The staff at capitan family Dollar is way nicer than the staff at Dollar general. And you don't have to search the whole store to find someone to help you and that makes all the difference in the world.

Only 4 stars because sometimes it’s just to cluttered. I know it’s hard in a small town to find help. Small towns areGreatly Affected due to all the Covid restrictions. Sad. But just can’t find good dependable help much anymore. They have a good selection of items so you don’t have to run all the way to Ruidoso for some quick shopping. Fairly reasonably priced. Staff is friendly. But they are constantly restocking items and boxes take up tons of room in the isle ways. Other than that, I do shop there when I need a place close to home.

The older woman cashier was on her cell phone nearly whole time checking me out. Also, trying to figure out who was beeping her on the phone. Phone hardly left her hand while checking me out. Needless to say I got home with out one of my items. Guess she didn't get it bagged. I did not check my bag, needless to say before leaving. Should have, but so irritated at her I just left.

I normally enjoy shopping here, but today was NOT a good experience. One employee working, had her bluetooth music connected to a speaker set up in the middle of the store. It was extreemly loud, blaring profanity, children and families were attempting to shop. Upon check out, the cashier reeked of "smoke" (Im sure you get my meaning). She made smalltalk with another customer while checking me out, never acknowledging me. Its too bad as this store is convenient, and normally relatively pleasant. Its a definite plus for the community. Needs some revamping though!

The store is always a mess. It looks like the shelves just have random things thrown on them, and if there isn't room then it's just thrown on the floor. The isles are in constant disarray, makes you wonder what the staff their do in their spare time. Even the counter where the employees hang out is always a huge mess. From what I gather their is no manager which means the young, the restless, and the overindulgent (those who partake in illegal substances) are left to their own devices completely unsupervised. I went in there there last night and the lady behind the counter was having a full on jaw jack attack (happens when you're tweaking). She kept juggling her dentures around in her mouth, couldn't find the handles on the plastic bag to hand it to me so she just wadded it up and slid it across the counter, then in between straightening out her dentures and trying to keep her eyeballs from rolling around in her head she muttered/slurred "khave a nish thay". This is not the type of thing you want to see at a "Family" store. They need to have a full time manager in their ASAP someone who isn't a brother, sister, cousin, uncle-dad, etc and someone who isn't from this town to keep these people in check and get that store squared away.

I went in for a flashlight, and the cashier showed me options. She gave me some customer reviews on the product that she had heard which was helpful and she herself uses.

My wife went to get sale items advertised and the manger told her nothing on the add were good. He was very rude and upset her very bad. I don’t understand but I bet he won’t do that to me. We’ll see.

They close unexpectedly and leave no sign of the reason for closing when they are supposed to be opened they just lock the doors and hope people realize they are closed.
