We would visit more often, but as with everywhere else, inflation has made it hard for large families to dine out.Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu, boosters, and highchairs.

I just had a pretty unbelievable experience with the Greenside Cafe. We’ve been eating here for well over a decade and never been treated this way. My husband and I are both sick. We ordered a burger and peanut noodles so we wouldn’t have to cook. We live a good distance away as many people in the EM do. When we got home we realized my husbands burger bun was totally burnt. It’s a $14 burger. They wanted us to come back to the restaurant so they could remake it or take $5 off the price of the burger. That’s like an hour and half of our time spent going back and forth to fix something that they should have checked before sending out of the kitchen. Considering we had already paid for a meal that wasn’t made correctly it seems like pretty bad customer service to force us to drive back to the restaurant. I requested a total refund for the burger which feels pretty reasonable. The person I spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude and should not be your front of house representative. She told me five dollars was the best they could do since we didn’t want to come back to the restaurant. I told her there was no way we could come back and that I wanted a refund for the burger. She said simply said “Okay” in a condescending tone and hung up the phone. I attempted to call back to speak to a manager but I imagine she was the manager. I won’t expect a refund but I’ll be delighted if I get one. One thing is certain, we won’t be returning to Greenside anymore. I hope the $14 was worth a lifetime of patronage. Thank you for the truly terrible experience.

I was visiting the Albuquerque area for just a few days and made a trip up the mountain to enjoy the scenery. I stopped here for a relaxing evening meal after hiking and exploring Sandia Crest. I noticed this restaurant on my drive up to the mountain and made a mental note to check it out on the way back. I'm glad I did!I ordered the green chili burger - because why not! Nearly everything in New Mexico has green chili as a topping... I'm pretty sure I saw a jar of green chili mayonnaise at the grocery store. The burger itself is partially deconstructed when served - meat, cheese, and green chili in between golden buttery buns, and you're given the choice to dress it however you wish with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, and mustard.I was very pleased with the taste and choice of seasoning. Everything is well balanced and I didn't notice overpowering flavors, including the green chili. it's a very good burger... I asked for a medium texture but ended up getting well-done. The house-made potato chips are very delicious - light, crunchy, and perfect with a burger.Overall, my only true disappointment is that they didn't have the dessert option I ordered off the menu. The staff is friendly once you start a conversation, however, getting there may be a bit awkward. Upon entering the restaurant, my presence was acknowledged but I was not greeted - it was just a glance in my direction. I stood at the entrance waiting to be seated for several minutes before one of the waitresses approached me and asked if I wanted to dine in. I almost felt as if I was not going to be served. It's a nice restaurant, it definitely has its unique way of handling guests, and it seems to be working for them. But I'm not sure if outsiders, such as myself, are truly welcomed and wanted. As I enjoyed my meal, I did notice other guests entering the restaurant were quickly greeted and seated... I'm talking less than a minute from opening the door to being at the table. Whereas I had to wait anywhere between 6-10 minutes - and there were only two tables being served when I showed up, so not busy at all.

The food was wonderful. Unfortunately, I had a pepper reaction (my fault for not asking). The staff handled it professionally and with care, and understanding.Vanessa, Eli, Sherelle, and Tiana made me feel like part of the group. More like family than Olive Garden. 😊 Special thanks to Tiana for helping me through my episode.Dietary restrictions: Most of the food is made to order, so if you have allergies, be sure to ask about available options.

Wow! You want to eat here!!! If you are looking at Google reviews to find a new place to eat- this is the place you need to visit!!!! We visited based on other reviews and I’m so glad we did... I had the chicken artichoke (great if you like bitter goat cheese and artichokes like I do- I couldn’t get enough of the sauce! ) my fiancé had the Sangre de Cristo sandwich and both were delicious- he’s picky so this was astonishing. Our waitress Tiana was AMAZING so nice, so knowledgeable and such a pleasure. About 20 minutes in, we got to talking to the table near us who couldn’t stop raving about the Chicken Fried Steak so when our guests arrived about 40 minutes later we insisted they order the chicken fried steak.. they both did and they 1. Loved it and 2. both had leftovers. Our Creme Brule dessert was mouth watering . Absolutely my new most favorite restaurant in the East Mountains. I can’t wait to go back and when I do, I hope Tiana is my server!

Greenside Cafe is a pleasant and small restaurant. Our server was very engaging and enjoyable. Her knowledge of the menu was very good and we enjoyed her humor she displayed to us. It was our first visit and we enjoyed the interior and food there. The only major issue was the missing raspberry sauce for the Sangria de Cristo sandwich. That issue was resolved quickly and correctly. I highly recommend their Korean Fried Chicken aka The KFC. It is very flavorful and has a spicy bite that engages your taste buds without torturing them. Even for people like me who enjoys spicy foods, this sandwich is very well balanced in taste. We will be returning to check out other menu choices. They do have a selection of local brewery choices to choose from. That is a huge plus along with the flavor of the choices we made there. Keep up the excellent work.

The food was just ok. The service was hideous. The waitress knew nothing about the food or the alcohol drinks. Brought me the coldest cup of coffee. Never checked to see if we needed anything. The 3 other couples were never checked on. We were considering a desert but when asked if we were finished. I decided no desert. I left a 5 dollar tip. It should have been nothing. We will not ever give this place any business.

Everything was good. I love my trout! Just nicely seasoned and well done. My daughter likes her tortilla soup so my husband's spicy Korean chicken sandwich. Staff are nice too!

My husband is from the East Mountains and has been coming here since he was a teenager, but this was my first (and only) visit to Greenside Cafe.We were sat in an area of the restaurant that was off of the main dining room where there was nobody else around. It was quiet and well lit, not too busy. But the booth we were sat in was extremely uncomfortable because it's springs were so broken down; the table was too high and so lightweight that it wobbled & moved easily. Our server was very warm and friendly when we were ordering our food and while it was brought out. She seemed like a genuinely good person.Unfortunately, she never returned... after we were done eating and waited for a long time for our check we finally got up and found out that she had left! Her shift was over & nobody else took over taking care of us.I was disappointed with both the mixed drink that I ordered (they said that they had just started serving them) - it was small & mostly ice and drink mix... I'm not even sure it had any booze in it.I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich and it was flat-out gross! The chicken was rubbery, the bun tough, and when they say "kimchi slaw" they mean store bought, sopping wet, country style cole slaw that they just added something spicy to.It was bitter and the awful taste was overpowering... And I like (real) kimchi! However the other people with me ordered a burger and enchiladas - they both said that they liked their meals. So, I guess I'd be willing to give this spot another shot if I ordered something else and was sat some place comfortable.I can see how we accidentally got overlooked during a shift change because of where we were in the restaurant, and the waitress WAS really nice and attentive when she was there.I hope that it was a one-off poor experience and I'll be able to upgrade my review if I ever return there.

Greenside Café is a comfortable spot on the “green side” of the Sandia Mountains in Cedar Crest, New Mexico. My wife and I came for a Mother’s Day brunch and sat on the patio. The sun was shining and there was a nice cool breeze. Our waitress, Mary, was courteous and prompt. My wife had the chicken enchilada plate and I had the Huevos Rancheros Fried Steak. We both found our choices delicious! Fresh and hot with the perfect amount of New Mexico spice. I’d never had Huevos Rancheros with a chicken fried steak before and found that it is a very good combination! Well done, Greenside!

Disappointed. This place has great reviews, perhaps the staff partied to hard on Friday evening. Most restaurants had at least 1 American flag on display for veterans day....we expected more from the servers, while walking to the table the server didn't even introduce herself instead, she asked our backs what we wanted to drink...rude. They never came to check on the food, my vegetables and mashed potatoes must have cooled off while they were making the chicken fried steak (that was decent). The coffee was worse than army mre coffee, even had to go ask the host to pour me a different cup. From the horrible service to lackluster food our experience did not meet our 4.4 star expectations. We don't live far, it's a 20 minute drive....however we had to approach the host to pay our bill, no manager on duty or to talk to. Truly hope this is a one off for this place, would love to see a reply from the owners.PsClean your tables, wipe down your shakers and sugar. Fix the wobbly chairs and deep clean. This place seems like it just needs good leadership.

The trout and green chile mac and cheese were very good. The veggies with the trout were the highlight. We chose Greenside Cafe due to them have a dog friendly patio 👍🏻

I liked the area a lot, it has local art which I thoroughly enjoyed looking at! The food overall I felt could use more flavor. I got the chicken enchiladas and while the heat from the red chiles was there, it tasted a bit like the chicken was unseasoned. Not sure how it was or was not, but it just seemed like it was simply cooked and then added with the rest of the food. Salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, any kind of herbs etc, I wasn't really able to pick up. I'd still maybe try another item on the menu but that was my overall impression. Lovely staff.

Our experience here was mixed. My husband's brisket tacos were good. My portobello mushroom sandwich was "meh". The mushroom was overly spicy. I'm not sure why they put cayenne on it, but it was too hot to enjoy; I gave that part to hubbie to add to his tacos. It was nice to have a gluten free bun, but it was so-so in taste and texture. Maybe grill it to make it better? The side salad was good, and the sweet potato fries were excellent. Our waitress, Tianna, was very accommodating and sweet, but on the slow side.
